Futaba sat in one of the booths at LeBlanc's having some curry with Ren's cousin Akemi, who was also having some curry.
While the others weren't around, they decided to get to know each other better. Plus, Futaba wanted to use this time to pick Akemi's brain about something.
"Okay, so what was on your mind that you couldn't ask Ren or the others?" Akemi asked her new found friend.
Futaba looked down at her plate for a moment, let out a big sigh and then looked back up at Akemi "So I wanna know... how can you tell when you're in love?" She asked.
The question caught Akemi off guard. No one had ever come to her for love advice before. But I guess that had changed when she gained a boyfriend recently.
Akemi sighed "What do you mean? Futaba-Chan... are you in love?" She asked.
Futaba nodded her head slightly which signified a "Yes" as her answer.
Akemi leaned back in her seat, and crossed her arms, glaring slightly at the redhead "You're not gonna tell me who it is, are you?" She asked.
"Just please tell me... how do you know? Like how was it when you met Ryuji?" Futaba asked.
Akemi smiled widely "Ryuji and I? Well... you were there Futaba... you'd know....what did you see?" She asked.
"Just you and him giving each other alot of eye fucking...mostly non verbal...and when you DID talk to him...it was nothing but small talk..." Futaba answered.
Akemi nodded but was shocked by hearing Futaba's use of the word Fuck. But she continued anyway with her explanation.
"Okay.... that's what you SAW... But how I felt inside was a totally different story. When he shook my hand, I felt like my insides had just turned into jelly and I was so warm suddenly that I wanted to melt." She said.
Futaba chuckled "Ahhhh... I've heard of this... Love at first sight... it's kinda sweet. Between you and I... that big goofball needs someone to give him love. The girls in this group... except for me...tend to treat him like shit. Especially Ann... I think she used to like him but then she ended up with Ren." She said, making a face of slight disgust at the last part.
Akemi went wide eyed for 2 reasons. One being that she wasn't aware that Ryuji was so unloved before she ever came along...and treated so poorly by his best friend? Secondly as she observed Futaba's disgusted facial expression, a realization hit her... "OMG! YOU LIKE REN!" She blurted out.
Futaba blushed and then got up to cross sides to Akemi's side of the table to cover her mouth "Shhhh....Geez louder why don't you? I don't think they heard you in fucking Akihabara" She said through clenched teeth.
Akemi removed Futaba's hand from her mouth "Man.... how did you let him slip through your fingers?" She asked.
Futaba looked at Akemi as she sat down "I didn't... if I had a chance, I would've taken him away from Ann... a girl like that doesn't deserve a guy that sweet." She said.
Akemi sighed as a jingle from the door made her turn around, she watched Ren come back without Ann this time. She turned to Futaba, got up, and then whispered to Futaba "Then tell him that..." She said as she walked away.
