    Katsuki rolled his eyes and continued to walk towards the door. “ Piss off.”

    Midoriya only smiled and walked with him. He cupped a hand around his mouth and leaned in. “ Happy Birthday, Kacchan! Mom says happy birthday too. I did what you told me and didn’t get you a big present, this time!”

    Katsuki bat him away, but he couldn’t help the smirk that grew on his face. Even though it’s shitty Deku, at least someone remembered, other than my old folk.

    either way, he's not used to celebrating it with people; much less anyone remembering or caring. he should really just get on with the day like he does his other birthdays; maybe he could get away with sulking in his room and training all day alone...

    sadly, he has extrovert friends who are dying to have a day out. and even if they have no idea how shitty he feels, he may as well let them enjoy the day, right?

    Bakugo nearly falls through the door when it opens. Kirishima, Red Riot, comes into focus, and his eyes flash with fear, maybe a little worry before masking themselves back into the stone-cold red that Bakugo’s used to seeing. Maybe the concern was just a trick of the light, maybe something that Bakugo’s adrenaline-infused mind just made up.

    He could kill me easily, Bakugo thinks. Or he could just let me die.

    But as his pain-addled mind debates those outcomes as well as it can, Kirishima is doing none of those things, and is hoisting him up gently so Bakugo’s weight can comfortably rest on him as his feet lift off of the floor.

    “Who got you?” Are the words out of Kirishima’s mouth, soft yet filled with anger; and then, quieter: "I'll kill them."

    Izuku...was acting odd, Katsuki deduced. In the past few months, his husband has been, undoubtedly, odd. Pausing in conversations, mid-walk, or halfway through a task, Izuku looked empty. Katsuki could tell something was off with his husband, but Izuku still smiled.

    He still made sure to tend to the gardens, singing softly to the flowers. What was even weirder was how the second Izuku was out of sight; the flowers would wilt and shrivel up so quick, Katsuki would blink, and they'd be dead.

    When Izuku slept, the man was usually a light sleeper, but now Izuku slept like the dead, body cold, heartbeat slow against his fingers, skin pale.

    He looked /dead./

    One day, Izuku was still asleep as it neared noon, and Katsuiki had a hunch.

    Carefully peeling the covers off, and hiking up Izuku's long sleep shirt, Katsuki's heart stuttered to a halt at the searing black fissures and cracks pulsing in his husband's back.

    But then she found out Masaru was cheating on her and it all came crashing down.
