The Strathmore 300 Series Palette Paper Pad provides a great surface to mix acrylics, casein, and oils. This paper is poly-coated so you can easily use it as a disposable paint-mixing palette for simple and easy mixing without the clean up. Simply tear off the sheet you mixed on and throw it away. The next sheet will provide a clean palette to work from. Paper is our art form, and we celebrate artists. It’s glossy, smooth, albeit a tad small if you use a bunch of colors in one go. Definitely worth it, though!

    An untrained hobbyist digital artist for almost 10 years, I recently decided to put the stylus away for a while and do art via physical mediums. Acrylic, watercolor and oil paints are just a few of the mediums I've been trying out.

    I own, operate and maintain a few 3D printers as another hobby, and have designed a few of my own palettes and 3D printed them. The palettes work for my watercolors, but I found it difficult to mix paint colors on my palettes. Plus, my 3D printed palettes are difficult to clean with acrylics and near impossible to clean with oils. Watching some painting advice videos on the internet, I saw these palette papers being used and though "BINGO!".

    These papers work great for me! I've heard you can using baking sheets as well, and may be something I look into in the future since it's probably cheaper. But I really like just being able to tear a page out of this pad and start loading it with paint. When I'm done I can just toss the paper. I have a small desk I use for my art, so space is at a bit of a premium. These pages are still small enough that I can keep one by my canvas while still allotting space to put down a few different colors of paint and mix them at different dilutions.

    I suppose you could clean them but I haven't attempted this and probably won't. I have crudely "reused" a couple of papers with acrylic paint. I just used up as much of the acrylic paint on the paper as I could, let the paint dry, then put down more paint on the dried paint, making sure to match colors to location. This worked well for a couple of times and gets a little more life out of one of these sheets.

    I'm quite happy with these sheets and feel they've helped me in my art, by providing me a means to control my paint.

    The paper still has a decent surface on it. Many of the brands have changed! Also It has been a hunt these days to find a palette paper still fastened down on more than one side. I've tried several brands. This is what I'm settling with. It is holding up okay in the freezer. It's a good and decent product. Not as good as the old days when the paper palettes used to be gummed on three sides. But this IS on two, and it is better than ONE, like most are now. I'm a professional who doesn't like to scrape a glass palette. I know - not good for the landfill, but putting it in the freezer means I use up my paint!

    Using this palette paper is far better than a using a plastic palette that you need to continually clean. Sometimes I load this paper with so much paint and then use water to mix...the moisture never soaks through to any paper below, and I've never had a problem with the paper warping. If I don't end up using one entire sheet during my painting, I simply let the leftover paint splotches dry, and then reload new paint on the blank spaces of the paper for my next painting. When the paper has been used enough for my liking (I'm thrifty!), it's so easy to tear off the sheet and go to the next one. Both ends of the paper tablet are secured, so there isn't any movement as you are loading your brush, mixing colors, etc. There is a very sturdy cardboard backing so you can easily hold the tablet while painting, and it will not bend.

    I love the large size and have been using this palette for a few years now. The only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five is the hole on the palette sheet for the artists fingers. For artists who like this then accept it as a five star for quality and sturdiness, but for me I would have preferred the extra space for my paints! (I wish they would do a larger size. My palette needs always need more!
