Just discovered this site. Very good info and a pleasure to read. I loved Betty Grable as a kid and followed her career until her death, including seeing her in “Hello, Dolly” on Broadway. The night I went she got a tremendous ovation when she first appeared…stopped the show. There was a sweet quality to her Dolly that made the character very appealing. As the years go by, it’s clear that she is remembered for what she represented during the war years as much as for her individual movies. She’s achieved permanent iconic status in this regard, and she deserves it.
