DIY•IZM - 60 pages of photos, both film and digital, from Karoline Collins and Jay Unidos. This is street-level photography, sometimes literally, shot during the pandemic while traversing the city, separately, armed with cameras, phones, coffee, and an extra pair of eyes to help scan the landscape. Karoline has also gone into her personal archive and shared some of her older 35mm photos from the nineties. In addition to photos, this issue features collage art by Kali Pollard and a new mixtape compiled (link to audio files in the zine) by Pat Libby. Every issue comes with stickers. A repost from @danhashthrash on Instagram, who uploaded a bunch of cool flyers over the past week. This one stood out because I still remember posting these around Oakland the night before September 11th (actually the morning of, technically). This was an 11x17” flyer which we faux splattered with blood (red ink) at the MRR house, in the courtyard. I remember watching the live footage from New York the next morning and listening to the way it was being reported, then remembering that these flyers were stapled to every telephone pole on 40th St., including the one right in front of my apartment. 😳
Our first issue of Urban Guerrilla Zine published in the midst of a global pandemic is now available at http://urbanguerrillazine.bigcartel.com. It’s 64 pages of photos, art, and writing from Matthew Kadi, Kevin Spaghetti, Alison Tharp, Karoline Collins, Rupert Estanislao, Gilbert “Peyote” Gutierrez, Cris Rodriguez, Sam Bortnick, Pat Libby, Jay Unidos, and Serena Sigona. This is our look-back at 2020 issue as we step forward into a “new” year. Every issue of Urban Guerrilla Zine #24 comes with a grip of stickers (more than what’s pictured here).
A portion of the profits made from sales of this zine will be donated.
