Product Description

Emmett wants to sell his recently deceased mother’s house, but lingering memories of childhood abuse soon emerge when he and his fiancé Anya stay the night. Anya convinces him to take mushrooms to get him to let go. But something strange happens while they’re tripping: she starts behaving like his mother. The next morning, he wakes up sober, but she still won’t drop the act... Anya loves playing games — is this her taking it too far? Or did his mother’s spirit somehow possess her? With the most twisted depiction of a couple in crisis in which the power dynamics are ever-shifting, MOTHER, MAY I? is a psychological thriller about who we think we are and who we pretend to be.

Laurence Vannicelli is a very talented diredtor/writer. The movie was beautifully filmed with superb acting. I was on the edge of my seat a coupe of times. Emmett's troubled past slowly overwhelmes his reationshop with his partner Anya, who trys to have him confront and deal with is past trauma. Well worth watching. I am glad I came across this film on prime.

It was an OK movie I’m glad I got to watch it for free because if I paid for it I would’ve been disappointed. It was a little campy and the ending was, not wanting to give anything away, not to my taste at all.

This film is as smart and deep, as it is engaging and haunting. Yes, it is visually stunning, masterfully directed and expertly performed by talented actors. But it is much more! It's a piece of art which will leave you thinking and experiencing long after you are done watching it. It's a must see.

First, this is not a horror movie. It is a boring drivel of contrived dialogue and pop-psychobabble role reversal playing -- over, and over, and over, and over again. The old parent-child "I'll be you and you be me" technique is an interesting parenting process for your 7 year-old kid, but hey! we're grown-ups and we get it!

If we didn't get it by the first round, we absolutely got it by the 55th repeat of the same ridiculous scene.

That's enough. I could also describe what bad premise the plot has, or how the "big reveal" was obvious to both my wife and me after the first 18 minutes of the movie, or how totally boring the dialogue and directing was. But, like I said, I just don't even know where to begin.

I like these types of movies. It was engaging a cut my interest. It was a good plan I recommend.

"Psycho-drama" because his girlfriend suddenly becomes possessed by his mother, apparently. Or maybe because it features a man and his mom, but it's not doesn't touch on Oedipus complex so not all that psychological. Kind of ends up being like the Woody Allen film where his mom's ghost appears in the sky reminding him to brush his teeth or something. It feels more like an actors' workshop where the girl's character suddenly changes to his dead mom's. It made less and less sense, I became more and more irritated and then I did not finish it.

I was on the edge of my couch throughout the whole movie. And that mortician was drop dead gorgeous. I want him to dress my corpse.
