Hand drawn and Hand-cut
Hi and welcome! My name is Michelle May, but friends call me Shell. I'm an analog artist creating original Papercut Art in-Spirit with the world around me.
The unpretentious nature of papercutting comes from its roots in folk art, an art form I deeply admire as I too am self taught. Using a single piece of charcoal paper and wielding nothing more than a humble blade, I slowly cut away the negative space in order to reveal a story, pun or message that comes to me, in which I describe as a "Divine Download."
My art is directly influenced by the Swedish lifestyle of Lagom, meaning not too little, not too much and by Scandinavian folk art, which depicts balanced designs featuring flowers, animals and leaves. Instead of creating for the masses, I focus on creating original pieces filled with joy, love and care. Thus, my art isn't meant for everyone, it's meant for someone
and maybe that someone is you.
My art is a journey honoring the connectedness and consciousness of all living things and my hope that people will remember this in a whimsical, joyful
and light-hearted way.
Be the first to hear about upcoming adventures down the rabbit hole.
