Pretty good seeds 5/8 success rate so far.
5 out of 5 stars
Pretty good seeds 5/8 success rate so far.
I would like to preface it that I am a beginning Gardener and I'm learning as I go. I followed the instructions and soaked the seeds before planting them. I planted them in my nursery set up on August 13th. They just broke the surface today on the 19th so it took them a total of 6 days to begin peaking out from the surface of the soil. I planted 8 tiny cells at the same time but so far I only have 5 blooming. Overall however I am quite pleased with the results. As a person trying for the very first time to grow plants from seeds. 5/8 success rate does not seem horrible. So far they are healthy and strong.

I’ve bought these sesame leaves about 3 times from this seller. I think this year I got old seeds because none of them germinated. I tried soaking in the water, putting the seeds on wet cotton pads, planted in jiffy pallets. All happened indoors with recommended temperature setting.

First of all, I was so happy to find these seeds on Amazon. Like many other reviewers said, these are the Perilla seeds. (Korean ggaet-nip) It was my first time growing these and had trouble getting them to germinate. I reached out to holt garden and got a very quick/friendly response on how to help with the process of germination. After following the thorough instructions, all my seeds are growing into beautiful Ggaet-Nip plants. I used to have to make a trip to the Korean Market just to buy this. I am so happy I can just grow them in my backyard now.

    Growing well!

I have just become enthralled with perilla leaves almost always mislabled sesame which they definitely aren't although no one seems to know why. I get carried away with new things and decided to try to grow these leaves. When you can find the, leaves, they tend to be too small. They are a fragrant leaf which is put up in a hot, spicy sauce and often called a kimchi.
The are supposed to be hard to start, but can be easy to maintain like other ground cover. It will be months before I have a useful rating and will likely neber get that far with them. Most people should find and use the finished product, which Amazon has. They are just a little spendy, but more than tolerable.

Excellent germination rates. Flavor is as expected. I love this herb--so many uses, can be pickled, wonderful used fresh. Very unique taste. My only complaint is that having to pay shipping makes it rather expensive for a packet of seeds. It's a better deal if you buy it elsewhere where you can buy a bunch of different seed packets instead of having to pay shipping for just one. But the quality of these seeds is good. If you're having trouble with germination, try the damp paper towel method instead. Fold up a damp paper towel (not dripping wet but not too dry), place seeds on paper towel and place paper towel into a zip top bag. Check on the seeds daily to make sure they're not too dry or getting moldy. As soon as you see sprouting happening, move the sprout into moist soil-less potting mix. Don't overwater, but don't let the seedling dry out while it's still very small. Once it has a few true leaves, you can stop being too obsessive about keeping the soil moist. If growing outside, it's easier to start it indoors like this and then transplant it out when it has a few true leaves.
