Chapter Text
The classroom was a disaster, everybody was talking over each other, yelling like some spoiled little kids which annoyed the brown-haired boy who was sitting quietly on his chair in an awkward, nerdy kind of way. Not that he was one, more like a loner with only one friend.
The year just started and he already wanted it to be over, not because he had to study, but it was so much easier to avoid people on summer break. He truly craved the silence his room provided even if his father always tried to bother him saying 'You should at least hang out with that friend of yours' or 'What's going to happen to you when you have to start working?'
'Thanks dad, like I wasn't spiraling enough as it is,' he thought.
It wasn't his fault he hated- it disgusted him if someone touched him! He tried going to a psychologist, turns out if you don't know what caused you to be a freak of a nature your down right helpless!
The little pink pills he was ordered to take didn't do jack shit, it was supposed to get his mood up however it went lower. Being a moody, hormonal teenager with mental problems wasn't a delightful combination.
He wished he was normal, like his best and only friend, the famous 'it' boy of the school.
Everybody knew the blonde, when they started their first year at the school, he was immediately talking to everyone, even seniors and well, who were they to say no to him when his whole body was covered with designer clothes.
After that he threw a party, ever since then students always talked about him.. Unfortunately, that fame also shined a spotlight at him as he was always the one the blonde talked to most, so the boys wanted to befriend him, the girls wanted to date him.
It was a disaster when Im Jinah touched his shoulder.. his reaction wasn't the best. His face was pure disgust, he jerked away like the girl had rabies or something.
Jinah did not appreciate that, she was hysterically screaming, throwing a whole ass tantrum which ended with both of them being in the principal's office with their parents.
His mom was the one who explained how he had (with fancy words) 'haphephobia', meaning he was scared of physical touches. In a way he was grateful for the principal because he informed everyone of his problem- 'Do not touch Byun Baekhyun.' (That should be sign...)
In other way, while his friend was declared as the 'Golden Boy', he on the other hand became a 'Freak.'
His fellow students treated him like a nutjob, making fun, sometimes acting out the incident between him and Jinah. Though they obeyed and didn't touch him, they weren't afraid yell how he should be in a white padded room.
Somewhere he found it funny, ridiculous. He knew he was an easy target for bullying, they were smart about it too cause as soon as his best friend showed up, they went quiet.
The only reaction they got out of him though was eyerolls and furrowed eyebrows. If bullying him made them feel better about their own pathetic lives they're welcome to do it, at least he wasn't the one who went to sleep crying every night.
Baekhyun lifted his head when he heard the 'Hi's' going all around the classroom.
Then there he was.. Kim Kibum, draped in another, probably new designer outfit, giving high-fives to anyone who was close enough, strutting between the desk like he owned the damn school.
At this point it wouldn't be surprised if he did, they were only seventeen but the boy already had twenty or so supercars and had a palace for a house.. talk about being spoiled.
"Fashionably late as always I see," Baek blurted out when the blonde reached their desk. "The head teacher was already here, he gave us the time-table so you can copy mine."
"Good morning too you too Kyoong.. Also, you do know we get our schedule online as well, right? You're such a caveman," he grimaced, putting down his bag, brushing his fingers through his blonde locks. "I needed to film a quick tutorial for my page and do you think I would come in early just to hear the principal rehearsed boring opening speech?" he sat down, making sure he was at the very edge of the desk.
Baekhyun didn't argue with that statement, he also missed the opening, he didn't care to hear the same thing every year either.
"Buut~ I did hear there is going to be a new English teach," he pulled out a pocket mirror out of his bag.
"How did you-? Oh, why am I asking, you're literally in every group chat the students created," Baekhyun rolled his eyes.
"Even if I wasn't, it was pretty obvious. Miss 'I am way to sensitive to teach' was going to quit after she ran out crying before school ended."
"Because you always corrected her," he mumbled
"Not my fault she was worthless," the blonde shrugged his shoulders.
"You're only saying that cause you're good at English. I liked her, she was a good teacher."
"Which is why you suck and can't speak the language at all," Kibum smiled in mocking manor.
"Bitch.." he snarled.
"Freak," the blonde retorted.
"Yah..."
"Sorry.. too far," he pouted, they stared at each other for a few seconds but couldn't hold their laughter. "Gosh, I've missed you honey. You ghosted me all summer!" he lifted his hand like he was about to push Baek playfully, but quickly realized himself and simply just brushed his fingers through his hair again. Smooth move..
"You were partying every day, what was I supposed to do?"
"Oh.. don't even start with me, that was such a mistake. If I drink more alcohol, I'm not human. So many lost memories.."
"Bet you're throwing another party this weekend."
"... Maybe."
"Aish, I knew it," he chuckled.
"It's tradition!" he gasped, clearly offended. "You should come."
"So I can stay in one of the many spare bedrooms you have and drink alone while you're sucking off some random guy in your biggest bathroom? No thank you."
"That happened once!" Kibum hissed.
"Are you talking about the blowjob or me going to your party one time?" he lifted one of his eyebrows questioningly.
"Both?"
"Are you asking?"
"No?"
"Okay.." Baekhyun laughed again. "Did you know people think we had a fight before summer break started? They were whispering about it before you showed up," he looked at his classmates, they were all ogling them like some predators at their pray though quickly turned their head away when they saw Baek peeping.
"Let me guess.. Jinah spread the rumors."
"Ding-ding-ding, you're correct." Baekyun leaned on the table, resting his head on his arm.
"Tsk, that whore. Still salty about the fact I threw her out of my house after she kissed me."
"Ew.. what?"
"A lot of shit happened.."
"Sorry I've missed it," he sighed.
"Anywaays. She is angry and the only thing she could do to me is to break us apart. Like that's going to happen."
"I don't know how some fake ass rumors are supposed to ruin our friendship.."
"Wait till' she starts talking about us dating and being gay."
"Hm?" he lifted his head. "Are we not dating and gay?"
"Fuck, you're right.." he acted shocked. "All the rumors are true I guess."
"That's not.. how the saying goes Bams.. it's all the legends are true."
"Whatever. Same fucking thing, and don't call me Bams, only my father can."
"But I am your father."
"You're so annoying, oh my god.." Kibum started laughing like he just said the funniest thing which got everyones attention right back on them.
Sadly, their usual bickering had to come to an end when the principal walked in, suddenly every student was in their seats, the commotion vanished, they went into acting mode as if they were little angels that can't do no harm.
Gross.
"I'm just going to say good morning to everyone again" he started. "It is so good to see all of your faces after such a long summer."
"Not long enough," Kibum whispered so lowly Baekhyun was the only one who heard it and he agreed with his best friend with a nod.
"Given it's your first day at school I don't want to keep any of you here for long, but I do want to avoid any confusion to those who weren't here for the opening, right Kim?" he looked at Kibum with a serious look who just smiled and cocked his head to the side. "So as some of you already know, sadly Mrs. Lee left so there is going to be a new English teacher," he slid his glasses up on his nose while looking at the door. "You can come in Chanyeol."
That was the last thing Baekhyun heard from the principal as his voice kind of got distorted when he laid his eyes upon the teacher.
At first, he thought 'damn he looks young,' the second was 'he is tall as hell,' after that his mind almost went down the gutter, but the blonde next to him murmured something which he agreed with in his mind again.
"Shit, he's hot."
"Kibum!" he pressed his teeth together as he hissed quietly.
"What? I know you don't like physical touches but come on, would you say no to him?"
"You're disgusting.."
"I know," he mouthed.
"..-right, Kim Kibum?"
Both boys were stunned for a moment at hearing the principals voice again.
"Uh, what?"
"I said, be nice. That means you too," he pointed at the blonde, still looking very serious. It was obvious he knew it was Kibum's fault Mrs. Lee literally ran from this job.
"Oh, yes.. I will be very nice" he smiled while nodding.
Yeah, that 'I will be nice' sounded like 'I'll eat him up for breakfast' and not in a sexual way.. well maybe in that way too.
The principal shook his head a little but had the strength to put on a fake smile, he couldn't really do anything about the blonde's behavior, Kibum's parents gave tons of money to the school, kicking him out would be a dumb decision.. even if he tended to be a bit insolent.
The principal patted the teacher on his back and said goodbyes for the day.
Baekhyun followed the tall man with his eyes, trying to observe every detail of him, like he's not going to see him more.
Now he kind of wished he was paying attention, he couldn't even register the teachers voice. The only thing he was sure of.. now he's not that said that Mrs. Lee decided to resign.
"I've never seen you like this Kyoong." Kibum pulled him out of his daydreaming.
"Like what?" he stood up from the chair, not moving an inch though, he is always the last person who leaves the school so he doesn't need to go through the crowd.
"Dazed.. I mean I don't blame you, there was an audible gasp from everyone when he stepped in."
"Well yeah, he seems pretty young to be a teacher."
"You know that's not the reason," he chuckled, throwing his bag over his shoulder but also didn't move. "Guess who is going to be a teacher's pet?" he crossed his arms, watching their classmates leave the room.
"You are so fricking gross," Baek grimaced.
"I'm kidding... sort of," he trailed off. "But can you just imagine-,"
"Rather not.." he cut of Kibum's speech.
"Cockblocker..." the blonde pouted. "Come on, let's go to our favorite place, I've got so many things to tell you."
"Can't wait," he walked after his friend, keeping a safe distance.
Baekhyun would never admit it to anyone, but there was something about the English teacher that felt off when he looked at him.
Sure, as Kibum worded it he was... "hot" or whatever, but he noticed a different thing about him.
Not like it's any of his business, he shouldn't even think about him at all. The only thing that truly mattered if he was good at teaching, nothing else.
