Work Text:
Kamala Khan was supposed to be studying.
She had a test the next day at school and had yet to start preparing, but instead she was opening a new document on her computer.
She ended up writing about when she went to Aladna with Carol and Monica, acting as if it was fiction.
“Kamala? What are you doing?” Her mother asked.
“Uh-” she quickly closed the document.
“Studying.”
Sighing, she decided to actually start studying. It was history, not the worst subject, but it wasn't superheroes.
She studied (or at least tried to) until the sun had set. When she changed into her Ms Marvel costume and quietly climbed out the window—even if her parents knew that she was a superhero they weren't exactly okay with her going around all the time.
She went around the rooftops, nothing strange seemed to be happening.
“Hey! Ms. Marvel!”
She turned toward the voice and waved, “Hey again, Spider-man.”
“What are you doing out here?”
She shrugged, “We are in Jersey City, this is my area.”
“Oh, right.” He nodded. “I saw some videos of you on youtube.”
“Ditto.”
He laughed, “Do you have any social media?”
She raised an eyebrow, “You do remember the whole secret identity thing, right?”
“Yeah, but like Spider-man has social media, it's not under my real name.”
“Right,” Ms Marvel grinned, “People love your twitter posts.”
“Thank you, I'm assuming that means you don't have any?”
“Nope, it was hard enough convincing my parents I should be allowed one in the first place. Trying to convince them twice is practically impossible.”
“You’re still a minor?”
“Damn it, forget I said that.”
He shrugged, “Alright, I'm in high school too.”
Ms. Marvel laughed, “Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“Wow, who would've thought two of New York's superheroes were literal teenagers.”
