Work Text:

The golden generator whirred and its components shook as Seoung and Makoto both repaired it. Pulling and tugging on different colored, textured wires, they wanted to get out of this abandoned subway station as fast as possible. They weren't trying to get themselves killed. Not again. Seoung turned her head behind her back, watching if anyone, especially the killer, was coming. Seeing the silver subway train from the hallway, Seoung looked back at the generator and continued fixing the generator. Nobody. They were safe, for now. The lights on the generator began to flicker slightly, and both girls took notice. It was almost fully repaired!

Then, Seoung felt a strange feeling in her head. Seoung pushed it to the back of her mind and focused on repairing, but it kept on coming back, stronger each time. Seoung knew this feeling too well. The killer is close. The spirits were trying to tell her the entire time! Seoung looked up at Makoto, whose pink highlights had bits of sweat on them. Makoto didn't even notice she was staring right at her.

"Makoto... we need to go." Seoung said with a little urgency in her voice, while standing up from the generator.

Makoto was taken out from her extreme focus and looked up from the generator. She wiped some sweat off her face and set her eyes on Seoung's face. "But we're almost finished generator though!" Makoto continued to work on the generator, ignoring Seoung's concerns. In the corner of Seoung's only eye, she saw something zooming through the air. Focusing on it, her chest sank. It was a knife! And it was heading straight for Makoto!

"Makoto! Watch out!" Seoung exclaimed, rushing over to shove Makoto out of the way. Makoto looked up, taken by surprise due to the spiritualist's yell. But it was too late. The knife came into contact with Makoto's back, causing her to lose her balance and fall onto the concrete floor. Makoto made a loud scream, as a dark crimson seeped out of her bleeding wound onto her black leather jacket and onto the floor. Tears flew out of the Makoto's red eyes. Seoung looked down at the vagabond, frozen in shock. Her heart started to pound inside of her. Her eyes began to water. Her muscles tensed up. She needed to get out of here.

"Seoung... please..." She hiccuped while she crawled closer towards her. But the footsteps became closer, and her heart beated faster. Someone was coming-- the killer was coming.

Seoung looked around the room, looking for anywhere for her to hide. "I'm sorry Makoto... I just can't..." Seoung saw a rusty red locker in the corner of the room. She couldn't look at Makoto. She just couldn't. Making sure she didn't step in Makoto's blood, she covered a part of her face from looking at her bleeding friend and ran towards the locker. Grabbing the handle, she swung it open and threw herself in it before closing it as quietly as possible. It smelled like nasty toxic waste in the locker. But Seoung didn't smell it. The only she could smell was the blood. Of her best friend. The locker had three small windows that allowed Seoung to look outside. But, the only thing she had a clear view of was her best friend. Makoto was in a pool of her own blood, trying to stand up even with the blood-stained knife impaled in her back. Cold tears dropped out of Seoung's eyes watching Makoto suffer, and that she couldn't do anything to help her. Watching the masked man enter the room, Seoung's breath hitched and a lump formed in her throat as she tried to stay silent.

Seoung watched in despair and in fear as the masked man dressed in full black kneeled over and pulled the knife out of Makoto's back. Makoto screamed in agony, trying to crawl away from him, her face wet due to the tears and pain. The Slasher grabbed onto her legs, pulling the vagabond closer to him. Gripping the knife, he brought the knife down on Makoto, making a loud crash as blood splattered everywhere. Crimson painted onto his brown hair, his mask, his black clothes, and on Makoto herself. She kept on screaming, even through the pain and injuries. The killer stabbed Makoto again on the back, then again, and again. Stuck in the thrill of the kill and his own bloodlust, he repeatedly stabbed the girl until her final screams were drowned out with complete silence.

A loud bang rang across the whole station, marking Makoto's death. Seoung's heart skipped a beat, and it felt like time stopped for a few seconds. Her friend just died. Right in front of her. She knew she would see Makoto alive again in just a few hours back at camp, but it hurt every single time she died. Although, she has never seen Makoto getting ripped apart from her like this. She wanted to cry, but she knew she couldn't. Not until he leaves.

After what felt like hours of despair, he finally left her bloodied corpse alone. He got up from the ground, now covered in blood. Dark red dripped from his knife onto her corpse. His hair and mask was stained with blood. But even with the mask, Seoung still sensed the deranged look in his eyes underneath. The killer ran away from the scene, leaving through the other exit. Now, Seoung was all alone, with her dead friend on the floor. She waited until the room was completely silent, when she no longer heard any footsteps.

Seoung opened the locker door carefully, not letting a single creak escape. Stepping out the locker, she saw the entire scene without any obstructions. Another tear fell down her soiled face. Seeing Makoto like this broke her every single time. Covering her eyes, she ran out of the room through the door the maniacal killer came in, not even trying to make her footsteps silent. She dashed out the door into the hallway, not looking back. Not even bothering to repair the generator they were almost done with. Seoung heard the same whirs the generator made just a few minutes ago, but she blocked the noises as she ran up the stairs to the upper floor. There, she saw another person banging on another generator, trying to repair it. Seoung took a deep breath, still panting, and walked over to the generator to help, masking her true feelings. She just wanted for this game to end. To escape this hellhole once and for all.
