Chapter 1: The Thunderer
The sound of footsteps could be heard as one man stood on a bridge, his sword placed in the ground with both his hands on the hilt. The armored did nothing as the footsteps grew ever closer to him for he knew who the bearer of those steps were. Not even turning his head the man…no, the warrior kept his gaze forward on the stars that laid around him and the kingdom he swore to protect.
He is the gatekeeper, the one who sees all, and the first line of defense for his home. Standing on a rainbow bridge, this individual protected the large golden kingdom behind him from all threats. No one gets in or leaves without him knowing it. The man he speaks to knows that better than anyone.
“Trouble sleeping, my prince.” The warrior spoke with a deep tone filled with wisdom. The prince stood next to the watcher of the kingdom, turning his head and looking at the dark skinned man as he kept his gaze on the stars.
“You know I never sleep, ever observant Heimdall.” The prince laughed while Heimdall smiled.
“What do you see with all seeing eyes, your old friend.”
“I see everything, the stars, realms, the people of them, our enemies and the uncertainty in you my prince." The prince stayed silent knowing that Heimdall was correct with his words, there was doubt in him.
“I have felt…a disturbance. A shift in power. The lighting, the thunder, the storms, they are confused.” The prince tried to explain, ever since he’s got he has not been able to sleep or focus. He has theories on what it could be, but if it is what he believes then fixing his issue will be a lot more complicated.
“Yes, I have seen it for sometime now. A change in the guard, a power struggle has begun with the gods that sit high on the mountain. Even their secrets are not hidden from my eyes. At the center of it all is a child of lighting.” Heimdall did not seem to turn his head to see the fist of the prince tighten his hand.
“Is she in danger?” The prince asked with curiosity and concern. He tried to hide it, but he knew the gatekeeper would easily see through it. Heimdall however narrowed his eyes.
“It is difficult to say, but she stands at the center of a massive and powerful storm. A storm that was created by her father. An ancient and powerful enemy is walking the earth and I’m sure you’ve seen who it is.” The prince narrowed his eyes that there was not much to go on, but he had the feeling that the father at the center of all this was Zeus, meaning that one of his secrets had risen and now the woman he loved was in danger.
“I know who it is and every second he breathes more people die. I need to stop him.” The gatekeeper nodded his head, he saw it now. The city of London, beautiful now engulfed in flames as its people run for their lives. At the center of all the madness sits the architect of it. Waiting for his enemy to come to him.
The prince's decision was clear, he could not wait any longer. He needed to interfere, to stop that mad man…not the monster that walks. He has faced him before, he knows his strength, his power. He can fight him, but he knows that she will also. He does not know if she is strong enough.
With his mind made up the prince began to walk away from the gatekeeper of his home, but before he could even take two steps Heimdall reminded him of the treaty.
“You know the rules. Gods can’t interfere in the affairs of other pantheons. Mortals are one thing especially in our laws, but this issue between them must be resolved by them and them alone. Breaking it would have dire consequences.” The wise words echoed through his brain and for a moment the prince thought about his decision and the ramifications that decision would bring.
It would bring many of his own secrets to light and a reckon with the woman he loved. However even with that the prince steeled his resolve and moved forward with his decision. Already knowing his decision the gatekeeper closed his eyes only for a moment knowing that things were about to get much more entangled.
“Very well my prince, I will honor your decision. However you will have to get there yourself. The All-Father cannot know I helped you or I risk losing my position as gatekeeper.” The prince smiled at his old friend and nodded his head. He would not dare not endanger anyone else with his choice.
His family was complicated enough and them knowing about his entanglement with the daughters of Zeus bad enough. A reckoning will surely come to him when she finds out about his past relationships. But that bridge will be crossed later in the future. Now it was time for him to head to battle and a warrior cannot go into battle without a weapon.
“So be it. Come to me…Mjolnir!” The prince shouted reaching his hand and with a burst of wind a silver rectangle shaped hammer with a black hilt was speeding through the air. The prince caught it with his right hand and when the hammer reached his hand. The prince’s eyes lit up in a powerful blue color. Power coursed through him and the hammer, sparks of electricity danced around him.
With his weapon in hand all the prince needed was his trusted ally, his eyes in the sky. His raven. “Synin!” The prince called within moments a raven caw could be heard. The raven was black in color and had golden eyes, landing on its master shoulder it cawed for praise.
“Yes, old friend, it is time. Time to leave our home of Asgard.” He looked back at his home, the golden city that he has protected for centuries, but now another place he called home of his needs protection.
“It’s time for the God of Thunder to return to Midgard!" The thunder raised his hammer above his head as electricity began to dance around it.
“It’s time for Thor to return to battle!” Thor called a powerful lighting bolt that captured his entire body along with his raven.
Heimdall did not blink and watched the whole thing as a flash of light shined brightly on the bridge. The light was so bright that all Asgard in the dead of night looked up to see where it was coming.
Citizens of the kingdom stopped their party and drinking and looked up at the sky. The warriors who were familiar with lighting already knew who it belonged to. Those closest to the thunder already knew what he was about. One in particular did not look up from the story that he was reading, all he did was wear his knowing and coy smile.
Even the king himself who stood on a balcony overlooking his kingdom, two ravens perched on each of his shoulders. He too looked at the light knowing already that it was his son. The king said nothing nor did he do anything, all he did was close his only good eye and turn to walk away. His son has made his decision. A decision that he would have to live with it for the rest of his life.
When the light died Thor was no longer there on the bridge, gone he was. To earth his destination. There he was uncertain of the welcoming that he would receive, but he was sure of things. A battle he was prepared to fight.
London, England
A portal opened on the streets of London creating a loud boom sound, out came five individuals. Three of them being women, one being a man, and the fifth was an infant baby boy that was in his hands. Their names were Orion, New God of New Genesis and powerful warrior, Hera goddess, wife of Zeus, and former Queen of Olympus, Zola, a human that had a one night stand with Zeus and gave birth to his son. Her newly born son Zeke is the prize that everyone was searching for until she came into the protection of the third woman and leader of this group. Diana of Themyscira, crown princess of the Amazon, recently revealed daughter of Zeus, and the super hero Wonder Woman.
The portal closed behind them, they had just recently escaped New Genesis with the help of Orion. The leader of the planet who was the High Father and Orion father wanted Zeke dead for they feared what he might become.
Wonder Woman being Wonder Woman could not let that happen and convinced Orion to help them, she would not dare call Orion and herself friends, but they had earned a small familiarity to each other. He still needs plenty of work when it comes to how he treats women, especially the incessant title of “legs” that he gives her, but Diana will take all the help she can get.
“Something stinks, and I know it’s not me.” Orion commented as he held the child. Zola quickly came over to him and snatched her baby out of his hands.
“Thank you Orion, I know this was hard, but I do appreciate your help.” Diana thanked and one would accept your welcome in return, but not from Orion.
“To be honest, I was not listening to you at all. I was formulating a plan for us to escape.” Diana inwardly sighed, this all that she got and beggars could not be choosers.
“We need to find Lennox.” Diana stated Lennox was another member of their team and Diana's half brother. Lennox was a child of Zeus and Diana ally through all of this mess. This mess being the return of the First Born. The First Born was the first born son of Zeus and Hera. A child deemed so powerful that Zeus ordered his son to be killed, but Hera begged the witch that oversaw her child’s birth to spare him. The witch did and allowed nature to run its course, nature and hyenas took the boy in and raised him.
As the First Born grew so did his power reaching powerful heights to the point that he challenged his father and the gods above. Zeus defeated his son and imprisoned him deep within the earth where the First Born would have to climb out and that he did for seven thousand years. Once free he plans to continue where he left off and that to rule Olympus and raze the world.
The moment Zeus disappeared Diana life and everything she knew has been turned upside down. She found out that she was the daughter of the king of the gods, she has half sisters and brothers throughout the world thanks to her father, oh and the worst of all as punishment for sleeping with her husband and giving birth to her, Hera, the woman she has been protecting since her half brother Apollo took the throne of Olympus turned her mother into a clay statue and her fellow amazons into snacks. So yeah, upside down.
Now she faces arguably her greatest threat, the First Born. Before Orion got them to New Genesis, she and her group of gods and misfits were face to face with First Born. She fought him with Lennox and they lost, forced to retreat. Through the boom tube portal that Orion opened, but First Born followed them. He was relentless.
Lennox sacrificed himself to give time to escape, but even after a short battle with her older brother Diana knows that Lennox will stand no chance. She’s not even sure if she stands a chance against him. First Born beat two demi-gods and one of them was the champion of the Amazons.
“If this is the right city then we have a problem…” The group all turned their heads and now looked at the situation. Hera’s words rang true. “The city is burning.” She finished and they all silently agreed with her. London was burning, figuratively and literally. Buildings were destroyed, the sky was dark, smoke was in the air, and people were running terrified. Shouts of monsters could be heard as they all ran in different directions.
“Hey, you see a big guy with black armor around here?” Orion asked the first person he saw. He wanted the cathedral that was in front of the group. Diana led the way first followed by Orion as Hera and Zoe stayed close to him.
Once they reached the church Diana stepped inside the door and was blown off and sitting in a chair like it was thorn was the First Born himself. The chair was too small for his hulkish like body as he leaned back on it.
“They say this was a place for kings to be crowned.” First Born spoke as he held a crown in his hand. “How puny.” He crushed it with a simple squeeze. “Puny kings, puny kingdom, puny chair meant for puny humans. Humans whose blood now stains your soles.” Diana glared daggers into half brother.
“I will not allow this needless destruction to go unpunished. I will avenge every life you have taken.” First Born just hummed and tossed something to the ground, an object that landed near her feet.
“You can start with that one.” Diana looked down, widening her eyes she saw that it was the head of Lennox, her brother that stayed behind to fight him. He was gone, his face mangled and mashed. It was barely held together even with the help of his stone powers.
Diana knelt to the ground, grabbing Lennox's head in her head. “Lennox…forgive me” She whispered however First Born did not care for action.
“Words are all you have Wonder Woman…while I have family.” The group of heroes soon heard growls come from the darkness. Looking around they saw an army of hyenas wearing battle armor, carrying weapons, and standing on their legs. The First Born army has returned to him. Diana knowing what the situation was and knowing that she had Zola and Zeke with her.
“Orion, get Zola and Zeke–”
“NO!” Zola screamed, she knew what Diana was going to say and she was not going to leave her again.
“We’re family and we’re not going to let you fight all of them by yourself.”
“I agree with her.” A drunken and slurred voice was heard making all eyes turn to the direction where it came from. There everyone saw someone they didn't expect, an old man with a long grey beard and bloody feet. His eyes were sunken to the point it looked like he didn’t have any. The gods and humans recognized this man as Ares the God of War and Diana mentor from her youth.
“I’m not too late am I.” Ares shattered the bottle in his hand to create a weapon for the coming battle.
“Then let there be war.” Diana boldly said as she and her allies were ready for battle. All of them circled together to fight the First Born and his army.
However just as the battle was about to begin the child Zeke cried for the first time since entering the church. One would think it was because of the situation they were all in, but it was because of the thunder that was being heard.
Powerful thunder crashed against the sky followed by even more powerful bolts lighting. The audience in the church looked up as the lighting nearly struck the building they were in. First Born also turned his head to the sky, this lighting, it felt familiar to him.
“Is the boy doing this?” Orion asked Zola, but she wasn’t sure. She wasn’t sure of anything when it came to her son.
“Yes, maybe, I don’t know!” Whatever was happening it seemed even First Born was nervous about it. The lighting struck again this time hitting one of the soldiers of the First Born bringing him to the ground.
Diana even saw the look on the First Born whatever that was happening had even made him nervous. “No,” She heard him whisper, she looked back at Zeke wondering if it’s the power her father is activating.
“It’s not the boy.” Ares told and he was certain of it based on his tone. Zeke cries grew louder and the soldiers stopped waiting and made a lunge at the Zola and the child. The soldier didn’t even get far not because of the gods protecting the human woman, but because a powerful object came down from the sky and crashed into the soldier's back.
The object crushed the soldier’s spine and created a small crater. Everyone looked at the object in question to see what could have done the deed and they saw a hammer that oozed power. Diana, Orion, and Zola were unsure what this hammer was, but the older gods there knew exactly what it was.
“Impossible!” All of them said and unfortunately for First Born the impossible was indeed very possible when it came to this man.
“It’s a shame what has happened to Westminster Abby.” Diana looked up as did everyone to see being with long flowing blonde hair, bright blue eyes, wearing blue pants, black boots, and a blue chest plate armor that showcased his massive arms. The plate had six circles on it and on his hands were black fingerless gloves that stretched forearm protectors.
The stranger came down to the ground with his hand stretched out to the direction of where the hammer was. As if the hammer had ears, the weapon answered the call and went back to the hand of the stranger.
Diana looked now stood behind him as he faced the First Born who she could clearly see was fuming at the individual he was looking at. His fist were tightening, his teeth were grinding against one another, this was the first that she has seen him so unbalanced.
“Who are you?” Diana answered but before the man answered The First born did for him just in a big angry roar sort of fashion.
“THOR!” Diana widens her eyes at the revelation. The man standing before her was none other than Thor the God of Thunder of the Norse Pantheon. She wouldn’t have believed it if it wasn't for the hammer in his hands and the reactions of the older gods. It was truly him, she’s only heard stories of him but here he was to aid them. The Might Thor was here and he was ready for battle.
