[1,2,3] In our study we attempt to see whether a line marked on the surface of the skull connecting the inion and root of zygoma (I-Z line) can be reliably used as a surface land mark for the transverse sinus.

Chvostek's sign is prompted by tapping the facial nerve below the zygoma (about 1-2 inches anterior to the ear).

It lies in the maxilla, largest of all sinuses, pyramidal in shape with its base towards the lateral wall of the nose and apex in the zygoma. The lining mucosa is ciliated columnar epithelium with goblet cells which secrete mucous and the cilia push the mucous into the nasal cavity through the ostium of the sinus3.

Accordingly, mandibular fractures (dentoalveolar, symphysis-parasymphysis, corpus, angulus-ramus, coronoid, and condylar processes); maxillar fractures (alveolar, Le Fort Types I, II, III); nasal fractures, nasoorbitoethmoid fractures, orbital fractures (floor, medial, roof, and lateral walls); zygoma fractures (zygomatic complex and arch); and frontal sinus fractures were reviewed.
