Background story:
In the countryside of Marley sits a pristine mansion with a beautifully kept courtyard owned by the Althans family. Being a powerful, high-ranking politician with a say in all, Arnfried, the head of the family, still chose to keep his family well shielded in the outskirts of Marley to keep them all "safe from the wrath of the conspiring devils". What's his secret weapon? He is a titan shifter in possession of the Assassin titan, a powerful killing machine only to be used in emergencies. After his wife birthed his precious daughter y/n, he swore to never let her step foot in the real world and keep her in an ideal bubble to protect her. His idea expires after Elijah interferes, delivering devastating news to the family.

Silence. The room was quiet, deathly quiet, the only noise being the chirping birds sat on the tree next to his office, in his hand, a tear-stained letter from his son, Elijah. His heart felt heavy.
-
Dear Father,
I tried to find the strength in myself to deliver this news personally, but I fear I'm a coward. It's laughable, right? What's wrong with me? not even being able to face my own father. These days I have been coughing up blood, and after a check-up at the doctor, I now know why. I am very ill Father, the doctor presumes that I have three years to go. I have failed you and failed my family. I beg of you to keep this just between us two, it will break Mother's heart, let alone y/n's. I promise to visit more just keep this a secret, just this once.
Your son Elijah

Why now? Everything was going to plan. Elijah would inherit my titan, and the family's legacy would go on. That was the plan, right? No. Nothing ever goes as planned. Nothing ever goes to fucking plan.
Shatter, the now shattered whisky glass, glistens in the sunlight peeping through the drapes.
Fuck, what do I do now? Who will inherit the titan? Y/n? No, this wasn't how it was meant to be. He's only fithteen he can't die now.
A knock at the door disturbs his thoughts.
"Dearest, Is everything okay?" Isabella questions opening the door to his office.
He puts the best smile on his face as he can and quickly wipes away his tears. "Of course, darling, I'm fine it's just all this paperwork it's really getting to my head."
Isabelle glances at the piles of paperwork covering his desk. "Well, why don't you take a small break then to clear your mind? I bet y/n would be happy to spend some time with you" she chuckles.
"About y/n, dear, I've changed my mind about inheriting my titan to Elijah. I want y/n to be my next successor." He chimes.
Isabelle gave him a concerned look. "But I thought you wanted her to stay away from that place? What changed your mind? Did something happen?"
"No, nothing happened. I just think keeping her locked up here would make her depressed. She's a very smart girl, and I think she would be perfect for the job." He said while pulling out a chair for his wife to sit on.
"Elijah loves being a supervisor at the warrior unit, I don't want to take that away from him. I feel like I'm forcing him to inherit my titan."
Isabelle sits down. "I understand how you feel, dearest. I picked up on Elijah's devotion to the unit as well, let's have a talk with y/n and see what she says." She smiled, holding her stomach. "There's no need to rush, we still have another option. Baby Althans is on its way." He smiles at his wife's words and watches her leave his office.
He has no time, with one year left of his titan shifter life, the clock is ticking.
