Chapter Text
With the week she was having, it's safe to say that Hollis was beyond pisssed. It had been almost ten days since she finally took down Lord Moldy-shorts and for the first 2 days she thought she could finally, finally, have some peace. After a less than stellar childhood and then the shit show that were her school years she felt that she could finally breathe. Sure, she was now the "Master of Death'',or Mistress rather, and she had no idea what that actually meant but she could figure all that out in due time. For now she could finally relax and enjoy her life. She was going to have to deal with the grief and guilt over the lives lost eventually, but she had been dealing with that since Cedric died so this was nothing new.
All that came crashing down when she met with the goblins to speak about reparations for the break in. Norslak, the representative she was meeting with as well as her account manager, immediately sensed something off with her aura. After testing her they found a few compulsions and potions in her system along with multiple layers of magical bindings and what seemed to be death magic which was the most recent.
It was then that Hollis learned about the manipulations of many of her so-called "friends". To think she had sacrificed herself for people who only wanted her for money or as a breeding mare was absolutely heartbreaking. She found evidence of an illegal marriage contract to Ron Weasley and of yearly payments to The Grangers, Molly Weasley and her two youngest children. After having all the compulsions broken and recalling all the keys to her vaults, which were apparently extensive, she went home. She originally planned to simply cut them all out of her life and continuing on with her other true friends. The next day those new plans came crashing down as well.
It had been three days, three bloody days, since she became the Woman-Who-Conquered and Rita Skeeter had already published an article bashing her. Headlined, HOLLIS JAMIE DOREA POTTER: AN ANGEL OR A DEVIL IN DISGUISE?, it accused her of being the next Dark Lord, or Lady. Because, after all, how could a simple expelliarmus, a spell taught to firsties, take out the Dark Lord? On top of that, it had interviews from none other than Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley claiming that she still had a piece of Voldemort's in her and was planning on bringing him back, and that she had been experimenting with Dark Magic.
It was then that Hollis knew it was all coming to an end. Despite what many may have believed, Hollis wasn't stupid. As a child she had had to hold herself back to never be better than ickle Duddykins and when she became friends with a jealousy prone Ronald and insecure Hermione, she continued to do the same so as to not lose those she considered her closest friends. She did, however, have a habit of reading in secret. After all, the library was one of the few places Dudley would never look for her and once she had her Cloak she could visit the one at Hogwarts at night without others knowing.
Because of this, she saw the warning signs. That same day after reading the article she returned to Gringotts and asked for a full set of both magical and muggle identification papers for her true identity and her fake ones under her mother's maiden name and Sirius’ last name. She also went and emptied every last one of her vaults into multiple expanded bags separated by money, books and artifacts. Loading those, along with anything of value from Grimmauld place and the Potter Ancestral home that she had discovered the day prior into an expanded trunk she charmed it with a feather light charm and a notice-me not. It was full of potions, ingredients, books, furniture, portraits, paintings, letters, old artifacts, the remains of the basilisk which she had taken to be harvested to the goblins and anything else she could possibly need. She shrunk the trunk and put it onto a charm bracelet, on which she also had the shrunken Hallows and an extended knapsack that had her fixed wand, identification, basic first aid kit, dagger, her dragonhide armour and a change of clothes.
It wasn't until two days later that they struck while she was returning from seeing Andromeda and Teddy in muggle London. She had left Andy with a sum of money for her godson and a warning that something would most likely happen to her soon, and something happened indeed. She was walking to the Leaky to Floo home when she felt a spell coming for her back. She sidestepped it and turned to see a few "disguised" aurors along with the other two thirds of the "Golden Trio" surrounding her. Hollis tried to apparate away only to find wards placed against that. In her shock she didn't feel the stunner sent her way and was knocked out.
When she came to she was in a Ministry interrogation room tied to the chair. Auror after Auror came in using many methods- including some that were more than unsavory- to try to get her to admit into using Dark Magic but for obvious reasons she kept denying it. When that didn’t work they used Veritaserum and when that turned up nothing they claimed she was using Dark Magic to defy the effects.
Which brings us back to the present. Hollis was currently being dragged through the Department of Mysteries toward the one room she had never wanted to see again. The Veil Room was much the same as it was two years prior when Sirius fell through it. The only difference were the voices. What were once whispers were now pounding voices in Hollis’ head that only got louder the closer she was pushed. The last thing she saw before the blinding white took over her vision and the voices blocked out everything else was her once best friends smirking at her. Hermione even had the nerve to wiggle her fingers in a wave. The last thing Hollis felt was pure unadulterated rage. So yeah. Pissed was an understatement.
