- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2003By nature I am a worry wart. Maybe it's in the genes; I don't know. I do know that in spite of a wonderfully spiritual upbringing (I've read the Bible all the way through at least five times) and reading many self-help books, I still have had a hard time trusting God or other people. I couldn't understand why, and I didn't feel like I could blame my religion.
In fact, at one time I considered this Biblical quote: Mark 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? (Jesus speaking). And I answered the passage myself, "I don't know? How is it that I have no faith?"
Some time later I learned of the Sedona Method. It is not a religious system as such, but basically it teaches you how to release FEELINGS. I was intrigued by this, as it seemed like most of my struggles with faith were on the "feeling" level. Even when my mind knew that things would be all right, I could't get my raging feelings and emotions to cooperate. At the time I heard first of the Sedona Method it was on a set of ten cassette tapes. I ordered a set, began listening to them and right away I started benefitting from them.
Then the book came out, and it incorporates the basic Sedona Method as well as some "advanced" ideas from two other sets of tapes put out by the same company. I ordered the book the minute I saw it being offered on Amazon.com. And all I can say is, WOW!
As with the tapes, this book gives you a step-by-step way to release feelings. It is a "system" as opposed to a mechanistic "formula." It is written in a loving, supportive and empathetic way. The Sedona Method is simple, but that doesn't keep it from being very profound. And you don't have to have the audio tapes to understand the book. It is written very clearly and simply, but the ideas are very profound and I've had lots of times of reading a paragraph and just stopping -- and thinking -- and internalizing.
I am still learning. I am worrying less than before -- and when I do worry, I am able to release it faster than before. This book will probably be one of my most prized posessions.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2024I’ve been trying to get into journaling and this book might do it! It’s highly recommended by several podcasts I listen to. It’s well written and has useful exercises.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2003I've got the Sedona Method course on CD and find it to be a very simple yet effective method for reducing stress (and much more). The concept of letting go of thoughts and emotions is a basic yet powerful one.
I just got through reading this book and was delighted to see that it is not merely a transcript of the Sedona Method course. It provides a lot of insights and good solid written material and examples which serve as an excellent compliment to the basic course.
It has been very helpful to have some written material to backup that which is in the taped sessions. While listening to the tapes I just didn't have enough time to be doing the exercises and also taking notes. This book serves perfectly as my notes on the course. It is a great companion and refresher on the concepts of the Sedona Method.
Also, if you have been considering attending or buying the Sedona Method course - you should really check out this book as it gives complete and in-depth information about the course. This is not just a teaser book that constantly admonishes you to get to the course to learn more. This gives the actual material that is in the course which costs a couple hundred dollars at least.
This has been an exceptionally useful concept to me which I rate as somewhere between meditation and self-help. Well worth a look for anybody seeking to improve their thoughts and actions.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2014I am a scientist-turned-mom and not keen on Gurus or self help seminars or anything in that general vicinity. My life is really quite comfortable and safe in a lower middle-class sort of way, but I felt overwhelmed and stressed a lot of the time for no good reason. I knew it was a perception, not really what my life looked like.
After not buying this for years I finally relented and applied the release your feeling-method. And it helps! I am doing it whenever I become aware of an emotion and it has really helped dealing with anxiety. Not when you are in the middle of a panic attack maybe, but otherwise its a clear yes. Eg, today i have a job interview. Last time I could barely do it with Xanax and stressing my poor family endlessly beforehand. This time I'm somewhere close to giving a hoot. Not entirely, but it's fine.
Sooo. I don't believe all it suggests in the book, like when I stop resisting being rich, I'll suddenly inherit millions or the market will turn in my favor. Not so. But what I do believe is that you can't force anything with stress and anxiety; if anything, it affects you negatively by affecting others negatively. So let go! Nothing is going to happen. Only, you'll feel better.
Thumbs up!
Ps. I don't like the youtube videos. Too guruish with weird happy backgrounds. But the book is mostly okay.
PPS little update: I got the job after a few more twists. Did Sedona do it? No, I did, but Sedona helped me not obsess as much over it and maybe keep the heart rate down before the interview. Still thumbs up for a useful method of reducing anxiety.

5.0 out of 5 stars just let go.. for a healthy wealthy happy life
an excellent book, i would recomment to anyone interested in self help strategies. this book explains the simplest technique of just letting go of feelings rather than thoughts. its sooo strange that all these years, we have been using this simple technique everyday in so many ways, but unconsciously. Hale Dwoskin has very simply and beautifully opened my mind's eye for a better happier life. i started letting go of any feelings that arose within me, and i am feeling better each day. i can work with much more calmness and peace of mind. i was so thrilled and charged with this book, that i went ahead and ordered for the free cd and dvd from sedona. having viewed the same, i have now ordered for the home study audio course. waiting eagerly to receiving the same, and learning more in depth about the simple philosophy which we all need for a healthy wealthy happy life. hail hale..

5.0 out of 5 stars Très bien

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Self-help Book I ever bought
I wanted to believe I could change my life for decades. I have a huge shelf full of books, ranging from self-help, over new-age, law of attraction, loving universes, visualization (which since I now know I have aphantasia was a lost cause for me to begin with), mantras, mudras, qi-gong all the way to wicca, magick, runes, angels, demons and probably a whole bunch more which I don't even remember anymore.
On top of the filled shelf I must have filled a whole garbage dump with books that ended up being so completely worthless I just threw them out.
And the best thing that any of the above mentioned books ever did for me was that in one of them the author mentioned the Sedona Method, praising it up and down (and well deserved praise). So I ended up buying that one too, at that point not even really believing anymore that any of these books would ever fulfill even a fraction of what they promised.
It was hands down the best decision I ever made in life!
The Sedona method does not impose any religious or pseudo religious beliefs. There is no God/dess(es), no angels, no demons, no karma, no loving universe (which in the end does not giving a flying... about you). You don't spend endless hours repeating affirmations, which in the end not only don't work, but make you feel even worse than you did to begin with. You don't spend endless hours in meditation, you don't open yourself to any divine light (for God's sake go to a church for that) or anything like that. In fact no matter what religion you follow, the Sedona Method can be practiced without any conflict with that religion, because this method does not impose any type of spiritual beliefs.
There is just you and your feelings, and an extremely effective, but equally simple way to accept and then let go of these emotions.
And that's it in a nutshell.
But don't let the simplicity of it scare you off.
I had barely scratched the surface of this method when after three months I had shed a state of depression I had carried around for 15 years!
Getting more proficient with the releasing now, I have had a series of other successes of dislodging repressed feelings, some of them I had carried around for over 40 years now and could not even remember until the Sedona Method helped me bring them to the surface and let them go. This method works better than any psychiatrist and that for about 15 Euros (I'm currently in Germany) where a few sessions with a professional would very quickly clock in 1,000 Euros or more.
I'm also getting to the point where people around me start noticing a positive improvement in my demeanor, even my wife who categorically refuses to try releasing some of her own feelings, had commented repeatedly that she likes the way I am now.
But it is anyway not about what other people think of you. It is about you and no one else. And through working with the Sedona Method myself I have also learned to accept that my wife needs to find her own way. I support her when she asks for my support, help her when she asks for help, but let her be when she does not. I no longer get neither sad for her nor angry with her, when she once again gets hysterical, hating the whole world and losing herself in literally hours of swearing up a storm. Maybe one day she will allow me do introduce her to Sedona... but if not it is her life, her choice.
I myself feel better, happier, more confident and much more liberated than I had for decades before trying the Sedona Method. But I know, even by now, I have barely scratched the surface of what it can do for me. I do know by now, however, that I can with a clear conscience recommend this book to anyone hoping to find a way to find some peace in their life or hoping to turn their life around.
Unlike anything else I have tried in the past, the Sedona Method really works and that with almost no effort at all. You may need to be willing to persevere for the first few weeks, before you have your first really profound success. Looking back at it, there were smaller successes much earlier too, but if your emotions are as repressed as mine were, you may not notice these small successes right away. But give yourself a few weeks, the Sedona Method does not require a lot of effort or time. In fact once you start working with it, it is easy to just go through the process while doing something else at the same time (doing the dishes, waiting for or riding on a bus, walking the dog, cleaning the house, anything that has become routine and that you have to do anyway - don't do it while driving a car though!).
One last point I would like to make. As mentioned before I have tried a LOT of things before arriving at the Sedona Method. And some of those things are much more hazardous than one might think. And I'm not even talking of the occultism and magick right now, but even things that seem as innocuous as meditating. I have had experiences that while (or after) meditating suddenly repressed feelings surfaced, so powerful they almost overwhelmed me. Problem was, this was pre-Sedona time for me. I did not know how to deal with them at the time and neither did the meditation books I had ever mention what to do when that happens (or even warn you that it might happen). So I pushed them back down, which of course was a mistake.
The Sedona Books starts off teaching you the basics of releasing emotions (i.e. "deal with them"). Now that I have acquired this really simple skill it is no longer a problem when unexpected and long repressed emotions suddenly surface. In fact, even if they make me feel miserable and make me cry for a moment, it is a desired, even joyous occasion when it happens, because now I can "deal with them" and let them go, literally freeing myself from them for ever... and when I do that, this is one of the best feelings I ever had! And then I can let go of the success feeing as well and truly be free.
This is what the Sedona Method could do for me. I had searched literally for decades until I found it. I am confident, if you give it a chance it can do the same for you. But as written in the book itself: don't belief anything just because someone else says so or writes it (including the Sedona Method). Try it out and judge for yourself. It doesn't help you to "belief" in something. You must live it.
