Fluid Watercolor Paper by Speedball was created specifically for the fine artist. Crafted with great pride by our European mill masters with over 400 years of paper making experience. This paper is produced at slow speeds for precise control that creates a stronger, premium quality paper with the look, feel and performance of 100% cotton paper but at an affordable price. Our unique Easy-Block method of binding means the pad is glued on the two long edges without any need to stretch or tape the sides of the paper, so it can be used as both a block and a pad. You can easily remove the sheet when finished by simply sliding a palette knife or letter opener in the open side of the paper under the top sheet. Each block contains 15 sheets of 140 lb (300 gsm) white high alpha cellulose paper and is available in either a cold press or hot press finish. The cold press finish has a subtle tooth and is ideal for a variety of wet media techniques. The hot press finish has virtually no tooth and its smooth finish is perfect for artists who prefer precise markings and seamless blending. The 12 artist friendly sizes and formats make it easy to find one that inspires your creative spirit and can easily be carried or tossed in a backpack or tote for art on the go!

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this paper. I've been using it for spray watercolors, and for spray acrylics. I love how it absorbs the paint well, and when used with acrylic sprays it hardens up, so much that it almost feels like a stiff canvas. I've tried lots of paper, and each has its purpose, but I dabble in a lot of mixed media, and this is perfect for me, as it should be for others. It's good for stenciling, as well.

While slightly more expensive than some other papers, I like the thickness and the texture and how well it holds wet media. It's worth a little bit more, because the results are so much better. I'd like to take personal credit for the difference, but in honesty, it's this paper that makes the difference. It makes my work look better, and more vibrant. I'm very happy and satisfied with this paper.

(It curled up a bit while saturated but then flattened out fully on its own so don't be concerned if this happens to you. The paper was so saturated with paint when that happened. You can either just go with that, and wait for it to dry and flatten, or use a regular amount of paint. I was experimenting with new paint, and was initially concerned. I put it to the side for a short time, and it flattened out as it dried. I did NOT need to weigh it down).

This is the greatest paper I've found so far. I highly recommend it.

For me, this paper is perfect in all ways.
