Mohammed Albadi

Prof. Mohammed Albadi received a B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman in 2000; an M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Aachen University of Technology (RWTH-Aachen), Germany in 2003; a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo (UWaterloo), Canada in 2010. He is currently working as the Rector of Arab Open University-Oman. Previously, he worked as a Professor and Head of Electrical and Computer Engineering at SQU, a visiting Associate Professor at UWaterloo, and an Engineer at Petroleum Development Oman. His research interests include renewable energy, distributed generation, power quality, demand-side management, power system operation and planning, and power system economics. He published over 100 peer-reviewed international journal and conference articles in these fields and conducted numerous industry-funded research projects. He has received several awards including the SQU Best Researcher Award, SQU Research Excellence Award, and Best Paper Award in the IEEE IJEEE 2019. Prof Albadi was listed among the top 2% of Stanford University’s World’s most highly-cited scholars 4 times. He is an IEEE senior member and a member of the Oman Society of Engineers. He served as an associate editor and a reviewer for numerous peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
