Johnny Cade is once again hospital-bound after a flare-up at the Cincinnati children's hospital, over ten hours away from his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With nothing else to do, he spends all day looking out his room's window to the snow-filled parking lot. Usually, it would be a regular cold that would send him there for at least two weeks, but weird habits Johnny has accustomed to might keep him there for a lot longer than he thinks.
Ponyboy Curtis is a 15 year old who is once again, sitting in the same hospital ward he's known all his life. His day consists of drawing the things and people around him, doing his treatments and looking out the window. What he usually saw was the half-full parking lot, closed gray windows on the south building of the hospital and mini-malls scattered around it. this time however, there was one specific window that remained open no matter what hour of the day it was. in it sat a small, sun powered night light that always lit up that window at dusk, but more importantly sat a boy with greased hair and a jean jacket that seemed to catch his eye.

Later to be adopted by a loving couple, the Fezziwigs. When he is enrolled in public school, Scrooge meets the boy he'll forever know as his closest friend - Jacob Marley. Yet, unbeknownst to Scrooge - Marley is in love with him. However, at age 15, Scrooge enters a relationship with a girl called Belle Savelli. The concept of Scrooge dating Belle boils Marley's blood and he begins to plot ways to break them up. He dedicates the next four years of his life to splitting them apart - but are his efforts in vain?
This is a prequel to an already finished book, Increase The Surplus Population (ITSP). It's mainly context for ITSP and for fun. It's for the people who liked ITSP and wanted more context and backstory. I know a good group of people who were excited for this, so here it is.

Summary
Katsuki is sick of being seen only as rough and abrasive for his attitude, and his friends don’t make it any easier, so he decides to change it by starting to volunteer at a hospital in the city, in hopes to bring out a gentler part of himself.
There, he meets Rei Himura, not realizing who she is right away. Katsuki quickly becomes close with her, not only with Rei, but with her other children too. Yet, he's still clueless about her being his classmate Shouto Todoroki's mother.
Meanwhile, Shouto is dealing with his own demons. On top of feeling broken and scarred from his past, his life starts falling apart and he sees himself falling back into old bad habits as his father resurfaces, trying to take him away from his siblings.
For some odd reason, or perhaps because the volunteering is making Katsuki see the world differently, he starts noticing Shouto's odd behavior and gradually starts to approach him. As they grow closer, feelings start to bloom.
This is going to be a story about how broken things can be fixed, and even if you can see the cracks in them, they still look beautiful regardless.

A ridiculous series of events, unpredictable even to the Batman, by virtue of him not having ever planned for the inciting incident.
There are no contingencies for your co-worker genuinely calling you dad.
That doesn't happen in the JLA.
Bruce wasn't aware he was supposed to be an authority figure here.
How could he not have been informed of this?
Well, he must take steps to correct this oversight now.
Or
The Justice League are way younger, outside of the Big Three, and Bruce finds himself uniquely situated by virtue of his position(lol) to lead a kickass hero team!
