Oops, We're Dating?!

Summary:

Megan and Daniela don't even realize they're dating until a fan event

Work Text:

Megan had always admired Daniela. Her dancing, her energy, her personality, her effortless confidence. There was something magnetic about the way Daniela moved through life—like she belonged in every room she entered, as if the world had been waiting for her. She never shrank or hesitated. Megan, on the other hand, was careful, cautious, always weighing her options before taking a step. But Daniela? She was fearless. And at first, Megan had admired that from a distance.

But admiration has a way of morphing into something deeper, something that quietly settles in your chest and refuses to leave. Megan tried to ignore it—the way her heart fluttered when Daniela laughed, the way her stomach would flip when their hands brushed, the way she caught herself staring a little too long. She could no longer deny it.

Megan was in love with Daniela. She knew that now.

But she would never admit it.

It wasn’t the feelings that scared her. No, she was certain of them—of the way her heart ached when Daniela smiled, of the quiet joy in simply being near her. What scared Megan was what might happen if she spoke those feelings aloud. The change.

Megan didn’t handle change well. She never had. She liked the way things were now—the hours spent together after practice, lying side by side on Daniela’s bed, talking about everything and nothing; the way Daniela would pull her onto the dance floor at parties, even when Megan protested; the way it was easy between them, like they didn’t need to say anything to understand one another.

If she confessed, would that change? Would Daniela pull away, laugh it off, or—worst of all—stop looking at her the same way?

Megan couldn’t bear the thought of losing what they had. So, she kept her silence, swallowing her feelings, convincing herself that what they shared was enough. Even if it meant silently aching in a way no one else could see.

Rehearsals had been dragging on for hours, and the group was in the middle of running their choreography for what felt like the millionth time. Megan was exhausted, sore, and definitely ready to be done—but somehow, watching Daniela dance made it all feel a little less tiring.

Daniela was completely in her element—fluid movements, sharp footwork, her hair slightly messy from practice but in a way that somehow made her look even cooler. Megan looked away, but then—of course—she caught herself doing it again.

Staring.

It wasn’t intentional. Her eyes just… gravitated toward Daniela. The way she moved. The way she smiled after nailing a move. The way she absentmindedly chewed on her bottom lip when she was concentrating.

And then, as if the universe had been waiting for the perfect moment—

“Megan, you’re staring.”

Megan snapped out of it, her entire body going rigid.

Lara stood beside her, arms crossed, a knowing smirk playing at the corners of her mouth.

Megan immediately felt heat flood her face. “I was not,” she said, way too quickly, her voice coming out higher than usual.

Lara raised an eyebrow, clearly entertained. “Mhm. Right.”

Megan crossed her arms defensively. “I was just—just thinking!”

“Uh-huh,” Lara hummed, dragging out the sound. “Thinking about what, exactly?”

Megan opened her mouth. Then closed it. Because, frankly, there was no explanation that didn’t make her sound ridiculous.

Before she could even attempt to get herself out of the hole, Daniela jogged over, wiping sweat from her forehead. “What are you guys talking about?” she asked, oblivious to the storm brewing beside her.

Megan’s soul might’ve actually left her body.

Lara’s smirk widened to a full grin. “Oh, nothing,” she said sweetly. “Megan was just admiring you.”

Megan choked. “LARA.”

Daniela blinked, clearly confused. “Admiring me?”

Megan’s brain immediately short-circuited. “I—I—it’s—not—”

Lara tilted her head innocently, the devilish glint in her eyes making Megan’s heart race. “Oh, you know. She was just staring at you with her ‘Megan in Love’ face.”

Megan wanted to die on the spot.

Daniela, the most oblivious person on the planet, just laughed. “Oh, stop teasing her, Lara.” She turned to Megan with a cheeky grin. “But, hey, if you were staring, I totally get it. I look pretty good today.” She winked.

Megan made an actual dying noise and immediately turned away, covering her face with her hands. “I hate you.”

Lara patted her back, unbothered. “Mhm. Sure you do.”

And Megan?

She was never going to live this down.

Daniela had always admired Megan. Her quirkiness, her stage presence, the way she could walk into a room full of strangers and somehow leave with a dozen new friends. Megan had this light to her—something warm and magnetic, something that made people want to stay. Daniela wasn’t immune to it.

At first, it had just been admiration. She told herself that over and over. Admiration. Nothing more. But admiration didn’t make her chest tighten when Megan laughed a little too loudly at one of her own jokes. Admiration didn’t make Daniela hyper-aware of the way Megan’s fingers brushed her arm absentmindedly. Admiration didn’t make her wish, in the quietest corners of her heart, that Megan would look at her the way she looked at the people she crushed on.

Somewhere along the way, admiration had morphed into something more. Something too big to contain. Something beyond her control.

Daniela had fallen in love with Megan.

And yet, she would never admit it.

Not because she was afraid of her feelings—she had long since made peace with them. She knew what she wanted. She wanted Megan. But wanting something didn’t make it safe. Megan, for all her brightness, had a habit of drifting. Floating from one thing to the next, moving through life like a breeze that never lingered too long in one place.

What if Daniela confessed and Megan left? What if she backed away, suddenly unsure, suddenly uncomfortable? What if she disappeared from Daniela’s life entirely? That was something Daniela would never be able to recover from.

So she stayed silent. She let herself get lost in moments that weren’t meant to last. She let herself believe that maybe, just maybe, Megan would never leave if Daniela never gave her a reason to.

Even if it meant longing for something she was too afraid to reach for.

As the morning light filters in, Lara watches with quiet amusement as Daniela casually hands Megan a cup of coffee—no question, no hesitation. It's perfect: just the right amount of sugar and milk, exactly how Megan likes it.

Megan accepts it without looking up from her phone, humming contentedly as she sips. "Mmm. Thanks, babe."

Daniela, still absorbed in her screen, barely glances up. "Yeah, yeah."

Lara blinks, her eyebrows shooting up. "Uh, did you just call her 'babe'?"

Megan looks up from her phone, finally registering the conversation. "Huh?"

Daniela frowns, still not fully processing. "What?"

"You just called Daniela ‘babe.’"

Megan scoffs and shrugs, unbothered. "No, I didn’t."

Daniela shakes her head, more thoughtful now. "Yeah, she definitely didn’t—" She pauses, replaying the moment in her mind. Her eyes widen. "Oh. She did."

Lara crosses her arms, her grin widening. "And you didn’t even notice. This is just normal for you two, huh?"

Megan and Daniela exchange a glance, then shake their heads in unison.

"Nah."

"That's just how we talk," Daniela adds, brushing it off.

Lara sighs dramatically, eyes sparkling with mischief. "You two are completely oblivious."

Megan and Daniela look at her, confused by her comment, but don’t say anything else.

Later, when Megan and Daniela head upstairs to get ready, Lara seizes the opportunity to discuss them with the others.

"Do they even realize they're dating?" she asks the group, lowering her voice conspiratorially.

"I genuinely think they have no idea," Manon says, laughing.

"Wait, they're not dating?" Yoonchae asks, shocked. "I thought they just didn’t want to tell us yet."

"Yeah, no. Not officially dating," Lara explains, leaning back with a knowing smile. "But they might as well be. It’s like they're already a couple, just without the label."

"They definitely need a push, but I think we should let them figure it out themselves," Sophia says with a sly grin. "Besides, they're pretty entertaining to watch."

"Definitely are," Manon agrees, grinning.

Lara smirks. "Fine. But if I see a chance to nudge them closer together, I’m taking it."

Sophia just shrugs, unbothered. "Sure, whatever."

The group had just finished performing, and as usual, there was some downtime before their next round of press.

Daniela had found a quiet corner of the room, but her eyes weren’t on her phone like they usually were. No, they were fixed on Megan.

Megan was, as always, effortlessly charming everyone around her. She was laughing at something someone said, her whole face lighting up, and she had this way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room.

But there was someone she was talking to that Daniela didn’t recognize—a guy. Tall, dark-haired, with a smile that didn’t seem to leave his face as he talked to Megan.

Daniela tried to focus on something else, but her eyes kept drifting back to them. To Megan’s laugh. To the way the guy was standing a little too close. The way he was clearly looking at her like she was the most interesting person in the world. And, well, she was. But still.

Then Megan threw her head back and laughed again, and something in Daniela’s chest twisted.

She knew exactly why it bothered her. It was because it had been a while since she’d seen Megan this animated around someone she didn’t already know. It was the way Megan looked so... comfortable.

Her gaze hardened.

"Daniela, stop glaring."

Daniela blinked, snapping out of her thoughts, and looked up to see Manon standing beside her with a smirk.

"You're doing it again," Manon said, shaking her head. "Glaring at the poor guy like he’s about to steal your lunch or something."

"I’m not glaring," Daniela said automatically, though she could feel her jaw tightening. She straightened up and looked away.

Manon raised an eyebrow. "Sure you’re not." She glanced over at Megan, who was still talking animatedly to the guy. Then back to Daniela, whose eyes had immediately followed Megan again. "Just ask her out."

Daniela took a quick glance at Manon, but her gaze immediately snapped back to Megan, only to find that Megan was now staring at her.

Megan gave her a knowing smile, the kind that said she’d been watching Daniela for a while and knew exactly what was happening.

Daniela felt heat crawl up her neck. "Shut up," she muttered, crossing her arms.

Manon chuckled and patted her shoulder. "Good luck." Then she winked and walked off.

Daniela stood frozen, her eyes locked on Megan, her heart racing just a little.

Megan waved goodbye to the guy and started walking toward her, still smiling wide.

"Hey," Megan said brightly, leaning over the table where Daniela was sitting. "You look like you’ve been plotting world domination over there."

Daniela opened her mouth to speak, but it came out as more of a strangled noise.

Megan raised an eyebrow, laughing. "What’s up with you?"

Daniela felt her face burn. "I wasn’t staring at you or anything."

Megan chuckled, a playful glint in her eye. "No, of course not. Totally not glaring at that poor guy who was talking to me."

Daniela’s eyes widened. "I wasn’t—"

Megan winked. "Sure, sure. Whatever you say, Dani."

And suddenly, Daniela realized: she had probably been glaring.

And, even worse—she might have been a tiny bit jealous.

Megan strolls back into the dressing room, arms crossed and pouting like a petulant child.

Daniela barely glances up from her phone. "What's wrong?"

Megan huffs dramatically. "I can't find my hoodie."

Sophia, trying to help, asks. "What does it look like?"

"The camo one. You know, the one that looks like something a hunter would wear." Megan explains, clearly annoyed.

Daniela pauses mid-scroll, her eyes flickering down to Megan's outfit, then back up with a slow realization. "You mean... the one you're wearing right now?"

Megan glances down at herself, blinking. The oversized hoodie is unmistakably Daniela's—there’s no mistaking the logo or the fit.

"Oh," Megan says, eyes widening. "Yeah, I didn’t even realize I was wearing it."

Daniela’s jaw drops. "Megan. That’s mine. It’s literally my favorite hoodie—the one I couldn’t find this morning."

Megan tilts her head, unfazed. "Oh. Well, it smelled like mine, so I just put it on."

Daniela squints, her face a mix of confusion and disbelief. "You mean it smelled like me."

Megan shrugs nonchalantly, as if it’s no big deal. "Yeah, same thing."

Daniela stares at her, speechless. The rest of the group in the background completely loses it, laughing uncontrollably.

Backstage, Megan and Daniela are blissfully unaware that their obliviousness is about to be exposed to the world.

Daniela rests her chin on Megan’s shoulder, both of them completely absorbed as they scroll through TikTok together.

Megan, in her usual relaxed state, absentmindedly plays with Daniela’s fingers, her thumb tracing gentle circles across her knuckles. It’s the sort of casual, intimate gesture that has become second nature between them.

The staff member’s voice cuts through the moment. "You’re on in five."

Without a second thought, Daniela grabs Megan’s hand, tugging her up and pulling her along. It’s automatic—just like everything else between them.

Lara leans toward the rest of the group, eyes twinkling with mischief. "Oh, this is gonna be so good."

The cameras flicker on, and Megan and Daniela sit next to each other, still completely unaware of the impending chaos. The bright lights shine down on them, and the clock is ticking.

They’re minutes away from accidentally confessing their entire relationship to the world.

And they have no idea.

Then, the livestream happens. The chaos ensues. The event that changed everything.

It happens during a live-streamed fan event. The group is relaxed, answering questions and playing games, completely unaware that they're moments away from one of the most iconic moments in their history.

There are normal questions about how they got here, what their friendship is like, if they argue a lot, and then the topic of relationships comes up. One of their fans asks, "Who do you think would be the first to get into a relationship?"

The other members start joking around, teasing each other, throwing out random names.

Then, Lara suddenly smirks, seeing her opportunity. "Well, technically, Megan and Daniela are already in a relationship."

The whole room erupts in gasps while the girls burst into laughter—except Megan and Daniela.

Who are just... staring.

Confused.

Baffled.

Megan furrows her brow. "What are you talking about? We're not in a relationship."

Daniela snorts, shaking her head. "Yeah, we would definitely know if we were dating."

Lara raises an eyebrow. "Would you?" And the crowd erupts in laughter.

Manon jumps in, barely containing her giggles. "Guys. You literally act more like a couple than actual couples."

Daniela scoffs. "No, we don't!"

Megan crosses her arms. "Yeah! Just because we're close doesn't mean we're dating."

Lara smirks. "Okay, let’s review the evidence. One—who do you always sit next to, cuddle with, hold hands with in literally every video?"

Megan and Daniela glance at each other, then back at the others. "...Each other?"

"Two," Manon continues, "who makes Megan coffee every morning exactly the way she likes it, without fail?"

Daniela shrugs. "I just know how she likes it. It's not a big deal."

"Three—who gets jealous when someone flirts with the other?" Sophia jumps in.

Megan and Daniela both open their mouths to deny it—then suddenly pause. Their own memories flash through their minds.

Oh.

Oh no.

"Four," Lara leans in, grinning, "which one of you told the other last week, and I quote, 'You don’t need to date anyone else because you already have me'?"

Silence.

Megan and Daniela turn to stare at each other, realization dawning at the exact same time.

Megan’s eyes widen. "Oh my God."

Daniela’s jaw drops. "We—" She blinks. "We’re actually dating."

Lara cackles. "YOU THINK?!"

The crowd explodes even more, the chat going absolutely wild. The other members are dying with laughter. Megan buries her face in her hands while Daniela sits there, mouth still slightly open, completely stunned.

Megan groans. "I can’t believe I was worried about confessing. We’ve literally been dating this whole time."

Daniela leans back, running a hand through her hair. "So we basically skipped the whole 'asking each other out' part? And just... were together?"

Lara grins. "Yep. And the best part? You guys are the only ones who didn’t know."

"I thought you guys were official and just weren’t telling us." Yoonchae adds with a shrug.

Cue absolute chaos as Megan and Daniela finally accept their fate, while the internet goes feral over the fact that Meizini accidentally discovered they were already dating—on a livestream.

After the incident, Megan and Daniela barely make it back to the dressing room before their phones start blowing up.

Their notifications are a war zone. The group chat is on fire, their mentions are flooded, and their social media feeds are nothing but Meizini memes.

Daniela groans, flopping onto the couch. "I don’t even want to look."

Megan, sitting next to her, is already scrolling through Twitter. "Oh my god," she mutters, covering her mouth. "Dani, we’re trending."

Daniela cracks one eye open. "Wait. Just trending, or number one trending?"

Megan turns her phone toward her.

#MEIZINI_REAL is at the top. #Theydidntevenknow is right below it.

Daniela sits up immediately. "Oh, we’re SCREWED."

Lara and Manon walk in, still laughing. Lara holds up her phone. "Oh, you guys HAVE to see this one." She reads out loud, barely containing herself:

"Meizini didn’t come out, they were forcibly evicted from the closet by their own members."

Daniela groans. "I hate all of you."

Manon waves her phone. "No, no, THIS one is the best: ‘Megan and Daniela realizing they’re in a relationship LIVE ON CAMERA is the funniest slow-burn romance arc I’ve ever seen.’"

Megan buries her face in her hands. "This is so embarrassing."

Lara smirks. "Oh, love, it gets worse. Someone made an edit of you guys with romantic movie music." She hits play on a fan edit—slow-motion clips of Megan and Daniela laughing together, hugging, staring at each other with way too much fondness. The caption?

"THEY WERE SOULMATES BUT THEY DIDN’T EVEN KNOW 😭💖."

Daniela yelps. "TURN IT OFF. TURN IT OFF RIGHT NOW."

Megan, despite her embarrassment, watches the edit with a frown. "Wait… do we really look at each other like that?"

Lara and Manon exchange a look. "YES."

Finally, Megan turns to Daniela, narrowing her eyes. "Dani, you literally twirl my hair when you’re tired."

Daniela sputters. "And YOU hold my hand when you’re nervous!"

Lara throws her hands in the air. "BECAUSE YOU’RE DATING!"

The room falls silent.

Megan and Daniela stare at each other.

Daniela finally exhales. "...Okay. Fine. We’re dating."

Megan nods, like she’s still processing. "Yeah. Yeah, I guess we are."

A beat.

Daniela blinks. "Wait. Should we, like… go on an actual date?"

Megan shrugs. "I mean… yeah? But, like, nothing really changes, right?"

Daniela grins. "Nah. We’ve been dating this whole time, apparently."

Lara groans. "Oh my god, I can’t believe you two just accidentally got together."

Daniela leans back, arms crossed. "Honestly? Neither can I."

And just like that, Meizini becomes official—not by confession, not by planning, but by sheer force of public realization.

The internet loses its mind.

And Megan and Daniela?

Well, they’ve got a lot of fan edits to catch up on.
