Rebirth Of A Sombre Lifetime

Summary:

What if you got a second chance at life again?

For Teresa, she thought her story had ended.

They say your inner regrets come out and make themselves known. In the end, Teresa regretted everything. Suddenly, as if time had reversed, she finds herself lost when she wakes up inside a box and sees forty bewildered boys looking down at her. Including Thomas. In this original timeline, this Teresa is also meant for the same fate as her. Alone and misunderstood.

However this time, she's determined to have a happy future no matter what.

But can Teresa really change fate? And at what cost?

Chapter 1: Authors Note

Chapter Text

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONTINUING!

I have loved Maze Runner for a long time now and all the characters were so great to read and watch. But one significant character stuck out to me the most and that was Teresa. At first I disliked her and was confused about her actions until I delved deeper into her complex character and what she represents in the overall story.

For me, she seems like a flawed character, someone who bounces from black and white, right or wrong and it was intriguing. I also liked her relationship with Thomas and her pure desire to protect him even if he sees her in a negative light. Even if he hates her, that strong desire to protect him doesn’t disappear which leads to her tragic death.

So in the end, I ended up adoring Teresa. I liked her strong-will, her unwavering faith in wanting to save humanity, her bravery, her confidence to speak her mind, her resilience through hardships, her selflessness in protecting the person closest to her. She has a clear sense of who she is.

Overall, I loved her character, her story and her ill-fated relationship with Thomas. Which led me into reading more and more fanfics online about Teresa or sometimes Thomesa. But most didn’t understand her or views her as the bad guy in favour of another agenda. Though, some did capture her and I loved them.

Days passed and the more I read what I wanted, the more ideas emerged inside me of what could be, the more I thought about what I was looking for. I started to get a general idea what would make, in my mind, the perfect crossover between the books and movies.

The redemption story for Teresa if she was given a second chance. That doesn’t mean if she will die or live at the end though ;)

The plot has been twisted to form a more heartfelt and meaningful narrative, delving in to different aspects of protecting the people you treasure and saving the last of humanity. The divine forces that allow Teresa to live once more give her the power to change things and I wanted to play with how much this would work or not. The concept of meant to occur and what could alter for the future. Side note, key quotes will be added to represent this story being a fusion of both the tmr movies and books.

There are also parts which I both like and dislike them. Maybe I'll add some new scenes since Teresa is messing with the fabric of time. Also I’m changing some things in my own way so I know I might not get some scenes accurate or in order but I'll add my own twists to the scenes instead.

For example, Thomas’s blood is the cure, not his brain but Teresa is still ordered by WICKED to beat him up so he doesn’t get killed. The cliff does exist in the glade but instead, it’s not the exit. The griever hole will located in section 7 in a secret wall, the last section that hasn’t been found yet.

There are some other things I should clarify, in the maze runner, the boys are 16 except Chuck and Teresa who are 12 and 17. In the scorch trials, they are the same ages. In the death cure, the boys are 17 except Teresa who is 18. A slight change with a time leap, but just to make it more interesting and realistic. Also this is just my perspective on how I see the characters and what I gathered. This is what will be portrayed in the story.

Teresa seems more of an intuitive, forward and self-contained person but she can be playful and witty in her own ways, especially when she feels comfortable around someone. Whereas Thomas is a more quiet, awkward and driven person, who isn’t good with his words and uses his actions instead.

Newt is rational, thoughtful and someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. Finally, Minho seems more courageous, blunt and sarcastic, who likes to look at things head on. Chuck seems like the kind and innocent boy, who wants the best for everyone. My perspective of the rest of the characters generally match the majority of the tmr fandom.

Can Teresa save her friends and herself from their own cruel fates?

Can Teresa and Thomas’s bond withstand the corrupt forces of WICKED?

What will the relationship dynamics between Teresa and the boys form into within this new world?

Is WICKED the real challenge or defying fate itself?

Don't forget more Thomesa content will be added than what's showed in the movies or books. No hate please, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. For any confusion, here’s something notable to clarify below.
Bold writing = telepathic thoughts.
Italic writing= past memories or the forces of fate are talking.

I hope you enjoy reading my story. ♡

Fate has its own mysterious way of deciding how life should go, and none can change the course they have set. People can push what they have planned away. But in the end, it always comes back to that one ending. Changing what is written will prolong the inevitable in another shape or form of events. Or perhaps a price is required if one wishes hard enough. ~ Unknown.
