Reese Witherspoon (1976-) is an Oscar® winning American actress.  Witherspoon is a member of the small but impressive CAWBAA (Child Actors Who Became Awesome Adults) group.  It is hard to believe that the young actress in Freeway, The Man In The Moon and Jack The Bear is now 40!  Witherspoon’s IMDb page shows over 60 acting credits since 1991. This page will rank Reese Witherspoon movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.  To do well in our overall rankings a movie has to do well at the box office, get good reviews by critics, be liked by audiences and get some award recognition.

Drivel part of the page:  Our last two pages dealt with Western moviesThe Bad: Those pages took a very long time to research and write. The Good: Those pages broke our record for most views after 48 hours!  The Ugly:  No rest for the weary, as that is now ancient history….and a new page needs to be done.  For our new UMR Movie page subject….we decided to go the easy route….and picked a current performer, Reese Witherspoon, who required very little research….as we had 25 of her 33 movies already full researched in our database.

    1. The English version of what Dan Friecher was trying to say : This was a Great Move Bruce Cogerson . I want to let You know that I think You’re a Smart Man for Compiling Reese W. Movies !

  2. Hi

Reese is one of the most interesting stars to emerge from the 1990’s. With films like Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions and Election. Then the role that made her a star, Legally Blonde, playing the bubbly but clever young blonde lawyer. Sweet Home Alabama also for her sweet girl next door role.
After her Oscar win, her career seemed to dip slightly and so I was glad to hear of her success with Wild, proving that she’s more than just a pretty face. But what I like most about her is that she’s willing to take risks. Vanity Fair, which is rated at number 23, is a perfect example of someone willing to take a risk. The part of Becky Sharp is one of the most complicated roles in English Literature. She’s no wallflower, but a scheming conniving little minx, who’ll do anything or use anybody to get ahead. But in truth she was a survivor, set in the time when women had no position or money were nothing, she weaved her way through high society. Reese mastered the role perfectly. It’s a pity the movie didn’t get much Oscar or Box office love. But I would encourage anyone to seek it out.
And it’s for that reason that I think we’ll see some more surprises from her in the future.

    1. Hey Chris. Her 1990s trifecta was pretty impressive….especially Election. She was good in Cruel Intentions….but her part was the least “showy” of the leads. I have not seen her Legally Blonde movies yet…why? ….I have no idea….as I generally watch everything.

I would agree her career has dipped since Walk The Line…and now she is 40…traditionally 40 is the end of the road for actresses….maybe she can reverse that trend. I will have to check out Vanity Fair….you mini-review makes it seem very interesting.

I hope you are right about her having some more surprises in the future….hopefully she will stay away from movies like Hot Pursuit. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
