Working with Midpoints: Your Key to Predictive Precision and Astrological Insight Paperback – January 1, 2024
Purchase options and add-ons
Veteran astrologer and author Kathy Allan has crafted a new manual that will teach readers to hone their basic chart reading and predictive skills through working with midpoints, long considered a specialized topic in the field of astrology. Initially inspired by the astrology classic Working with Astrology by Charles Harvey and Mike Harding, Allan wanted to create a more user-friendly textbook. Exercises are included at the end of each chapter. After explaining what midpoints are and how to find them, Allan uses in-depth case studies that examine the lives and horoscopes of such cultural icons as Carl Jung, Evangeline Adams, and Stephen King, demonstrating midpoints in action. Allan shows us how to delineate transiting and solar arc midpoints as an aid to understanding events. Adding midpoints to ingress, eclipse, and return charts adds detailed information that enables us to more accurately anticipate coming events.
Readers will learn all about occupied and unoccupied midpoints, planetary axes, the 360 and 90 degree dials, plus how to contemplate and forecast future trends. At last, here is a systematic and engaging approach to – working with midpoints.
The perfect companion volume to Allan’s acclaimed book on the Lunar Nodes.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2024Midpoints are an astrological technique that provides specificity and precision. Unfortunately, they are not used by the majority of astrologers. This book is a comprehensive text that clarifies their use With homework exercises at the end of each chapter, the beginning student learns how to integrate midpoints into their client work.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2024This is an advanced-level astrology book. Very interesting well-written tome about midpoints when activated in one's chart by solar arc, transit. She cites historical examples of, among others, author Stephen King and Princess Diana. She illustrates examples in their lives of events that happened, and what midpoints were triggered when the events occurred. She didn't go into much depth about the combination of celestial bodies and what the blending of their midpoints reveals in a cookbook fashion, but she does go into detail when she cites the example in the native's life. Very well written and great research about midpoints and what their activation can translate to in the native's life. I highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024The only other current review here states this is an advanced astrology book, and it honestly isn't for anyone who doesn't understand a basic chart, aspects, transits and a bit of secondary progressions, but the author gives illustrations based on solar fire software with instructions on how to access the information on the program's software. In the beginning she gives the learning alternative of www, jcremers, which is too old for my older android. If you don't have a laptop to download the free, then you have to gnash your teeth and wing it. I had to go to YouTube to understand the basic midpoint dial. I'm sure astro fire is a wonderful program, but I didn't buy this book for a plug and a nod to software I don't currently own.
If you own solar fire then this would be a great book for you, but, based on the astrologers I know, they already understand midpoints without the software.
The author would be better off to reference sites available to all who want to learn instead of plugging a product.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2024Just started reading it but I see by table of contents there is lots of good info on midpoints for people who have a fair amount of astrological learning
