i really do encourage everyone to try to keep up with their local elections. a lot of time only oldies who lean right show up to those so in that situation your votes really do count and it more directly affects your community

genuinely horrifying to me how many americans clearly care more about money and their own self interest and power to the point of buying into facism than like. maintaining the bare basics of human rights and caring about other people. and this isn’t just about the presidency, this is about congress and the house being so right leaning, filled with facist rhetoric. this is about americans losing any modicum of what it means to be empathetic or democratic and it’s sick

and now that this horrifying reality has won, it’s an absolutely crucial time to pick hope and caring for each other more than ever, to love vulnerable groups more than we hate those who oppress them. So here’s a reminder to donate/give attention to:

• international rescue committee / RAICES (provides legal services/advocacy for immigrants at the border)

you watch black sails, it rewires your brain, and then what. what now. every queer analysis of media sounds superficial. I want - I need, sometimes - to compare movies and TV shows to black sails so I can make a point, but I can’t, because like, five people have watched it. And now what. I try explaining the monster metaphor and how minorities shouldn’t conform, but no one gets it. so I just sound like I’m being insane. Which I am, but it has a point and a rationale. And then some media comes out and everyone treats it like it’s revolutionary in how it portrays queerness but you’ve seen it before and you’ve seen it done better, more carefully, more genuinely, but you can’t say anything lest the fans of this new media accuse you of being a prejudiced asshole. And maybe you are. Maybe you’re expecting too much of media that should just be allowed to exist as it is. But if that media is putting itself forward as some kind of metaphor for how queer people are treated in society, and it comes to a certain conclusion, and you’re queer, aren’t you allowed to disagree with that conclusion? Aren’t you allowed to think it’s shallow at best and homophobic at worse? So you just watch black sails and go insane. and let the cycle repeat over and over. and it’s still just you and those five people.

personal opinion but. the reason tiktok’s ‘zepotha’ isn’t doing great isn’t because of a lack of cohesion or poor reasoning behind it (although I’m sure these would’ve contributed). It’s because when I was first introduced to Zepotha it was as a fake movie concept. And when I was first introduced to Goncharov it was as me spending the entire morning trying to figure out why Tumblr was obsessed with some random movie.

sorry but there is no romance in bluetooth earbuds. they’re very handy and nice but nothing will ever compare to sharing a pair of corded earbuds with someone to listen to music or watch a video and leaning together so the earbuds don’t get pulled out. even now when i get handed a bluetooth earbud to share i lean close out of instinct. we need to bring the cords back for the love of god
