Venus: Her Cycles, Symbols & Myths (Special Topics in Astrology Series, 5) Paperback – October 8, 2006
Who is an enticing beauty, a bitch goddess, and the queen of every natal chart? Venus, of course! Investigating this heavenly body from all angles, Anne Massey brings new dimension to this undervalued planet.
Exploring Venus in mythology, fairy tales, and contemporary archetypes such as Marilyn Monroe, Massey uncovers this planet's striking personality. A close look at her cycles reveals gorgeous symmetry and sacred geometry, linking Venus to the golden mean, the pentagram, and other significant symbols. The author also focuses on this extraordinary planet's aspects and phases, in addition to her impact in the houses and signs, and discusses Venus retrogrades in depth. Lastly, no book on Venus would be complete without examining her dynamic influence on love and marriage.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2014If your looking for a text book about how mythology of Venus then this book is quite satisfactory, Nothing outstanding nothing wrong with it. It worked for me and I'm certainly going to keep it forever.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2011This book is an exhaustive detail of the cosmic nature and historical mythological source of the young feminine archetype within astrology, the planet Venus. The best aspect of this book is that it is a plethora of nerdy information about the planet: the cosmic nature of the orbit, retrograde periods and full and new phases and how it relates to human events. There is also plenty of information about the princess goddyss archetype that had influenced the ancient cultures in Western society that began the endeavor of astrology thousands of years ago in Greece, Sumeria and Babylonia. While this book is useful for the quantity of information about the love planet, its downfall is how poorly organized the book is and how the technical behavior of the planet is not worded very clearly so that anyone can understand what is going on without confusion. For example, I had to look at the rudimentary illustration of Venus orbiting the sun about five times until I understood the concept of how Venus changes it phase over time. Perhaps other readers will have an easier experience with this than me. I will admit, however, that this obfuscation is most likely the fault of the editor and not the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2008I'd like to say that this is a very fascinating book and I still have much to learn from it; I personally am loving learning Astrology in general and this is helping me come closer to my goal to someday become an Astrologist on the side~
