From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Hotel Nantucket: After tragedy strikes, food blogger Hollis Shaw gathers four friends from different stages in her life to spend an unforgettable weekend on Nantucket.

Hollis Shaw’s life seems picture-perfect. She’s the creator of the popular food blog
Hungry with Hollis and is married to Matthew, a dreamy heart surgeon. But after she and Matthew get into a heated argument one snowy morning, he leaves for the airport and is killed in a car accident. The cracks in Hollis’s perfect life—her strained marriage and her complicated relationship with her daughter, Caroline—grow deeper.

So when Hollis hears about something called a “Five-Star Weekend”—one woman organizes a trip for her best friend from each phase of her life: her teenage years, her twenties, her thirties, and midlife—she decides to host her own Five-Star Weekend on Nantucket. But the weekend doesn’t turn out to be a joyful Hallmark movie.

The husband of Hollis’s childhood friend Tatum arranges for Hollis’s first love, Jack Finigan, to spend time with them, stirring up old feelings. Meanwhile, Tatum is forced to play nice with abrasive and elitist Dru-Ann, Hollis’s best friend from UNC Chapel Hill. Dru-Ann’s career as a prominent Chicago sports agent is on the line after her comments about a client’s mental health issues are misconstrued online. Brooke, Hollis’s friend from their thirties, has just discovered that her husband is having an inappropriate relationship with a woman at work. Again! And then there’s Gigi, a stranger to everyone (including Hollis) who reached out to Hollis through her blog. Gigi embodies an unusual grace and, as it happens, has many secrets.

The Five-Star Weekend is a surprising and captivating story about friendship, love, and self-discovery set on Nantucket. It will be a weekend like no other.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for The Five-Star Weekend

"A dreamy Nantucket house party given by a meticulous hostess goes off the rails....The people in her books may screw up, but Hilderbrand always gets it right...Amazing."―
Kirkus Reviews (starred)

"...a stunning, sun-drenched mix of romance and women’s fiction...This should become a beach bag staple."―
Publisher's Weekly

"Hungry with Hollis is one of the internet’s hottest sites, but when Hollis’s husband dies in a car crash, her peppy posting flags. To cheer herself up, she curates the perfect house party with five close friends. Well, four close friends—and one follower she’s made a special connection with. Wait till she finds out just how special their connection is. If you aren’t already addicted to Hilderbrand’s Nantucket novels, there’s no time like the present."―
Oprah Daily

“Hilderbrand's latest is dripping with her signature Nantucket details; the food descriptions alone are enough to get readers to book the next ferry. Readers will be transported both by the setting and the emotional drama as Hilderbrand sets up seemingly impossible odds, then manages a convincing happy ending…It's not officially summer without a novel from Hilderbrand, and she delivers exactly what her readers want—female friendship, family drama, and gorgeous descriptions of Nantucket.”

Definitely a 5 Star-rating for "The Five-Star Weekend"
This is a light, easy read, perfect for vacation time at the beach (which is where I read it). The plot revolves around the main character, Hollis, inviting her daughter and four other friends/acquaintances for a "Girls Out" weekend on Nantucket. With food and drink and boating and pool and beach time and shopping and nightclub dancing and top-rated restaurants and an uninvited guest and all the drama of each invitee . . . well what could go wrong?? It's a page-turning whirlwind weekend with very well-developed characters so you'll feel the emotion of each person's stories and secrets. The author even cleverly inserts several plugs for her novel, "The Hotel Nantucket," at the right times and places. It's as positive a novel as the title of the final chapter (not Epilogue) suggests. My only sadness-when I finished. You'll love "The Five-Star Weekend!!"

Truly enjoyed reading this book. It kept my interest from start to beginning. No real mysteries. True true familiar stories about coming of age and make it romantic mistakes. I think you will enjoy reading this.

This was my favorite of the Elin Hilderbrand books I have read - such a variety of interesting characters, a story that build throughout and has some interesting well written side stories that all contribute. Not quite a 5 star for me, but I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars. A wonderful summer read!

....storyline. I always enjoy her books, but this is one of my favorite reads for 2024. I won't rewrite the synopsis or retell the entire book in my review (I skip those kinds of reviews....who needs to read the book after some of those reviews!), so I will tell you how it made me feel. I enjoyed the character builds and their relationship with each other. I love how the author's descriptions make you feel like you are right there, yet are not so overly detailed that you start skipping paragraphs. I love how it wasn't a sappy, perfect life story, yet was a mixture of warm and cozy moments mixed with thunder and lightning moments. I loved it all! Even the ending. Read it. You will not regret a moment of your time spent with this wonderful book.

The friendships that the main character had with each lady except one. It was refreshing the different backgrounds of each of the women. The common denominator that they loved the main character. Even as grown women they still find the need to impress and show who is the favorite. The main character wanting to be loved again by her daughter. Needing the approval from her grown child. I can relate to that part. The mystery guest and what she turns out to be and represent to the main character. The main character has a heart of gold and is a true lady despite being pushed to her limit. It's shocking to still have some women being bullies at this age. Not being encouraging to one other. Kicking people when there down. The social status still being what leads instead of a person's heart and having a great spirit. I loved the book well written as always!

This was really enjoyable! I can't imagine hosting my own five star weekend, honestly. I've had wonderful friends throughout the stages of my life, but I don't see them blending much more smoothly than Hollis's friends. I enjoyed reading how her weekend played out while taking a mental walk down memory lane of my own life story in friends.
