SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION features unreleased versions of every album track, as well as monitor mixes for the album recorded in 1989. In addition, the collection includes nearly two dozen previously unreleased tracks taken from the session tapes that highlight working versions of album tracks and more. The set also includes the CD debut of Slip of the Tongue: The Wagging Tongue Edition. Released exclusively on vinyl in 1989, it features Coverdale being interviewed about each track followed by the song.-SLIP OF THE TONGUE: 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION finishes big with Whitesnake’s 1990 headlining performance at the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington on CD and DVD. The DVD also includes three music videos, all of which have been carefully restored and remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time ever. A new promo video for the track “Sweet Lady Luck”, made exclusively for this set, a behind the scenes look at the making of the album, plus a newly recorded interview with Coverdale and Vandenberg rounds out the DVD.

    I was there right after Purple and when the band first released this, it was the height of their American Fame. It was kind of like watching the Bee Gees do their Fever period just 10-years before. Sadly though, when the band tours in my area, they do this album and 1987 plus maybe a few of their later recordings - but they ignore anything up to 87 and anything Purple. I have to take a plane across the pond to Hammersmith's if I want to be a part of the proper Whitesnake Choir.

    It's not to say this music is bad, it's not, it's brilliant, but it's only a small chapter in a vast catalog of what I think is a brilliant career headed by a man who was much maligned at first, but now has proven himself. Sure, he was usually a part of the 2nd wave of things, rather than the 1st, but in hindsight, it's not important anymore. He's still active, releasing new things and touring, spry as ever, and I'll keep listening and going to shows, but not today due to the pandemic. LOL.

    It's sort of a shame that most people I speak with don't know he was in Purple nor that earlier forms of Whitesnake actually had Jon and Ian Paice in there - essentially half of one of the later forms of the Band. That for of the band was actively touring at the same time as Blackmore was doing Rainbow. That's how most of us got our Purple fix until the 80s proper reunion. Heck, most people don't seem to be aware of how Purple, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Sabbath, and many others are intertwined.

    If you ,loved this album, this is a chance to hear it all again, crisper, cleaner, sharper - and remixed in some cases different than ever - and get some insight with the rough mixes. I had always preferred the 1980 original of Fool for Your Loving, but I was there for that LOL and saw them go through all the rerecords and go through their sudden rise. This was just around the peak, if not just right after.

    A few years later, he would do the brilliant album with Page, also reviewed and also something I love.

    Wie auch die "Slide it in" Box, ist diese Box qualitatativ hochwertig hergestellt. Top Qualität in Buch, Beilegeheft und die Schuber incl. Schutzthülle für CDs und DVD.
    Der Nachfolger zum Mega-Platinium Seller "87". Wie ich finde, keinesfalls schlechter und mit enger Hitdichte. Die Entstehung des Albums war ja durchaus abenteuerlich, da sich Gitarrist und Mitkomponist Adrian Vandenberg
    unmittelbar vor den Aufnahmen zu "Slip of the Tongue" so stark die Hand verletzte, dass er durch Steve Vai ersetzt werden musste, der alle Gitarrenparts einspielte. Das Wieso und Warum wird in dem Buch sowie in dem Extra für diese Box ca.40 Min. geführte Interview mit DC und Vandenberg erklärt.
    Tja, und da ich die Headliner-Live-Show aus 1990 in Donington noch nicht besitze, war die Box für mich sowieso ein Pflichtkauf. Das meiner Meinung nach beste Hard n Heavy Musiker-Line up, das zur damaligen Zeit auf einer Bühne stand: DC, Tommy Aldrige, Rudy Sarzo, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Vai. Was für grossartige LivePerformer!
    Die DVD ist noch gespickt mit den drei Hit-Videos aus MTV-Zeiten und einem Behind the Scene Video der Entstehung des Albums.
    Die Interview-CD mit Coverdale Track by Track ist durchaus witzig und interessant und dass man die Donington-Show jetzt auch als Audio in gutem Sound erhält ist prima!
    Ich bin mit der Box sehr zufrieden und kann sie nur empfehlen!
