Chapter Text

“Are you going to the wedding?”

A wave of vertigo hits Cody, as if he knows exactly what Miz is going to say next.

“Wedding?” He mutters.

“Orton’s.. didn’t you hear? He said it’s a spur of the moment thing, but I was sure you were invited.”

“Wait..” he clears his throat to prevent his voice from warbling

“I didn’t know it was that serious..” his voice trails off.

“You alright, bud?” Miz asks.

Cody feels like a boulder dropped onto his guts.

“Yeah. Just winded. Ima go scrub this off.” He chuckles awkwardly, pointing to the thick make up covering his cherubic face.

“Excuse me.”

Cody stomps down the corridors in a haze, feeling sick to his stomach but needs to hear it from Randy’s mouth, now. His heart hammers in his chest as he closes in on his dressing room. He barges in, but is careful to close the door as silently as he can.

“Why? Why, again? Why are you doing this?”

Randy takes a deep breath, but already feels a tremble deep in his core.

You’re married, Cody.”
He says plainly, in an attempt to keep his voice steady.

“She knows the situation. We have an arrangement. You know that.

Answer me. Why ?”

Tears well in his eyes and mix with the make up he despises to wear and it stings his eyes for good measure.

“ ‘Cause I need to build a family, Cody.”

is he really saying that?
he can’t be. .

“So I am no longer your family? You always said I was all the famlly you needed…so that was bullshit?”

Randy grinds his teeth. “You’re my family…n’ the most important thing in my heart. I thought you got that.”

He can barely look up at Cody.

“Look,I’m sorry you’re hurt — that things can’t be different.

But we can’t change ‘em.

You may mean everything to me, but you’re not a woman I can take home to my folks.”

Cody laughs wryly and looks up at the ceiling.

“When I wanted us to come clean to my close family, so we’d have somewhere to go together a couple times a year,

for holidays n’ shit, you said you didn’t care for anyone’s approval —

you just needed me and I was enough!

You fucking hypocrite!”

“I’m sorry, Cody. It’s not enough.

I’m getting older n’ my folks keep pressing me about settling down.

I —  we need to keep up appearances.

You know that.”

He steps closer, hoping to comfort him, caressing the back of his neck.

Cody gazes right through him, his eyes cold as if entranced.

“Try n’ see reason. We can still see each other.

Nothing has to change with us.

Cody slaps his hand away.

“I may not be a woman you can take to your folks, but you’re not even a fucking man.

You’re not half the man my father was..

you weren’t fit to lick the mud off his boots.”

He smiles broadly, cynically, his roseate lips curling up over his glimmering teeth like a wolf ready to tear into his newly caught prey.

“You know, Randy, he always feared what you would do to me..

that you’d use me. .

he never wanted me anywhere near you!”

Tears pour out Cody’s crystalline eyes, burning him like acid and the whites of his eyes are bloodshot, glowing red with bitterness.

Surely you remember that much.

Cody’s words are canines, tearing his heart down the middle. He bends over as if he has been kicked in the ribs.

He has no retaliation, he knows he speaks truthfully about his father’s worries.

    I knew it,

but tried to be there for him like his old man was..

and in ways he couldn’t be

Randy sees red as he drowns in self loathing and Cody sobs, letting himself fall onto a bench. He looks up at him as tears pour out of his eyes, washing away some of his makeup, letting his flushed pink skin peak through.

“Meeting you has been the worst...”

he whimpers im effort to catch his breath

“the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.

I wish I’d never laid eyes on you.. that I never looked up at you that day...”

he starts to hyperventilate

“that you never looked at me with those eyes that wanted me so badly

his chest convulses, and his voice trembles as he tries to take a breath

“you wanted me so badly, only to shut yourself off from me,

when you were done picking my bones!”

Randy is nauseous, from his heartache and from the look of pain in Cody’s sweet eyes.

how could you do this to him?

coward

Randy’s ego tears into him but he tries to breathe and straighten back up.

“Well, ya know what?

Being with ya is the best goddamn thing that’s ever happened to me!

Everything else in my life has been a long fight.

Beinyours has been a dream, Cody. A dream!

He sobs and takes a deep breath.

“But maybe it’s time we wake the fuck up.”

“I fucking hate you, Randy!”

Cody screams and pulls at his own short hair as hard as he can.

“I hate you, so…fucking much.”

He gasps out as his lips quiver.

“I know you don’t mean that.”
Randy kneels face to face with the broken mirror that is Cody’s angelic face, twisted in pain because he exists in his world.

If this is to be the last time they speak Randy needs to see all of him and feel all that he is in this moment.

Please, Cody..”

he begs through the effort to stifle sobs

“tell me you don’t mean that.”

“I mean it.”

He wipes tears away roughly and smears more metallic makeup away and reveals more of his face.

“Yet I know as long as I hate you, I’ll still love you all at once…it’s my fate to be cursed with you, forever.

Cody’s head falls into his hands and he sobs so hard his shoulders rise and fall with every painful wail.

Randy continues to cry silently, although his blood boils. He has never felt such a lack of control, such hatred for himself and such disdain for Cody’s beautiful eyes as they dissolve with his love for him. All these emotions sear Randy like an iron brand .

this is what I’ve feared all along..

this is the nightmare coming true. .

Randy grabs Cody’s face with a vice grip.

“Stop.

Please, stop?

I can’t take it.
I can’t take you hating me.

I do enough of that on my own.”

Good! Fuck you, Randal.”

Cody glares at him, the blue of his eyes burns him like permafrost against the red hatred of his love.

“You’re a coward.
And I’ve become a coward for you..

hid in the shadows with you.”

They hold the impassioned glares in each other's eyes as they spiral in torment, and feel as if they are kids six years ago, as they try to hold back from their first kiss, but they know this will be their last.

Cody digs his nails into Randy’s wrists, trying in vain to loosen from his grip.

“Let me go..”

he whispers in defeat
“just let me go.”

His tears flow freely as his arms go limp.

Randy grunts in pain, forcing Cody’s gaze to his,

“I never wanted to hurt you. Never. I’m sorry Cody.”

He grinds his forehead against Cody’s and licks desperately at his lips, but they are pressed together tightly over his gritted teeth.

   need to taste him,

if it’s the last thing I do

Cody groans and digs his nails into Randy’s forearms, and tries to loosen his hold on him.

wish I could break his bones and run

Yet Cody is overtaken by his ardent skin and the incessant need in his eyes. He receives his tongue, and tasted all his venom, his pain and his confusion, having mercy on him once more.

Cody..

Cody.“

Randy grabs at him desperately and picks him up, taking him up against the lockers.

I need to feel his skin..

I’d kill for it

Randy rips at the collar of the vinyl bodysuit he is wearing, yanks it away, then clutches onto his neck and tastes his sweaty skin. He continues to rip the suit downwards, freeing Cody’s arms so he can embrace him.

Then he grasps all over his sinuous flesh with all the force his hands can muster and they moan unabashedly.

Cody scratches at Randy’s shoulders as he bites his lips, wishing to take a piece of him forever. He gnaws and runs his bottom lip through his teeth until he draws his blood and drinks from his fountains. His moans rise as he feels Randy’s granite hard cock grind against his.

“Take
me.

Do it..

before I think any more.”

Randy puts him on the bench, helping him unlace his boots quickly, then begins unlacing his own, but pries them off forcefully instead.

He goes to turn on the shower while Cody peels the clammy jumpsuit off of his legs and throws it onto his gym bag and

Randy fetches him and takes him in the shower. He spits a thick glob into his hand and covers his throbbing cock head then spits over Cody’s entrance and begins to push into his flesh from behind, faster than he ever has.

It hurts Cody, but everything he is feeling hurts much more and he just wants to be filled with him.

Randy strives to buck faster, but he still feels separated.

this isn’t enough..

I need to see him. .

need his heartbeat

Randy pulls out and turns him around.

“I need your eyes.. I needa see all of you.”

He kisses his temple then goes out to the dressing room, to grab towels and puts them on the floor. Then he picks Cody up and lays him down. He lets a considerable amount of spit fall on his cock again and reenters him slowly, aiming to feel Cody take every bit of his flesh.

They weep and moan freely while Randy laps up Cody’s tears as they roll down his face and presses kisses over his cheeks.

  is this the last time?

Randy puts his face in the crook of Cody’s neck to feel his heart beat as he carves into him, going deeper with each pitiful effort to conjoin with him for good.

wish I could crawl into him..

disappear . .

to live in him forever

He thrusts relentlessly, as he tries to bury into the only person that has seen the best parts of him and made him feel human.

“I fuckin’ love you, Cody..
I love you.

I’ll always be tied to you.”

Cody clutches Randy’s face and stares into his eyes.

I need to remember him like this..

“I love you...I’ll love you til death, Randy .”

They kiss arduously as they remember the first time they were ever together as one, six years ago,
back when the promise of building a future sparkled, pure and fresh.
Before the world tore them apart then pulled them in every direction.

Back before strife left stains on their pure, unbridled love for each other.

Randy looks into Cody’s beautiful crystal eyes and sees they overflow with pained love for him.
He can not believe he needs to let him go.

  If I dropped dead now,

I would be happy..

I wish I would

They savor one another’s taste, memorize each other’s touch and the sounds of their voices while breathing in each other’s air.

Randy pours all of himself into Cody with a long, banshee like growl, reverberating into Cody’s mouth;

a love howl, that will echo through time, only to be heard in the depths of Cody’s mind in the cold dark of what will be his new home when he leaves this company in a few weeks.

No more Randy in these corridors..

or running into him backstage,

or in the parking lot,

no more rendezvous in our dressing rooms..

I’m leaving and that will be my final strike.

my nail, sealing our love in a gilded coffin Randy built

Poetic justice..
We could have made it work,
but he told me I’m not enough

and that’s unforgivable

he’s choosing to kill us..

by binding himself

Cody’s thoughts comfort him as he decides to choose himself, for the first time in too long.

will our coffin ever be opened again,

for us to rise in necromancy?

He gazes into Randy’s eyes as they remain satiated because he floats in their shared ecstasy.

  in the final look,

does the buck forgive the wolf?
