Tony’s Chocolonely Inc., a New York, New York Corporation, is voluntarily recalling seven lots of Tony’s brand Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar (6.35oz); and Everything Bar (6.35oz) because the product may contain small stones.
The products were distributed nationwide and sold in the United States via retail stores and www.tonyschocolonely.com; distribution of the products began February 7, 2025 and ended March 24, 2025.

this recall only affects some lots of the dark almond sea salt bar and the everything bar, due to the rock problem. they were distributed nationwide in stores and on the internet. I included their pictures at the top.

The recall was initiated following 12 reports of consumers finding small stones in the product not filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing process. All complaints occurred outside of the United States and Canada, and no injuries were reported.
they found rocks after there were 12 reports that said hey. there are rocks in this. this can easily lead to dental problems if someone tries to bite full force on a rock and breaks a tooth or otherwise injures their mouth. dental infections can eventually become life-threatening even in people who are young and otherwise healthy. so it is a good thing nobody apparently ate the rocks yet. or at least, nobody got injured while potentially eating rocks. yet

I was lamenting the utter lack of Barret-centric longfics when I decided I might as well be the change I want to see in the world. This is another angle on removing Cloud from the story to see how other characters interact with its elements in his absence.

Ever since playing Rebirth, I keep circling back to my frustration with Yuffie’s early appearances. Her introduction as a damsel-in-distress and immediate positive reaction to AVALANCHE both felt so antithetical to her nature as a fiercely independent and antagonistic person. I’m not married to her OG intro where the party inexplicably recruits her after she mugs them, but I feel like Rebirth went about 1000 steps in the wrong direction.
I’ve been thinking about how I might have written it in this universe, and one thing I did think had potential was her assassination plot. I wanted her to be furious with Barret for messing it up, and having that assassination attempt be her first appearance would have been a great way to establish her as a character whose relationship to Shinra is much more clear-cut than the other party members.
Most everyone else at some point in their past believed in and was subsequently betrayed by Shinra, so they understand the propaganda at work here and how most of the world actually views Shinra. By contrast, Yuffie grew up at war with Shinra and thinks anyone who doesn’t see them for what they are is an idiot.
It’s in part because of that conflict of perspective that Yuffie takes so long to genuinely warm up to the party. It’s disappointing to just… skip all that messiness in favor of turning her into some happy-go-lucky goofball.

Now that you point it out, it’s true Yuffie feels a little flat in the remake games so far.
I still found her quite charming, but I agree that she warms up to the party way too fast. Also, the assassination attempt would’ve been such a cool first impression.
It does very much feel like Yuffie is being made “cuter” overall, I’ve seen some promotional stuff that leans more into her being a goofball like you said. My brother mentioned it feels like she’s being a little “cute anime girl-ified” for lack of a better description. He also mentioned he really liked Yuffie’s “scrappy little guy” energy in the original and it has been sanded down at the edges it looks like.
You’re right Yuffie has a lot to be angry about and going more into the friction of differing perspectives would be better.
Now that it’s been pointed out to me, it’s gonna stand out like a sore thumb lol
Yeah, I think your brother’s hit it on the nose! It feels like either some marketing guy insisted they make her cuter out of fear no one would like her, or the writers straight-up forgot she’s not… Rikku from FFX. Rikku would say shit like “Turn that frown upside-down!” Yuffie would never.
Admittedly I think they started this shift a while ago, like when they decided to tack on the cute anime girl trait of “clumsy” in Dirge of Cerberus, even though OG!Yuffie is never shown falling off of anything and this trait is wildly incompatible with her skills as a ninja.
She does start feeling more IC to me in Rebirth after Gold Saucer, but they really have sanded down her edges. We don’t really get to see her manipulative side either, and I don’t think she even got to steal anything! Where is my obnoxious little kleptomaniac with trust issues??
I’ve seen people complaining that Yuffie is annoying and calling her a brat. (They were even complaining about her being pushed as cute and charming even though they disagree) Maybe that’s why they’re smoothing things over.
But I feel like people were going to call her annoying anyway by virtue of her being a teenager and acting like it. lol
Perhaps the shift is also more obvious because people assume Yuffie is less cared about overall? So the assumption is that people won’t notice if they change her.
Yuffie IS a brat!! And that is part of what makes her so great, because she is doing it on purpose. She refuses to sugar-coat her opinions and is constantly trying to provoke other people into showing their true colors.
But yeah, those are both good points. Yuffie has never been one of the Super Popular characters so they probably don’t feel like the fanbase is going to be in an uproar if they rewrite her. Which is a shame because they made a solid effort to salvage characters like Cloud and Aeris from their stereotypes of Stoic Loner and Angelic Martyr by actually going back to the original writing, but they didn’t do the same for Yuffie.
Meanwhile, it seems like people are picking up on the attempts to make her more “palatable” and rejecting them as fake. So they might as well have written her as a genuine asshole because people were going to dislike her either way. It’s kind of the curse of existing as a teenage girl.
This reminds me that my brother was often going “where’s the little snot nosed brat?” whenever we were talking about it lol

Yes!! Because you can recruit her earlier in the OG, she can join in on the disguise party. And I guess the sailor uniforms just come in a broader range of sizes than infantry ones, to accommodate Extra Large and Extra Small lol.

hey hi hello so as the US goes through this ~ hostile government takeover ~ Trump signed an executive order last week to eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). On Thursday (3/20) DOGE attempted to quietly raid IMLS but staff there posted to reddit and the unwanted media attention led them to put a pause on the takeover, for now. Trump replaced the director of IMLS with Keith Sonderling, who very openly stated that his goals are to “promote patriotism” and “American exceptionalism”. We worry grants will be more dependent on whether your institution supports DEI [or anyone who isn’t a white hetero cis amab].
A lot of libraries depend on IMLS grants! If they go away we will lose librarians and libraries may close, or at least significantly decrease their services. This will affect funding for technology classes, free resources for the blind, summer reading, databases, free internet access assistance, and interlibrary loans among other things. As the administration also targets social security, immigration, and other safety nets, libraries are attempting to fill the gap for the public, and things will get much harder without reliable funding.
This is also IN ADDITION to the administration calling book bans “fake” and some states attempting to pass laws to criminalize librarians, with fears in the library world that they will also try to make it a federal crime to promote or otherwise provide access to “inappropriate materials” which have included books that promote “gender ideology” or basically any character that isn’t a white heterosexual cis amab. That is one of the cornerstones of Project 2025. This IMLS takeover will only make things worse, and make it harder for people to access information.
Personally, we have been told by our director to be very careful and not talk about this while at work because of fears of retaliation, we have had several calls from the public to remove books with gay characters (we didn’t), and as an adult services librarian, I am already seeing an impact on databases I help the public use. Medline Plus, the only free and easy-to-use medical encyclopedia for the public I have been able to find, is a US government website and already has warnings above certain pages about the “harms of gender ideology”. This warning can be seen above pages on health disparities and abortion.

If you’re so inclined and live in the US, the ALA put together a portal that makes it easy to email your reps with a script. You can find the portal here. I would also recommend investing in your local library, post on social media what services you use, sign up for a library card and see how many resources you can access for free. Many state library associations collect user stories of libraries so they can show their stakeholders they matter. Like my library, it is likely that staff have been warned not to discuss this at work because of fears of retaliation, so try not to talk to librarians about this at work.
