Jimin claps like a seal; Taehyung cries; Junki meets the two of them and immediately starts using duckling metaphors. His mother meets them, and looks at Yoongi proudly, like he’s doing something right. His father shares their grandmother’s recipe for japchae with Yoongi alone, causing Junki to sulk explosively. It’s a good day.

“‘Piano’,” Taehyung mumbles as he writes it all down. “Fine. Done. I’ll make sure it doesn’t turn out looking like a vampire’s den.”Yoongi squawks; Jimin cackles; Namjoon bleats a laugh that shouldn’t be as endearing as Yoongi finds it. He crosses his arms and juts out his chin. The three men smile at him indulgently, which is… new. But not bad. Not bad at all.

He squeezes his eyes shut even more tightly and lets out a despairing yell. Just a short one, on principle. Seokjin is back, and he looks as good--if not better--than last time. His hair is a little longer, dyed honey-blond and pushed back from his face to reveal magnificent stern eyebrows that make him look distinguished and aloof. If it weren’t for the wattage of his smile, Yoongi would be severely intimidated--it’s A Lot.More patting on his back, somewhat more exuberant than Jimin’s ministrations.
“There, there, tiny hyung. Did you manage to at least talk to him this time?”

“I thought about a potted plant,” Yoongi is saying in that low voice that feels like a caress. “Namjoon disapproves of giving flowers that will just die in a week, and he has browbeaten the rest of us into agreeing. But I didn’t want to burden you with a responsibility to take care of something you didn’t want, or to make you deal constantly with a reminder of me and my fuck-up because you’re a nice person who cares about living things. That’s manipulative as fuck, and Namjoon can suck on that too.”

’s sweet. He’s sweet. A shy honey boy, really. He helps Jin tease Jungkook about his friends’ crushes on the kid, laughing a raspy hiccuping sound when Jungkook flushes bright red and hits Jin to make him stop. Jin loses time a little, watching that cute round face scrunched up in happiness, wide smile making his cheeks two round apples to be squished. Maybe his gut feeling wasn’t wrong. Maybe they can be friends.

Seokjin nearly dropped the butter, flustered and fumbling to not let it drop to the floor. "Fucking he-- Can you wear a shirt for once? It's unsanitary for the kitchen."
"You were cooking shirtless just last week." As soon as he'd said it, Jungkook seemed to realize, a knowing smirk crossing his face. "Wait, is that what's bothering you? My bare chest?"
"No!" Seokjin snapped, too emphatically. "Now move out of the way."
