The American Ephemeris 1950-2050 at Midnight, The Trans-Century Edition, is published in response to multiple requests for a one hundred year ephemeris covering these "most useful years." With the years 1950 through 2050, only one ephemeris needs to be at hand, especially when traveling, for an astrologer to do quick lookups of both birth data and transiting data over the expected life span of most people currently living. Since the 1976 publication of the first version of The American Ephemeris, 1931-1980, Neil F. Michelsen''s ground-breaking series of ephemerides for astrologers have consistently set standards for accuracy in astrology, becoming indispensible to astrologers worldwide at every level from student to professional. The tradition continues with the addition of this new tropical ephemeris spanning from mid 20th century through mid 21st century. Rique Pottenger has revised and expanded the Michelsen programming with updated Jet Propulsion Laboratory data and improvements in the computer generating program that, for example, enable finding double ingresses in a single day, plus more accurate station times. A new formula increases the accuracy of the Galactic Center calculation. Other new features have been added, the most obvious of which are the dwarf planets Ceres and Eris, in response to the 2006 decisions of the International Astronomical Union. Monthly positions have also been added for the remaining three of the former four major asteroids in wide use among astrologers, Pallas, Juno and Vesta, and also for the centaur, Chiron.

Very handy book to have...
Very handy even if you are only using it for your own personal information. The info goes till 2050 so if the book holds up you are good to go till then. It is a paperback. The pages seem to be of good quality. The print is read easily and I find I do not have an issue with the size of the print because it is a bit small but to fit everything in nicely I suppose it could not have been large print or the book would weigh quite a bit. I am glad I purchased it.

While there are many online tools I love that this is something I can hold in my hands. It is the perfect tool to use while in sessions with my clients to do quick look ups on Saturn Cycles and such as well as other needs.

Whenever there is a discussion online to determine which Node to use (Mean or True) I reference this Ephemeris that utilizes the True Node.

It is also very handy to find out the shadow dates for mercury, venus and mars retrogrades. The D and R are clearly marked in the graphs. I don't use the moon column too much as I have many moon and eclipse books that provide better data.

Very easy to keep open and take photos with iphone - I pace a flashlight on other side to make it manageable along with a wooden ruler to get the most accurate data from each line.

Even if you have software and astrology apps, this ephemeris is very useful to gather the information quickly and easily.

A great gift for the astrology lover

It's by ACS so of course it is accurate, but unlike my red and white copies (1900-2000 midnight or noon), this one has Ceres between Mars and Jupiter. That is annoying. I realize that it is an asteroid, but the placement adds far too much weight to Ceres (which is still theoretical in astrological analysis), and placing it right in the middle of the tables is like creating a vertical scar down the pages. You can't ignore it and you can't erase it. It is also extremely weak in consideration of the visible planets. Highly disappointed. I may have to find another ephemeris company. Maybe Raphael's, or the Rosicrucians.

I've been using free ephemeris files online and finally bought this physical copy. It's great for tracking transits and the information is similar to the cafe astrology ephemeris that includes planetary / lunar ingresses, and void of course moon at the bottom of each page.

I would suggest purchasing "The Book of Tables" if you're trying to cast your own charts by hand in order to find the house cusps (I wish it was included within this one, but other than that it's perfect).

I gave this as a gift to a budding astrologer and was able to explain its use quickly (at least, I hope the quick lesson took). My own ephemerides from this publisher are heavily worn to the point of almost falling apart, but that gives them character (and takes many years of open and closing). I tend toward noon-position ephemerides, as I'm born at noon, but looking at midnight positions seemed to fit my night-chart giftee.
