Wow, impressive filmography ! His movies as director that I prefer are Platoon, Salvador, Wall Street and JFK. As a writer, 4 of his movies are among my very cults films : Scarface, Conan, Year of the Dragon and Midnight Express. They are part of the films that shaped me as a moviegoer. Strangely, I’ve never seen Natural Born Killer.
I agree with you for Year of the Dragon, and I’m a fan of Cimmino’ cinema. I rewatched this film two months ago, and I found it still very good. At the time it was a success in France.
As a director his biggest success in my country were JFK (Kevin Costner was very popular at the time) and Platoon. The latest attracted near 3 millions spectators (a big score for us).
Scarface wasn’t a success when it released, but it became cult with the video. Midnight Express pleased enormously to the french public. It is one fo the 200 biggest success of all-time in France, with near 6 millions admissions.
