Chapter Text
Izuku sighed as he landed on his feet, hopping off the carriage. The weather was cold as Izuku warmed his hands the best he could with his breath. He looked up at the large estate in front of him and sighed. It took two months to get there and by then, Izuku already knew his family would be bringing up a storm about the family honor. He didn’t care much, he just wanted to be away and this place was his only option.
Izuku took the steps toward the estate and breathed in the crisp, cold air. He would be spending the remainder of his life here.
--
“Sir, you have a guest,” the butler spoke and Katsuki looked up to see his servant was nervous. He narrowed his eyes.
“Without sending a letter? Who is it?” he growled.
“Well...that is...” the butler wiped his face.
“Out with it.”
“Y-Your fiance, sir.”
To say that Katsuki was surprised was an understatement. He was furious.
“Hah?! No letter, suddenly barging in here, and making a fuss when the demon subjugation is close, whaat the hell is he thinking?!” Katsuki slammed down the paper he was looking at and stood up. He sighed and stomped over to open the doors with his butler following. “Out of all the stunts he could pull and the timing, it had to be now! If only I could just annul the engagement!” Katsuki had exclaimed that as he got closer to the drawing room where his fiance was and opened the doors.
His eyes widened when he saw the familiar head of green hair and those emerald doe eyes, smiling at him.
“Yes! We can annul the engagement right now if you do me a favor, Your Grace!” the Omega spoke with an even brighter smile than when they first met.
“Go home,” Katsuki growled.
“Unfortunately, I can’t...due to circumstances,” Izuku smiled softly. He looked somewhat exhausted. Katsuki took a closer look at his condition and clothes, noting the cloak the Omega wore was almost in shreds.
“Is the Count going through a tough time?” he asked as it was the first thing that came through his head.
“Huh?” Izuku looked surprised, “Oh, not that I know of, I just came to annul the engagement and ask of you something.”
Katsuki was starting to form a headache and pinched the bridge of his nose, “Look, it’s not a good time right now, how did you get here?”
Izuku smiled, “I started off on the carriage, walked a little, and took a wagon. It took two months to get here.”
Katsuki felt his headache grow, “And you didn’t think that in those two months you could send a letter.”
“You would have rejected me and told me to go back, I had no other choice.” Izuku was right, Katsuki would have rejected the letter because he hated having to take care of people. But that didn’t excuse the behavior. “Please let me stay here for 10 months, even less, just think of me as dead, I won’t bother you.”
Katsuki narrowed his eyes and sighed, “Follow me.”
He took Izuku to his office to discuss the circumstances. They sat down on the seats while the butler served tea.
“You’re going to have to explain what exactly is going on if I’m going to let you stay here,” Katsuki sighed.
Izuku gave a sad look before smiling, “I had an altercation at home and decided to leave, is that enough?”
“Still, for it warrant you to travel two months to get here, it must have been some argument.”
“...” Izuku didn’t respond and only gave a sad smile. His scent was painfully sad, even when they met at the engagement party, it was sad so Katsuki didn’t push it further. “If you could, I don’t need any servants, but let me borrow a building that isn’t used so I don’t bother you too much.”
Katsuki looked at Izuku, deep into his determined eyes. The Omega wasn’t hesitating. The Alpha sighed.
“We have an annex building that hasn’t been used,” Katsuki sighed, “But,” he glared, “I don’t think it should be used by you who barely knows how to care of himself.”
Izuku looked surprised and smiled, “If it’s dust, you have nothing to worry about, I can handle that much.”
“The annex is maintained,” Katsuki accepted the loss, pinching the bridge of his nose. He wasn’t going to be able to convince the Omega to keep away. “The demon subjugation is soon so please be wary and stay out of danger.”
Izuku smiled, “Yes!” It was all he needed. “Then, I will move my stuff to the annex immediately. Thank you, Your Grace.” He got up and left the room. Izuku was smiling brightly as he looked out the window. It was the first time since he was born where he took a step of his own.
He stopped for a moment, collapsing as his vision blurred slightly. He covered his mouth as a seizure took place. His heart and body hurt as he sat there on the ground. It’s been getting worse as time goes on but he was much happier where he was despite the circumstances.
Better than home where there wasn’t a care in the world of his well being.
Izuku breathed a little before he got up and prepared to move into the annex.
Meanwhile, Katsuki sat in his office, wondering what happened to his fiance. He shook his head of his thoughts and quickly went back to work.
--
2 months earlier...
Izuku had always been the black sheep of the Midoriya family. The Count family always had bright green hair with bright green eyes, shining brilliantly while Izuku was born with dark hair and dark eyes. It was later that he found out that he had been given to the count family by his grandparents.
His younger siblings were born a bit later but that was when things grew awry.
“Are these my younger siblings, Mother?” Izuku smiled as he looked at his twin siblings in the crib.
“Yes,” his mother smiled, “Take care of them, Izuku.”
His younger sister began coughing and that was when Izuku realized what his mother meant.
Tooru was born with a weak body so she was always being taken care of by everyone. Izuku was expected to also take care of her but his treatment was always met with punishments. Over the years, Izuku grew to learn that he shouldn’t ask for anything, shouldn’t expect anything, and should always give in to his siblings wants.
Izuku had become the forgotten sibling.
The first lesson Izuku learned was that he shouldn’t complain.
A loud slap echoed across the mansion.
“I told you to watch your sister, Izuku! She’s weak, now look, her knee is hurt!” his mother yelled at him.
“I-I was watching her! I promise! She just tripped!”
Tooru was sobbing, still young.
“Don’t complain, Izuku! You should know better!”
Izuku held back his tears. That night, no one came looking for him, no one bothered him. He had missed dinner.
The second thing he learned was that he shouldn’t expect anything from his family.
“Izuku, your brother’s graduation is happening, I will be leaving.” his mother said as she got ready.
“But you promised to take me out for my birthday.” Izuku, again held back from crying.
“Next time.”
Next time never came.
Since then, Izuku always had to let his siblings take priority. The star older brother, and the special younger siblings.
Izuku had nothing special about him except his drawings. Which, even his parents, never acknowledged.
“Mom look!” Izuku excitedly showed his art with a butterfly roaming the room. It was when he discovered his gift. The gift to bring things to life if he drew them.
His mom turned to him and gave an unimpressed look, “Ah, I see,” was all she said before turning back around and praising the oldest son.
Izuku learned that he just needed to be quiet.
The final lesson was that he needed to give into his siblings wishes.
Izuku grew up to have no friends because of his younger sister. He rejected all the letters to tea parties and such because Tooru asked him to stay. Even though, Omegas needed to socialize to gain a reputation.
Izuku threw it all away for the sake of his siblings.
Now to the present where Izuku is now twenty years of age and had learned his lessons. He expected nothing from his family as he ate in silence, listening to the family chatter away of their achievements. Izuku sighed and excused himself, eating less and less by the day. He felt sick but refused to get looked at by the family doctor. He would go to a different doctor to get checked out.
And that’s what he did. That’s where his current conundrum began.
“I’m sad to say that you have been diagnosed with Artist’s disease,” the doctor sighed, “If you don’t stop doing art, you will lose your life.”
Izuku clenched his hands, “How long?”
“A year, maybe. But that’s also being optimistic, you might not even see spring.”
Izuku bit his lip, “Does it get worse?”
“It does, the more you use your miracle. As you know, the capital has been blessed by the God of Art and every once in a while, someone is blessed with a miracle. However, there’s a balance to using the power of God. The worst case is your life.” The doctor, Chiyo, explained. Izuku sat there and weighed his options. If his family knew, would they treat him warmly or would they ignore his pain.
He sighed and got up, “Let me...think about it.”
Izuku spent the day thinking about his condition. He coughed up his meal and shivered. No one was there to attend to him but he didn’t care as he sighed.
He had less than a year to live and he had not been able to live his life as he wanted. That was the moment he decided, he’s going to do what he wanted in his final moments.
One week, that was all he needed. He would go north to the only other person he knew and would have no choice but to take him in. Izuku smiled as he got up from the bathroom floor. He would give his answer to Chiyo tomorrow.
--
“You want me to give you something that’ll help you last two more months?” Chiyo asked, surprised.
“Yes, I plan on taking a trip, it might take two months to get there.” Izuku smiled. He had always wanted to take a trip but had no reason to up until now.
Chiyo opened her mouth and sighed, “Alright, I’ll prepare the medicine, it’ll take a few days but it should be ready.”
Izuku smiled and handed her a small pouch.
“This is too much,” Chiyo said and Izuku continued to smile as he got up to take his leave.
“This is payment for the medicine supply and the check-up,” he said before he left.
He smiled happily as he made his way through the streets wondering what he should do next. He looked around the food stalls and remembered what Tooru asked of him before he was leaving.
“Ah, Izuku!” Shindo climbed up the stairs. Izuku gave him a blank look, devoid of emotions.
“Doctor, are you here for Tooru?” he asked with a courtious voice.
“Ah, yes, are you heading out?”
“Ye-”
“Brother!” Tooru appeared and jumped right into Izuku’s arms, hugging him. They were on the stairs and Izuku almost slipped but Shindo caught him. Izuku looked at him and the doctor quickly let him go, Tooru continued to cling onto Izuku.
“Tooru, that was dangerous,” Izuku slightly scolded her and the small girl giggled.
“Sorry, I was just excited,” she smiled, “Are you heading out? Can you get me something? Like food!”
Izuku looked down at her. He wanted to refuse but was weak to that smile.
“Yeah, sure.” He tried his best to smile.
“You’re the best! I can always count on you!” Tooru smiled.
Izuku muttered something under his breath.
“Hm? What was that?” Tooru asked and Izuku only smiled.
Izuku continued looking through the stalls and found the skewers and was enticed by the scent. He tried one and bought two more and headed home. He watched the bustling life of the capital and smiled. When he reached home, his smile disappeared.
“Brother!” Izuku’s younger brother, Kazuma appeared. “Something smells delicious,” he grabbed the bag from Izuku’s arms and Izuku sighed.
“That’s for you and Tooru, go have some.” he said as he left, suddenly feeling tired.
“Really?! Thank you, brother!” Kazuma happily accepted and ran toward Tooru’s room.
Meanwhile, Izuku went to his room to sleep.
“...zuku”
“...Izuku”
“Izuku! Wake up this instant!”
Izuku’s eyes shot open and he quickly got up from bed, breathing heavily. He looked up and saw his father glaring at him. Izuku held his head. The only time his father ever entered his room was to yell at him.
“How dare you give Tooru food from outside?! You know she can’t!” he began yelling and Izuku’s head began to hurt. He saw his mother and Kazuma in the back looking at him.
Izuku sighed, “I got it for her because she asked.”
“And now she’s sick! I expected better from you, you should know her body is weak.”
Izuku scrunched his face in disgust, “Look, I’m sorry I did that, I only thought it was fine because Tooru was doing better and she seemed excited. I personally tried the food and was certain it would be fine but if she still got sick, isn’t that her fault for not realizing?”
His father backed down, “You need to understand your sister better, you’re healthy so nothing would bother you.”
Izuku’s face darkened. He’s heard that for so long.
“You’re healthy so you can survive.”
“You’re healthy so you’ll be fine.”
They probably don’t even realize that he’s on the verge of dying.
Izuku calmed himself and sat up, “Look, you can tell Tooru that I am sorry for not considering her health, she looked fine so I decided to indulge her, I see nothing wrong with that. But I will apologize.”
His father seemed satisfied with that and sighed. He left Izuku as Izuku watched his brother give a guilty look.
Just a few more days and he would be able to leave.
--
A few days passed and Izuku got the medicine. He spent the day at home, packing his necessities. He looked at his meager art supplies and packed a pencil and his sketchbooks. The only thing that gave him company were his creations that he brought to life by his art. Even if he had nothing else, his art gave him company. He refused to give up the only thing that made him happy.
Izuku kept his things in his room as he went for dinner. The meal time was quiet.
“Oh Izuku, your brother will be returning from knight training so we will be going on a picnic. We’ll postpone your birthday.” Izuku’s father said.
Izuku was no longer surprised because he had missed so many of his birthdays and sighed. To the end, he won’t be able to celebrate his birthday.
“It’s fine, but I will not be able to attend the picnic, please enjoy without me.”
With that, he excused himself and left.
That was the last interaction Izuku had with his family as he left a note with a single line and went out the door.
--
Back in the present...
Izuku finally had a relaxing bath and stared at his medicine. He only had three more pills before his symptoms worsen. The Northern region of the Empire has barely any information on Artist’s disease which made it perfect for Izuku since no one would question him and his sickness.
He sighed and took one more pill as he went to bed in the quiet annex. It was nice since no one would bother him.
He laid down and went to bed. As the night grew darker, the colder it got and Izuku began to shiver uncontrollably. He could feel the fever worsening as he got up to find a kettle and warm up some water. The annex was pitch black and it was only Izuku’s lantern that lit up the halls dimly as he tried finding the kitchen.
He could hear faint footsteps in the halls and began to stay alert. He didn’t know there would be people in the annex. Could Katsuki have sent people to check up on him? It wasn’t likely.
Izuku continued walking and gasped when he bumped into a strong body. He was caught before he could fall and when he brought the light to the face, he gasped.
“Your Grace?” Izuku’s heart was pounding. “What are you doing here?”
Katsuki narrowed his eyes, “The temperature crystal isn’t working in the annex, so I came to check up on you and you don’t look so good.”
“I-I’m fine!” Izuku said, his voice shaking.
Katsuki growled and his hand reached Izuku’s forehead, “Like hell you are!”
And just like that, Izuku was effortlessly picked up and carried like a princess. Izuku’s body felt weak and the heat from Katsuki’s body made him melt.
“We’ll return to the main building so you could recover properly.” Katsuki said,
“No doctors...” Izuku muttered.
“Hah?!”
“No doctors...” Izuku repeated as his eyes closed.
--
Izuku woke up to feeling warm. His head was still spinning and it was still dark but he still sat up only to be startled by a growl. He quickly looked into the corner of the room to see glowing red eyes and a familiar head of ashen blond hair.
“Y-Your Grace,” Izuku muttered out, his voice hoarse from how dry it was.
The Alpha got up from the chair he was sitting on, looking tall and intimidating. Izuku seemed to have upset him for some reason. He coughed and started looking for the water as Katsuki approached him.
“I’ll get you the water,” Katsuki suddenly spoke in a low voice that startled Izuku. He had gotten really close as he poured Izuku water and handed him the glass. Izuku took small sips while Katsuki watched intently.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You’re not hiding something from me?” Katsuki crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at Izuku with an intensity in his gaze. It startled Izuku as he looked away.
“I’m just exhausted after traveling from so far,” Izuku came up with an excuse, “I should be fine soon.” He couldn’t face the Alpha but what he was saying wasn’t entirely a lie. His body gets more exhausted the more he strains it so it is why he easily gets sick.
Katsuki continued staring at him before he relented. Izuku continued to look away, gripping the blanket. He had to lie because he doesn’t know how Katsuki would react if Izuku told the truth. Would he be kicked out for being a burden? Or would he hurt Katsuki? Izuku wouldn’t be able to handle either.
“You should lie down and rest some more, it’s only dawn,” Katsuki spoke in a soft and low voice that soothed Izuku. He listened and lied down as Katsuki wiped his forehead. “Your fever is better.” Izuku hummed, closing his eyes. “Do you need anything? This is the first time I’m taking care of someone.” Izuku was now too weak to speak and only shook his head. “Why don’t you want a doctor?”
“Mmm...I’ll be fine...how long will you be here for?” Izuku asked, his voice shaking.
“Until the sun rises a little bit more, then I’ll send the butler to check up on you,” Katsuki replied, wiping more of Izuku’s sweat off his forehead.
“Mm...I have medicine in my bag, I’ll take it...later,” Izuku was starting to feel more exhausted.
“Really? I’ll grab it!” Katsuki said but Izuku stopped him by grabbing his hand.
“N-No! Later....just...stay here....” Izuku gripped that large hand and held it as he started to fall asleep.
The next time he awoke, the sun was high in the sky as it reached his eyes. Izuku got up, feeling much better and slid off the bed. Katsuki was no longer there, his water had been refilled. Izuku poured himself a glass and drank it in small sips. He wasn’t as sick as he was before so he got up and stretched.
He knew he was in the main house and stepped out into the balcony, wearing a shawl and taking a look outside. The view was beautiful and surreal. Izuku closed his eyes and smiled, enjoying the cool breeze. He could feel his heartbeat, listen to the wind and leaves move through the ground, and he could hear the small shouts of the knights.
This was the first time he felt and peace and not afraid or guilty.
“My Lady,” a familiar voice startled Izuku and he opened his eyes and turned to the sound of the voice to see Katsuki leaning against the door frame of the balcony doors, glaring at him. “I don’t think you should be out here in your condition.”
Izuku choked on air and looked away, “I feel better, I just wanted fresh air.”
Katsuki properly stood up and offered his hand, “I can’t have you getting sick again, it’s a bother, especially when you refuse to see a doctor.”
Izuku smiled and took the offered hand. Ever since the day they met at the engagement party, Katsuki had always been honest of his feelings. It was a refreshing experience because Izuku had always been suffocated by the hidden hatred that his family gave him. Katsuki was always honest about how he felt of Izuku’s actions.
Izuku still remembers when Katsuki called him a squid for always just sticking around people and not really engaging at their engagement party. That comment stuck to Izuku because it was the first time that someone engaged with him without much remorse and it was the only time he was happy.
Izuku was led to the bed and Katsuki settled at the chair across from him. He was still glaring at him and Izuku couldn’t help but smile. It was the first time anyone was actually concerned with him.
“You paint?” Katsuki suddenly asked and Izuku blinked from surprise.
“Ah, y-yes! How did you know?” Izuku asked.
“I looked through your bag and the only thing I saw were sketchbooks and a pencil, so I just thought to ask.” Katsuki seemed to awkwardly try to converse with Izuku.
Izuku was surprised but he smiled. “I try to draw anything that I see that’s beautiful.”
Katsuki stayed silent for a moment before he spoke, “...The terrance on the third floor has a nice view, you can go there and draw.” Izuku’s eyes widened but Katsuki began to glare. “However! You must wear warm clothes, let me or the butler know that you’re there, and you must come back inside every hour!” he scolded and Izuku smiled, “You must follow those rules or else you’ll lose those priviledges!”
“Yes!” Izuku responded.
Katsuki sighed and muttered a small ‘okay’ before he looked at Izuku, “Get changed and we’ll have something to eat.” Izuku flinched because it was the first time someone recognized that he hadn’t eaten in a while. He smiled and nodded as Katsuki got up to leave the room. “I’ll wait outside.”
Izuku smiled softly as Katsuki walked to the door and shut it softly. He stood up and got ready. As Katsuki said, he was waiting outside and offered his arm. Izuku took it and they walked together.
“What kind of food do you like?” Katsuki asked and Izuku continued to smile.
“Nothing greasy, but other than that I am fine with anything.”
“Okay.”
Izuku continued letting Katsuki lead him toward where they were going, curious as to why they skipped the dining hall and went outside. He was curious until he saw a large glass building that they entered and were surrounded by plants. It was the first time that Izuku had seen something like this. He was curious and kept looking around at all the plants that haven’t withered away from the cold. It wasn’t until he was seated that he asked Katsuki where they were.
“Ah, we’re in the greenhouse, it was built by the designers after arguing what would be the best way to maintain the plants and the engineers stuck with glass,” Katsuki smirked and Izuku flushed slightly.
Oddly enough, he liked it when Katsuki was smirking and proud of his people.
The servants started to bring in the meal to the table that was set out for them and Katsuki let the servants know not to serve anything greasy. Izuku was surprised because his preferences were taken into consideration. Izuku couldn’t help but smile as he was experiencing many firsts with Katsuki.
“Your Grace, the meal is very good,” Izuku took another bite of his food.
Katsuki stared at him for a moment and sighed, “Call me Katsuki, it’s weird for my fiance to call me ‘Your Grace’.”
Izuku smiled, “...But we’re anulling the engagement.”
Katsuki glared, “Still, it’s better to call me Katsuki.”
Izuku laughed, “Then call me Izuku.”
It was the first time Izuku had experienced a peaceful meal as he conversed with Katsuki. He had never experienced this form of happiness before and, in his final moments, Izuku would cherish this.
--
“Doctor, where are you going?!” Shindo hurriedly asked Chiyo as she boarded the carriage.
“I’m heading north, there’s a patient I wish to see,” Chiyo responded, “They don’t have long left, so I’ll be back by early spring, pease take care of the clinic until then.”
Shindo looked shocked, “Is there really a reason for making a journey there for one patient who is going to die?!”
Chiyo frowned, “Child, I have told you that every person deserves to be treated equally, that is the duty of us doctors. Don’t forget. If I can lessen their pain just a little, I will do so.”
Shindo looked down in shame. “Who’s the patient?”
Chiyo was aware of the patients that Shindo took care of and knew the reason why that certain patient came to see him because it was obvious that Shindo had not been doing a good job at caring for his patients. So, she decided to lie, “I don’t remember the name...something ‘ku’ or something.”
Shindo looked at Chiyo and gritted his teeth, “Alright.”
“If I come back and something has happened to my clinic, you’ll be seeing the streets, boy!” Chiyo threatened as she finally got in the carriage.
If she left now, she would make it before the North closes its gates for the winter. She looked out the window and wondered how that patient was faring. The North doesn’t have many doctors that know about Artist’s disease so it would be better if she were there to monitor that Omega’s condition.
--
Izuku entered the dark room. He was holding his painting supplies as he walked to the terrance doors. He only had his shawl as he opened the door and welcomed the cool breeze. As Katsuki had stated, the view was gorgeous. Izuku’s fingers trembled as he excitedly started to open his books and began sketching. Anytime Izuku sketches or paints, he loses track of time. His mind drifts to the views or imagination he has as he sketched. He didn’t know how much time had passed until he heard a growl right in his ear.
“I-zu-ku,” a familiar angry voice called and Izuku gasped, jumping from his seat.
“Katsuki!” Izuku exclaimed, “W-What are you doing here? You should have knocked!”
Katsuki crossed his arms and glared at Izuku, “I knocked several times but you wouldn’t answer and I find you out here,” he reached out to feel Izuku’s cheeks, “And you’re freezing! What did I tell you?!”
Izuku pouted and looked down. He knew he would have gotten in trouble for not saying anything.
“I tried looking for someone to say something but I couldn’t find anyone!” He exclaimed.
“And you didn’t wear warm clothes nor take a break!” Katsuki growled. “Get inside, you have another fever.”
Izuku knew that Katsuki was concerned which is why he wasn’t afraid when Katsuki picked him up and carried him to his room where he was settled on the chair with a blanket thrown over his head.
“Wait here,” Katsuki growled and stepped out of the room. Izuku waited patiently, finally feeling weak as the fever took over. He heard the door open and he turned, his eyes widening when he saw a doctor enter the room and Izuku flinched.
“Now, let me take a look at you,” the doctor requested and Izuku covered himself in the blanket.
“What are you doing?” Katsuki grumbled and Izuku refused to move. “Oh, you’re getting checked up!” Katsuki grabbed Izuku and lugged him to bed like a piece of luggage.
“S-Sir! Please! He’s not a knight but a sick patient! Please handle him gently!” the doctor exclaimed.
Izuku was thrown on the bed and forced to lie down while the doctor checked on him. Izuku had fallen asleep in the process because his body was to exhausted to fight.
As the doctor checked his arms he hummed and shook his head, “This isn’t good, sir.”
Katsuki, who was watching the entire thing, glared. “What?”
“He has spot on his arms, is very sick, and constantly weak. I’m surprised he’s walking.” The doctor explained.
“Out with it, what’s wrong with him?” There was concern laced in Katsuki’s voice.
“He has artist’s disease but I can’t discern what kind he has as I’m a doctor of the North and we don’t have many people gifted in art like the capital has but I know of the symptoms.”
Katsuki grumbled, “What’s in artist’s disease?”
“Well, if the person continues doing their art, they can either begin to get very sick, lose their limbs, and worse case scenario, lose their life.”
Katsuki’s heart stopped when he heard those words.
“There’s a balance when it comes to using the power of Gods,” the doctor continued, “If they stop performing the miracles they have been gifted, then the user should be fine, but most people don’t.”
Katsuki looked at Izuku, his eyes narrowed as he muttered, “What the fuck is going on, Izuku?”
Was it more than just a fight that happened at the Count’s estate? Did Izuku actually run away?
Katsuki would have to ask Izuku when he woke up. For now, he let the Omega sleep soundly and dismissed the doctor. He took a seat and watched Izuku before his eyes landed on the art that Izuku was working on and took a look at the work. His eyes widened when he saw the gorgeous work and wondered why Izuku doesn’t tell anyone of his talent.
He would have to wait for Izuku to wake up to ask anything. For now, he let the Omega rest as much as he could.
--
Izuku opened his eyes and it was well into the next day. Izuku’s fever lessened and he sat up for a drink of water. He startled when he heard a piece of paper rustling and he looked over to see Katsuki standing there with Izuku’s sketch in his hands. Izuku gasped and tried to slip out of bed but Katsuki had already noticed him and growled, “Stay in bed.”
Izuku flinched and slid back inside the bed, obediently. He stared at Katsuki holding his sketch and became nervous.
“It’s a really good work,” Katsuki said, looking at the sketch and Izuku’s ears perked up.
“R-Really? I’m sure it’s just a normal sketch.” Izuku hid his face slightly as h felt hot.
Katsuki snorted, “I may not be an expert in art, but I can tell that your art is out of this world. I didn’t know that the view from the terrace looked like this.”
Izuku flushed. He had never received praise for his art despite trying to get recognized for it. Katsuki approached Izuku’s bed and stood beside it. He continued staring at the art.
“I can send this to someone, they know more about art than I do and I’m sure they’ll be happy to see someone of your talent,” Katsuki said and Izuku blinked.
“Y-You don’t have to, I’m sure it’s really not worth it,” Izuku was still not confident in his works. He had lost that right the moment he wasn’t recognized.
“It’s worth it, I don’t fucking lie,” Katsuki argued, “I’ll send it and ask him about your condition.” Izuku choked. Katsuki glared at him, “So, which one is it? Are you a minor case or a major case?”
Izuku looked away. He couldn’t answer.
Katsuki grit his teeth, smelling the sad scent in the Omega. It confirmed his doubts that Izuku was going through something that he had to leave his family. So, he took a seat next to Izuku on his bed.
“Tell me everything, Izuku,” he said as softly as he could.
Izuku looked up at Katsuki and gripped the blanket, “It’s a long story...are you sure you have time?”
Katsuki grinned, “Seeing that I’m here, of course I do, so tell me.”
Izuku was nervous but he took his time to speak his story. By the time he was done, Katsuki had a smile on his face but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“Izuku...” he said in a mildly angry tone.
“Ah, I also was told a week before I decided to leave that I have artist’s disease,” Izuku smiled, “I wanted a quiet place to gather my thoughts and thought it would be a burden on my family.” Izuku had pondered the thought of telling his family. But he would only be receiving the one thing he longed for at the end of his life and that seemed unfair.
“How so?” Katsuki crossed his arms over his chest.
“Well, my birthday clashed with my brother’s return so I would spend my birthday alone, I had to give up my own things for my siblings, and my siblings were praised for everything while I was left alone. I just didn’t want the past to repeat itself, so I left.” Izuku laughed a little, “It’s childish, right?”
Katsuki looked at Izuku with a blank face, “Why?” Izuku looked surprised, “Your birthday was ruined because of your brother’s return, right?”
“...No.”
Katsuki sighed, “Did you hit your siblings or ever ask for your things in return when they took them?”
“N-No!” Izuku exclaimed, shocked by such a statement.
“Then, did you torment your siblings who were receiving praises out of jealousy?”
“W-What?”
Katsuki pinched the bridge of his nose, “Acting like a child...is when you’re scared that you’ll spill water on your father’s documents or when you run away from home for a week. It’s nothing like that, so what counts as being childish?” Katsuki looked into Izuku’s confused eyes. “You also conceded everything to your siblings.”
“Yeah, but conceding things to siblings is a given, right?” Izuku said.
“Since when?” Katsuki glared at Izuku.
Izuku realized then...when did he start thinking it was a given? Izuku suddenly felt tears stream down his face.
“Izuku...” Katsuki called but Izuku was deep in his thoughts. “Izuku Midoriya...” Katsuki said, his large hand patting Izuku’s curls as he made the Omega lean on him, “Instead of holding it in, just cry. If you don’t like something, say it to my face. If you’re in pain, say you’re in pain.”
“Katsuki?” Izuku was surprised tears continued to fall.
‘I think this is how you comfort someone...’ Katsuki thought, looking away from the crying Omega. He cleared his throat, “You can tell me the rest of your story after you’ve cried, you’ll feel better.”
Izuku nodded, and hid his face in Katsuki’s shirt as the Alpha continued to pat his head in comfort. Izuku continued to sob into Katsuki’s shirt as the Alpha thought about how much stress Izuku built just by repressing all his tears. It took a while for Izuku to calm down and when he was done, he wiped away the remaining tears.
‘How long has it been since I cried to someone else?’ Izuku thought as he leaned his head against Katsuki’s shoulder. He stared at the shirt and noticed the wet stain on the Duke’s shirt.
“Are you done?” Katsuki spoke up and Izuku looked up to meet with red eyes.
“A-Ah, I’m sorry about your shirt.” Izuku bit his lip. “I’m sorry for being a bother. I’m sorry for coming here. Please let me live in a separate building until the end of our contract.” Izuku couldn’t help but feel guilty. All he could do was apologize.
“Is living in a separate building going to make you feel better?” Katsuki growled, “You’re sick, you can always stop drawing.”
“No!” Izuku held his hands to his chest, “I refuse to stop painting. It’s my only friend that was there for me throughout my life. I would be nothing without painting.”
Katsuki sighed.
“At times like this, you should thank someone for being at your side instead of apologizing. I also apologize for hurting you by saying that, but I can’t help but worry.” The Alpha smiled.
“...” Izuku looked up at Katsuki in astonishment.
“Hurry.”
“...Thank you.”
“It’s easy to apologize or say you’re fine but if you say it enough times, you and the other party will get used to it.” Katsuki said, “Eventually, those words will become lighter for the other party and become an expectation from you.” Izuku’s heart thumped, “From then on, the worth of your words will decrease and you will shrink even more.” Katsuki smiled, “But words of thanks will feel good when you both hear it.”
Izuku never thought of that. ‘I’m sorry’ to avoid confrontation, ‘I’m fine’ because there was no other way...to think those words would lose their color and worth choking him instead.
Izuku smiled, “Thank you, Katsuki!” It was the first smile he genuinely gave without trying to hide anything, feeling lighter.
Katsuki stared for a moment, his face heating up. “...Sure.”
After that, Katsuki sent a letter to his acqutaince, someone he really didn’t want to message but he had to since that person knew more about artist’s disease than he did. He didn’t know when it started, but every time Katsuki looked at Izuku, his heart started to hurt and he wanted to help him. Make him smile. Make him enjoy life.
Katsuki sent Izuku’s sketch along with the letter and hopefully that person could send word to Izuku’s parents of where he was. He wondered if the family even cared or is even trying to find Izuku.
--
Earlier...after Izuku left the Midoriya estate...
A maid hurried to the dining hall where the master and lady were. She rushed in and exclaimed an emergency after cleaning Izuku’s room.
“Ma’am! Sir!” she exclaimed and both heads of the household, “Lady Izuku has gone!”
Both heads looked unconcerned, “Is that so? He’ll come back, he probably went out like he usually does.” Izuku’s father said, flipping through the newspaper.
“N-No...that’s not it...it’s been two days since we last saw him...” the maid looked nervous, “We just started cleaning his room after some days and I found this letter...” The maid offered the letter and the head of the household read its contents.
‘I’m leaving, don’t find me’ it read and Izuku’s father inhaled deeply.
“Send the knights to search for him, it hasn’t been long since he left, he’ll return home once hes cooled off.” he said.
“That boy, really...” Izuku’s mother spoke, “All because we yelled at him? He should be grateful that we didn’t punish him after Tooru became sick.”
“Is he that upset that we have to miss his birthday?” Izuku’s father sighed then laughed, “He’ll come back when he realizes that he needs us.”
A month passed and Izuku never returned. Izuku’s father sent the knights and they tracked him to the capital but they lost sight of him.
“That damn boy!” Izuku’s father threw down all the papers on his desk, “Does he realize what he’s done?! Is he that upset! Is he that determined to make his own sister sick with worry?!”
“Father...” The eldest sibling of the family spoke up, “Maybe something happened to him...”
“Hah! Even if he returns, he’d better go on his knees and beg for forgiveness before I let him inside this house ever again!” Izuku’s father said.
After 2 months, Izuku’s mother collapsed and the heads started to think about what they have done to make Izuku this unhappy.
“Shindo, tell me their conditions.” Izuku’s father sighed.
“Well, Lady Tooru is doing better, just weak from stress while the Lady is still bedridden...” Shindo sighed. He was upset at Izuku for leaving so abrubtly and turning the Midoriya house upside down. It was selfish of him.
Shindo was excused and looked at his papers. He stared at Chiyo’s notes at Izuku’s chart, reading that he had artist’s disease and didn’t have long to live. He frowned but chose not to disclose it to the Count as he had much on his plate.
Nobody ever asked what happened to Izuku or if he was well. They only thought that he was selfish and ungrateful.
--
It didn’t take long for Katsuki to get a reply as the butler handed him the note from Todoroki Shoto. The Todoroki’s were the top family with special gifts. Katsuki and Shoto were acquanted in the Academy but they didn’t get along. Katsuki sent the message in haste as Shoto would definitely know something about artist’s disease and could probably use his miracle to help Izuku. After all, he was gifted with the ability to heal by playing music.
He opened the letter and a vein popped out from his head.
‘Okay’ and it was signed. For some odd reason, that ticked him off.
“It won’t take long for him to come here,” Katsuki sighed and looked at the butler. “...Where do Omegas like to go? The training grounds?”
The butler looked at his master and bowed, “I will look into it.”
Katsuki leaned back in his seat and groaned. Izuku definitely needed an outing. He came with barely any clothes and it seems that he needed some time to be out and explore. He was caged to his home for too long. Katsuki sighed.
--
“You have some good luck, doctor,” the wagon driver spoke, “The north is about to close its borders but we should reach there before then.”
Chiyo smiled. “Thank you, because of you, I’ll be able to see my son.” She lied.
“Huh? Yeah sure...” the wagon driver turned his head back, “The first snowfall will start soon, so we will reach there before that.” He noticed what Chiyo was doing, “But what are you stiching on that map?”
Chiyo continued to smile, “Oh this? I’m trying to find someone is all.”
She looked up into the sky and worried about that Omega, confident she would find him.
--
Izuku looked out the window and stared as Katsuki practiced the sword in the early mornings and nights. Katsuki shined brightly, compared to Izuku. He was like the sun that kept getting brighter by the day.
Izuku picked up the habit of drawing while Katsuki trained nearby. Katsuki’s beauty as he trained never failed to spark something in Izuku. An inspiration. He shined so brightly that it never failed to capture Izuku’s gaze even under the dim moonlight.
Izuku continued to draw and he would get so lost in his thoughts that before he realized it, the sun had risen and he spent all night drawing.
For the longest time, Izuku had always thought that Katsuki had hated him. But the kindness that Katsuki had shown him proved otherwise. Maybe that’s why Izuku couldn’t keep his eyes off Katsuki. Something in him just wanted to keep looking at the only person that offered him a shoulder and let him cry.
Izuku sighed as he finished and thought that he should get started on filling out his journal with things he wants to do. He had heard that those who are on the brink of dying make a list of things they want to do before they die. Izuku stared at the blank pages and sighed.
“Is there anything else in the North other than magical beasts?” Katsuki voice suddenly interrupted Izuku’s thoughts and the Omega startled, turning around to see Katsuki leaning against the door. The Alpha walked toward Izuku.
“Katsuki, did you not knock?” Izuku asked, still startled.
“...I did, five times, but you didn’t answer,” Katsuki stopped in front of Izuku, standing tall, still covered in sweat from practice. “What were you doing that you didn’t notice?” He looked at the table and Izuku realized what was there.
“T-That!” Izuku flushed, his face heating up.
Katsuki smirked, holding up the sketch that Izuku was working on. “Oh...”
“That’s!” Izuku stuttered, “You just looked so cool that I drew you...” his face turned an even darker shade of red. He didn’t notice that Katsuki also turned pink when he said that.
“Is that so...” Katsuki said, softly.
“Y-Yes,” Izuku fiddled with his shirt, “If I draw it, I can remember the forgotten time that has passed.” He flushed, “But, what are you doing here?”
Katsuki cleared his throat, “I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come for an inspection. It’s stifling to be at the estate all the time, right?”
Izuku’s eyes shined, “Really?! I’ll come!”
It didn’t take long to get ready but Izuku was still nervous. He still believed that Katsuki outshined him and didn’t deserve to be by his side. He was plain and ordinary, much compared to the bright people around him.
So, as he approached the carriage to see Katsuki standing there with his eyes wide and pink face, speechless as Izuku approached. His mouth was left agape and Izuku couldn’t help but look away in embarassment, nervous.
“Uh...” Katsuki cleared his throat, “We’ll be riding in the carriage then walking the rest of the way, is that okay?”
Izuku looked back and smiled, “Yes!” He took Katsuki’s hand and boarded the carriage.
As they sat in the carriage, Katsuki couldn’t help but think that Izuku really is a Nobleman’s son. Besides barely acting like it.
“...Who’d you learn your etiquette from?” Katsuki suddenly asked, curious.
Izuku looked at him and smiled, “My siblings learned from our parents while I learned from the viscountess.”
“Why?”
“...Because my sibling was very sick back then so they didn’t have the leisure to teach me back then.” Izuku still kept up his smile. It almost sounded like an excuse as he said it.
‘Any other questions will probably be rude’ Katsuki thought. He decided to change the subject and ask about what’s in Izuku’s hands. “What’s that?”
Izuku looked down in his journal. “Ah, it still pretty empty but I wanted to make a list of things I wanted to do, I don’t know what else I want to write.” He handed Katsuki the journal.
As he flipped through the pages he asked, “Is there a need for it to be grand? Don’t think too deeply and write down what you want. It can be simple. It’s not like you only write things you can do, right?”
Izuku stared at Katsuki and started to think. He may have been right.
“I may be overstepping,” Katsuki said, “But I think you think too much.” The carriage came to a stop. “Even just a little while ago, you’re allowed to feel sad or angry that your siblings were taught differently from you.” Katsuki opened the door of the carriage and stepped out. “Izuku,” he turned arround and offered his hand, “This world is wide, don’t make it small because of your experiences in the countdom.” Izuku took his hand and stepped off. “The count’s family trapped a growing tree in a small pot. Without a choice, the tree was forced to settle its roots in a small pot. Even if it were to jump out of the pot because it was unable to endure any longer, it’s not your fault.”
Izuku smiled and couldn’t help laughing. That seemed to annoy Katsuki.
“What?”
Izuku giggled, “Nothing, I just imagined a tree jumping out of a pot with legs.”
The two walked forward to the town and Izuku whispered, “Thank you, Katsuki.”
Katsuki didn’t hear it. They continued walking side by side into the town and Izuku was mesmerized as a festival was set up. Everywhere he looked, it was excitement all around.
“The festival of abundance was set up because we have an excess of supplies from the magical beasts,” Katsuki stared at Izuku, answering the question before the Omega could even say anything because Katsuki was learning how to read him. “We are able to eat meat to out hearts content because of the many magical beasts that come down during winter and we kill.” Katsuki glanced at Izuku, “We utilize all parts of the beast, not just the meat. We turn the bones to ornaments and pendants.”
“Wow! That’s amazing!” Izuku praised. He excitedly looked around and Katsuki opened his mouth.
“Is there anything you wan-” but he was cut off by the bell ringing. Katsuki instinctively grabbed Izuku by the waist.
“Katsuki? What’s wrong?” Izuku asked.
“Looks like a beast has appeared, I need to go for a bit.”
Izuku followed Katsuki as they approached the gates where the knights on duty greeted them. They looked through the window and saw a giant beast roaming about.
“What’s the situation?” Katsuki asked.
“Well-” The knight that answered was interrupted by the other knights handling the beast.
Katsuki stepped forth and gave orders to the two knights that were there. “Protect the lady, I’ll be heading down there.”
“Katsuki!” Izuku said as he watched Katsuki jump from the window effortlessly. The knights assured him that he would be fine.
“I can’t believe it’s a hertha,” one knight said. “It’s big and strong, even injuring it is difficult.” Izuku started to get nervous as he watched Katsuki draw out his sword and take on the beast one-on-one. “Only the master can drive it away.”
Izuku watched as Katsuki get dirtied with blood.
‘Something to help, Katsuki...” He thought and grabbed his art. The knights continued to talk nd noticed Izuku was gone. They quickly chased after him and Izuku quickly drew a sketch of the hertha. Izuku rushed to Katsuki’s side after the hertha’s started to run away.
“Katsuki!” Izuku exclaimed.
“Izuku, I would have come to you, if you waited.” Katsuki sighed.
Izuku grabbed his hankerchief and wiped the blood on Katsuki’s face. There was a small scratch on him. Katsuki’s eyes were wide and he gripped Izuku’s wrist.
He noticed how cold he was. “Oi, did you not get him a blanket?” He glared at the knights who were supposed to take care of Izuku.
“Ah, I’m not that cold!” Izuku argued.
Katsuki sighed and relented. He stared at Izuku for a moment, “...Alright, take this,” he put something around Izuku’s neck and all the knights freaked out.
“No way!” They exclaimed and Katsuki looked upset.
“All the knights who just said that are to do a hundred laps right now,” Katsuki glared.
“Oh no!” The knights exclaimed as Katsuki led Izuku away.
Izuku stared at the stone, “Is this a rock?”
Katsuki hummed, “It’s a special stone called ‘Haron’.” The stone glowed a golden hue and Izuku suddenly felt warm. “It’s a rare item that comes from subduing a magical beast.”
“Subduing a beast...why are you giving this to me?” Izuku looked up at Katsuki, innocently and worried.
“How do I explain this?” Katsuki started to sweat, “It’s a superstition in the North that a weak person who has it will become healthy.”
“Oh...”
“I hope you become healthy,” Katsuki smiled before continuing to walk. “Let’s explore the festival tomorrow since this has happened.”
“Oh, sure!” Izuku said, happily walking alongside Katsuki.
Something floated by them and Izuku turned around, curious. His eyes widened at who he saw.
“Doctor Chiyo?!” Izuku exclaimed. “Why have you come here?”
Chiyo smiled, kindly, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. You look much healthier.” She looked up at Katsuki, “Who is that beside you?”
“I’m Katsuki Bakugou,” Katsuki greeted, taking the doctor’s hand and shaking it. Chiyo immediately recognized the name.
“A pleasure to meet you, Your Excellency,” Chiyo spoke, formally. She thought she knew she recognized Izuku’s name as someone from a wealthy family. She knew that someone from the Midoriya family was engaged with the Duke.
“It seems that we have a lot to discuss,” Katsuki noted, “Shall we head back?”
Everyone agreed.
--
Shoto looked out the window of his carriage as he stared at the Count’s estate. He sighed knowing he took Katsuki’s request with delight since it had been a while since he sent a letter. He was quite surprised when Katsuki’s hawk swooped in and took the meat he was going to take a bite of. He laughed at the thought of it but was surprised that Katsuki needed his help with something and wanted to know more about artist’s disease.
Usually, that swordsmaster took no care of anything besides the sword. He accepted the request easily and was surprised by the gorgeous art that was sent with the letter. His family worked with the arts and he had seen many talents, but he never once saw such gorgeous art before. The creator must have been someone close to Katsuki.
Shoto got off his carriage and looked at the Count’s estate, before entering. He was greeted by the Count.
“It’s an honor to fulfill us with your presence, Your Grace,” he greeted, formally.
Shoto, oddly enough, didn’t like his presence.
“Have you prepared the art?” Shoto asked and the Count gave him a look that was mixed with annoyance and nervousness.
Shoto ignored it.
The Count, however, recalled the time he entered Izuku’s room. He remembered that Izuku’s room was always the farthest away from everyone else. What did that child say before? He wanted the room closer to everyone but back then the Count scolded him for asking for something but he realized only recently that it was normal for a child to be near his family. He entered the room and noticed how plain it looked. He noted the art supplies that weren’t expensive and the art near by.
He looked at one that looked like the time they went out for a picnic. He couldn’t even recall if Izuku was there. But for some reason, the art looked so lonely. Tooru had grabbed some art and praised it, wondering why Izuku never spoke about his talents. The Count couldn’t even remember if Izuku had ever shown his work. He put down the art and left the room because he couldn’t bare to look at it anymore.
That was when the letter came from Duke Todoroki, asking about the art of the second-born child. He was upset, at first, wondering what Izuku was doing and bringing more shame to the family. But he relented and gathered his art.
Now the Duke was looking through the art and smiling happily. The Count couldn’t see why, they weren’t as impressive as the other children’s works. He said as much and the Duke narrowed his eyes, sipping his tea before speaking.
“It seems that you need to improve your judgement in art, Count,” he smiled, “Even people who are not familiar in art, will laugh.” The Count sputtered.
“I’m not sure what you mean, but to look at Izuku’s art makes me very uncomfortable.” he said.
Shoto was not surprised. In his time of sponsoring many artists, he knew that the best ones with the miracles never got along with their families. Those who have art disease and have a great relationship with their families are uncommon. So, most hid their disease. ‘But...’ Shoto looked at the Count, ‘Was their relationship so bad that he hid his art from his family?’
“Count,” Shoto’s face turned stoic, “Are you unaware that your son has art disease?”
“How so? He had no talent from the beginning.” The Count replied, unfazed. “I think you’re mistaken, if he;s that sick, then how come he left home?”
“He left home?” Shoto asked.
“It’s difficult to find him right now.” The Count cleared his throat.
“Ah,” Shoto sighed, “So, in this houseold, ‘leaving home’ also means going to his fiance’s home? It was, in fact, that Duke Bakugou himself sent me here.”
“Izuku...is in the North?!” The Count exclaimed.
Shoto laughed, “Claiming that the young lady is healthy even though you don’t know his whereabouts, so you’re saying my friend is lying?”
“What an absurb accusation!” The Count stood up with shock. “There’s nothing more to discuss here, please leave.”
Shoto gave a satisfied smile, “There’s nothing more useful here.” He rolled up all of Lady Izuku’s art and took it with him.
“I am grateful for the information shared about the child, I will repay you,” The Count said, comepletely unbothered by the fact that his child could be dying.
Shoto paused for a moment, “...This is amusing.”
“Amusing, Your Excellency?”
“So you don’t believe that she has art disease, but you believe she’s in the North?”
“What?!”
“That sounds like, you only hear what you want to hear and ignore the rest.” Shoto stepped out of the office and looked back, “If it was me and someone told me that my child was sick, I would first ask if that child was okay and what sickness they have.”
The Count shook in anger, his face darkening.
Shoto’s smile disappeared, “Goodbye then,” he said and left the room and headed out of the estate.
Now that Shoto had taken a good look at the art, most of them had only the background and the main art was missing. Those were hints that the miracle that Izuku had was the Miracle of Creation.
Shoto thought for a moment and sighed.
“It might...already be too late.”
--
“How did you find me?” Izuku asked. After Katsuki said that they needed to talk, they all headed to the carriage and Chiyo sat with the pair.
“I may look like this,” Chiyo smiled, “But I’m quite good at embroidery.” She showed her design and the pair were surprised.
“Hmm, do you do something with the embroidery?” Izuku hummed.
“Yes!” Chiyo exclaimed, “Say I needed to find my gloves, I just burn the piece and I’m led to where it is.”
Both Izuku and Katsuki looked amazed.
“When I was younger, I used to catch criminals with the skill!” Chiyo said.
Katsuki noticed something, “You’re using past tense, could you also have...”
Chiyo looked at Izuku, “Yes.” She looked sad, “I have art disease and on top of that, I am slowly losing my eyesight.” She still continued to smile, “It’s an embroiderer’s worst nightmare to lost the one thing they need to stitch...God is quite cruel.”
“Then does that mean, you can’t see?” Izuku asked.
“No, I can still see, I found you, didn’t I?”
“Then is your disease cured?” Katsuki was next to ask.
“...No,” Chiyo explained further, “Art disease is incurable, or rather there is no cure for something so rare.”
“There is no cure, but your eyesight is there,” Katsuki looked confused.
“I...stopped doing embroidery,” Chiyo said, her face turning grim.
Izuku’s heart stopped, “...Is that really the only way?”
Chiyo sighed, “It’s the quickest and easiest way, though I understand why it’s hard especially if you have nothing else to make up for it. It’s rare for someone to have art disease since gaining a miracle is a one percent chance in the population. Losing a limb is rare, but even rare is losing one’s life.” Izuku’s choked, gripping his shirt.
The carriage became silent. Katsuki noticed Izuku’s expression became pale. The carriage came to a halt and before Katsuki could say something, Izuku stood up.
“Katsuki...today was fun,” Izuku opened the carriage door and stopped out, “If it’s okay with you...” He turned to face Katsuki, whose eyes were wide, “Let’s to this again.”
Chiyo followed and turned to Katsuki for a second before turning back. She followed Izuku. Once they were a distance away and no one was around, Chiyo finally asked.
“...Does he not know?”
Izuku stopped and turned to the small doctor, “Yes...it sours the mood.” He gave a sad smile, “To live with someone that’s dying...that’s...so sad. It will hurt Katsuki so I plan to run away when I get the chance so he’s not hurt.” Izuku frowned, “But the way he’s been treating me has been so kind and warm that I want to stay a little bit longer.” He smiled again and laughed a little, “Is that selfish?”
Izuku turned back and led Chiyo to a room where the servants offered tea. The two sat across from each other and sipped their tea.
Izuku spoke up first from the silence. “...I’m sorry for deceiving you about my identity.”
“It’s okay, that doesn’t matter when it comes to the sick,” Chiyo smiled, assuringly. “But...” she frowned, “Isn’t there an appointed doctor in the Count’s residence?”
Izuku frowned and stared at his tea. He gripped the cup tightly. “...I don’t really trust that person so I went to someone else.”
“Why?”
“The story will be long,” Izuku laughed.
Chiyo smiled, “Pain of the heart is the root of all diseases, tell me what happened.”
Izuku pondered for a moment before he looked up and spoke. “...Doctor, do you know that in my life, the one at the center is someone else and not me?” Izuku began, “I had always supported my older Alpha brother as the next heir and sacrificed my things for my younger siblings because I was the second oldest and an Omega.” Izuku remembered the time when he craved the attention of his mother who pushed him away when he needed her the most. He would have nightmares and would be ignored. His mother slapped him when he cried because he wasn’t getting attention, being called immature. Chiyo stayed silent. Izuku was also still a child but was expected to grow up at an earlier age. “’If only Tooru was as healthy as you’ was what my mother said to me.” Izuku laughed, darkly, “If I said I was sick, they would look the other way and tell me that I was still healthy and should be grateful that my life was pleasant.” Chiyo frowned. “If I threw a tantrum,” Izuku frowned, “I would have been thrown to the slums.”
Chiyo reached for Izuku’s hands, “Staying by those that hurt you, is a tough thing to do.” Izuku started to feel tears stream down his face, “You did well for enduring this long.” Izuku didn’t know how much he wanted to hear those kinds of words. “...You see, I went through pain, too,” Chiyo explained, “My family made fun of me for enjoying embroidery since we were a family of warriors, they had always wanted me to be a knight, too.” Chiyo smiled, sadly, “But I didn’t listen and broke my ties with my family to pursue my art and discovered my miracle by burning my work and finding things. I used that miracle to pursue my dreams and enjoyed it,” she took a sip of her tea, “But, after using it for so long, I was diagnosed with art disease and was ready to lay my life. In my times to make amends before giving up, I discovered my knew interest and it was to help people recover.” She laughed, “That’s how I became a doctor.”
“I know it’s hard to let go of the one thing making you happy in life, that one friend that helps you in the toughest of time,” Chiyo said, “That’s why I want to make art disease curable, that’s why I wanted to find you and help you.”
“...I see,” Izuku gave a nervous look.
“You did a good job by separating from your family. Some say that facing those that have hurt you will heal those scars but I also think that putting yourself further away will also heal those scars.” Chiyo smiled and Izuku looked down at his hands, “You jumped over the fence that was blocking you, so I think it’s alright for you to create new memories and meet new people.”
Izuku always thought he was a coward for running away.
“But...” Chiyo interrupted Izuku’s thoughts, “You haven’t said anything about the family’s designated doctor.”
“Ah...” Izuku flushed and looked away, “I’m a bit embarassed to say this but...” he began telling the story, “I was seventeen when I met Shindo...and he was my first ever love. I wanted to know more about him and tried to meet him whenever he came to visit.” Izuku gave another sad look, “It was the first time I felt warmth from someone,” he sighed, “But of course, it was all my misunderstanding.” Izuku took a sip of his tea, “He was the doctor meant for Tooru and his only care was for my younger sibling who is always sick.”
“I came to realize this when I was in the library one day with my little sister,” Izuku spoke, “She was complaining about not being able to go outside as usual, because Shindo had told her not to so she was playing around with me.” Izuku sighed, “I hate to admit it but I was jealous of my sister for having such a warm person by her side,” he continued, “She happened to have bumped into the shelf in the library and things began to fall,” Izuku looked at the scar on his hand, “I managed to stop the fall and push Tooru out of the way,” he smiled, “Shindo arrived and scolded me for not considering Tooru’s health and got angry at me. He carried Tooru away and I waited for him to come help me with my injuries but he never came...” Izuku put down his tea cup, “I handled the injuries on my own and cleaned up the library. I was scolded by my parents later after Shindo told on me and I couldn’t fight back.”
Chiyo was silent. ‘That boy, I told him not to treat his patients like his dead younger sister and to treat them equally but to think it was that bad.’ She seemed angry.
Izuku touched the scar on his hand, “That’s why I was determined to see someone else,” he spoke, “I understood that, just like my parents, Tooru would take priority and Shindo would be silent about my art disease to not hurt Tooru.”
There was silence.
Outside of the room, Katsuki stood by the door, his face dark and the air around him was menacing.
Just earlier he was deep in thought about why Izuku’s expression changed when talking about artist’s disease. It seems to be a sore subject for him. If he could just be honest and get it off his chest, it would be good for him.
“...I was slapped by my mother, then...” Katsuki suddenly heard Izuku’s voice. He usually doesn’t eavesdrop but he became curious and listened to Izuku’s story carefully.
He became to understand why he smiled the way he did, the way he looks around excitedly, and the reason why he frustrates Katsuki is all because everyone in Izuku’s life has been a wall that stopped him from doing anything. Katsuki remembered what Izuku said when he got off the carriage.
‘If it’s alright with you...invite me out again.’
Katsuki smirked and muttered, “Alright...I’ll grant that wish over and over again.”
--
Izuku sat in his room staring at the sketch of the hertha he drew. All he needed to do was finish painting it and he could use his miracle. He felt like he was missing something as he stared at the sketch.
The only reason he wanted to use his miracle is because he wanted to help Katsuki. He felt so bad for the Alpha to take care of him. He was worried about Izuku and offered him his time. If there was something Izuku could do, he would do it.
He stared at his supplies and sighed. He might have to ask Katsuki for some more supplies. He really didn’t want to because he’s a Count’s son, so he shouldn’t rely on Katsuki for money. The Omega got up and walked around the room, noticing the shining stone that Katsuki gave him. He put it in his hands and felt the warmth. He felt a little better just by holding the stone and smiled.
‘It’s like magic,’ he thought.
Izuku fell asleep feeling more refreshed than normal. He decided he was going to ask Katsuki if he could go to the town to buy his supplies.
What he didn’t expect was Katsuki tagging along with him. Izuku felt more of a burden.
“Y-You didn’t have to come along...” Izuku said. The carriage was quiet. “I could have gone on my own.”
Katsuki growled, “Yesterday, you couldn’t go to the temple due to reasons, you couldn’t get your winter clothes fitted, and you’ve been sleeping late.” He sighed, “Now that it’s mentioned, you weren’t up until dawn today.”
“Huh?” Izuku tilted his head.
“I couldn’t feel your stares in the morning while I was practicing,” Katsuki explained.
“...I slept late because I was drawing,” Izuku clasped his hands together.
“Do you have enough art supplies?”
“Oh, I have a pencil!” Izuku really didn’t want to be more of a burden but based on Katsuki’s unamused face, he was certain that the Alpha caught on.
“We don’t have high quality products in the North so I’m not sure if we’ll find what you need.” Katsuki sighed.
“Ah, I don’t need anything high quality,” Izuku smiled. Even at the Count’s estate, he always got the cheapest brand because he didn’t want his father to be alerted.
Katsuki stared at Izuku for a bit before speaking, “Are you feeling okay? If you get tired, let me know.”
“And if I tell you?” Izuku nervously laughed.
Katsuki’s voice darkened, “Then we’ll go straight home. I can’t believe I have to explain that.”
Izuku looked away and laughed internally. He slept well the night before so he should be fine.
“...You’re quite lucky,” Katsuki suddenly said. They were nearing the town.
“Eh?” Izuku looked back at Katsuki who had his arms crossed over his chest.
“A doctor well-versed in your condition is here and a...” Katsuki paused for a second, trying to think of something, “...Friend is coming to also help out.”
“Friend?” Izuku asked, curious. He didn’t know that Katsuki had friends. The carriage came to a halt and Katsuki was first to exit the carriage and offer his hand. Izuku took it and got off the carriage.
“Todoroki’s family head. He’s interested in finding those with talents.” Katsuki smirked, “I sent your sketch to him.” Katsuki led the way to a store but Izuku was too shocked by his words that he wasn’t paying attention.
“Eh?! You sent him that?! Izuku exclaimed. They entered the store and were greeted by an attendant.
“He’s quite knowledgeable about artist’s disease, so he may be of some help,” Katsuki said before turning to the attendant and explained that they were here to get some winter clothes for Izuku.
Izuku was flabbergasted.
“How can you send that to the head of the Todoroki family?!” Izuku’s voice shook.
“Is there a problem?” Katsuki raised his brow, taking Izuku’s arm in his aas the attendent led them inside.
“Such a low quality drawing...” Izuku sighed.
“What’s so embarrassing about your drawing?” Katsuki turned to Izuku.
“It’s just an artist’s self-deprecation,” Izuku said, “It’s like reading someone’s diary.”
They stopped momentarily as the attendant called for someone.
“A diary...I apologize, I didn’t think that far,” Katsuki actually looked remorseful.
The person arrived and greeted the pair.
“Welcome Duke Bakugou, I have been waiting for you,” the person greeted and bowed politely.
“Izuku, this is the owner of the chiffon boutique,” Katsuki introduced.
“Ah, I’m Izuku Midoriya but instead of calling me Sir Midoriya, please call me Izuku,” the Omega smiled.
The owner smiled kindly, “Of course, Izuku. Please speak informally, I’m only a commoner.”
Katsuki cleared his throat and began to speak, “I would like to see some winter clothes, casual clothes, and some clothes he can work in.”
“T-That many...!” Izuku exclaimed.
“What work can you do in those uncomfortable clothes?” Katsuki teased.
“I’m okay with no specific clothing!” Izuku argued.
The owner couldn’t help but smile at the cute couple.
Katsuki ignored Izuku’s words and requested the most expensive cothes. Izuku clung onto Katsuki’s sleeve and pulled it, looking up at the Alpha innocently, “Katsuki! I’m alright!” he whimpered.
Katsuki looked at the hand that gripped him and he smiled, “Pick out as many as you like.”
Izuku was pulled away and was waiting for his sizes to be taken. He felt guilty because he wouldn’t be wearing all the clothes, he just didn’t have that much time. He wasn’t paying attention and glanced at Katsuki who was sitting on the couch, staring right at Izuku. The Omega quickly looked away, his face heating up.
‘W-What should I do?!’ he panicked, internally.
Time had passed and Izuku was exhausted. He had visited boutiques before but they were never as detailed about their questions. The clothes that matched his size were all set out and Izuku was already overwhelmed.
“Izuku,” Katsuki said and it startled Izuku when he felt a cool hand on his forehead, “Are you alright?”
Izuku melted, enjoying the cool hand on his head. He came to his senses quickly and gasped. “Ahhhh, I’m sorry, your hand was cool and I just-” he whimpered. Katsuki seemed shocked.
“Do you perhaps have a fever?” Katsuki looked worried, “We should return home.”
“No, no,” Izuku freaked out, “This is just my first time experiencing something like this, so I’m a little exhausted.” Izuku was too embarrassed about everything. Katsuki chuckled softly.
“Alright, were there any clothes that you liked?” Katsuki laughed, giving into Izuku’s antics.
“Um...” Izuku flushed, “All the clothes that you picked were all beautiful.”
Katsuki raised a brow and smirked, “Really? All of them?”
Izuku gave a suspicious look, “Yes? Katsuki?”
Katsuki followed Izuku as he pouted through the town. He was a little worried that Izuku was upset at him.
“Why are you pouting? I’m the one buying it, so it’s fine.” Katsuki said.
“I didn’t need all of them,” Izuku sighed, “’I’ll buy all of them’, that was the first time I heard that.”
Katsuki snorted. “If you think so, just think of it as an apology for showing your art to Duke Todoroki.”
Izuku let out a breath of relief. ‘Really...I won’t be able to wear them all.’ Izuku smiled sadly.
Katsuki confidently stood, “If you have them, you can keep wearing them.”
Izuku looked at the Alpha and held his smile. He couldn’t help this pain in his heart. Katsuki is too kind to do this. If he continues being this kind, Izuku will only be filled with regret.
‘How can I help you?’ Izuku thought.
“Izuku? Are you alright?” Katsuki asked, leaning down to meet Izuku’s eyes.
Izuku flushed, “Y-Yes!”
“The place that was suggested is nearby, we’ll take a look then return to the estate,” Katsuki said. Izuku glanced at Katsuki’s hand. “Are you listening, Izuku?”
Izuku walked closer to Katsuki’s side. He slipped his hand into Katsuki’s.
Katsuki smirked, “Let’s head off now before it gets late.” He grabbed Izuku’s hand and they walked hand-in-hand.
When they arrived at the art store, Izuku immediately let go of Katsuki’s hand.
“Ahhhh, the smell of paint!” Izuku looked dazed.
Katsuki looked at his hand and felt something off. He didn’t expect Izuku to let go so easily.
The owner of the store approached. He looked disheveled and annoyed when he saw the pair. He had only one arm.
“Judging by your looks, you both don’t belong here,” he said, “What brings you here?”
Izuku’s eyes sparkled, “Can I take a look at your painting supplies?!” He asked, excitedly.
The owner sighed, “There are no high quality painting supplies for you here, Sir.”
Katsuki growled, glaring at the owner, “Do you not want to sell us anything?!”
Izuku stopped the Alpha and spoke up, “I don’t need high quality. I only need paints and a flat brush.”
That was when the owner noticed Izuku’s hands. “...May I look at your hands?” he asked.
Katsuki growled, about to argue but Izuku smiled and offered his hand. The owner touched Izuku’s hands, feeling the roughness. “It looks like you’ve drawn your fair share,” he commented. He sighed and scratched the back of his head, “I just wanted to see if you were just painting for fun.” He moved away, “Please take a look at the paint supplies there, everything is on sale.”
Izuku excitedly shrieked and ran to the art supplies. While Izuku roamed about the owner cleared his throat. “I apologize to the young sir’s lover, I just can tell if someone is painter by looking at their hands.”
Katsuki pinched the bridge of his nose, “...We’re not in that kind of relationship...”
“Oh, I see, well does he have his own atelier? He seems to take painting seriously.”
Katsuki hummed, “I was thinking of making a room for him. Can you take out the supplies for one? I’ll pay no matter the cost.”
“I have the basic things on hand.”
Katsuki stared at the owner’s unused sleeve. “...You have art disease...” he muttered.
The owner hummed, “Yeah, I was a painter and I began to lose sensation in my fingers.” He looked at his left hand with a sad smile, “I tried to change it with my left hand, but the same thing kept happening.” He sighed, “However, after I moved North, the pain and heat started to subside.”
Katsuki perked up at that. He was about to ask something but Izuku appeared.
“Katsuki! I picked out what I needed!” He only held some stuff, a few bottles of paint and a brush. Katsuki looked at it and seemed dissatisfied.
“Is that all you need?” he asked.
“Yup!” Izuku didn’t need anymore or else he would be tight on money.
“...Alright,” Katsuki sighed, “Owner, pack these up and add the other items, I’ll be purchasing them all and picking them up in a few days.”
“Eh? What stuff?” Izuku asked.
Katsuki grinned, “I’m building you an atelier, we don’t have one at the estate.”
Izuku gasped, “Katsuki! I don’t-” Suddenly, he felt a piercing pain in his heart and collapsed to the floor. He could hear Katsuki calling out to him but the heat and his heart felt like it was going to burst. He couldn’t breath, everything felt too stuffy.
He collapsed and passed out from the pain, darkness taking over.
--
Izuku woke up to feeling a familiar hand on his head. He opened his eyes and called out, “Katsuki?”
He looked over and saw Katsuki who looked exhausted. Izuku was in his bed. He realiized that he collapsed.
“Have you regained consciousness?” Katsuki let out a sigh of relief.
“Yes, I’m fine,” Izuku responded, “I just couldn’t breathe properly.”
“I had Chiyo take a look at you, she said it was because you were exhausted.” Katsuki glared at Izuku. There was a silent conversation where Katsuki was scolding Izuku for not telling him.
“Ah...it’s because I don’t sleep well at night.” Izuku looked away and smiled. He could feel Katsuki’s gaze on him.
“Izuku, are you really going to be like this?” Katsuki sighed.
“Yes?” Izuku asked.
“When you lie, you look away and smile.” Katsuki stated, “Just like what you did.”
Izuku covered his face in shame, “...Can’t you overlook this?” He whined.
“I can’t,” Katsuki smiled, “If I look away, you’re going to faint.”
Izuku felt guilt pierce through him. “Katsuki...”
“Yes?”
“Can you only be slightly kind to me?” Izuku stopped covering his face. “It will be too hard to part ways if you’re too kind.”
There was silence between the two. Nothing was said.
Katsuki didn’t let Izuku leave his bed for three days.
--
The knights that watched the gates of the North kept an eye out for any carriages or wagons. They were ordered by Duke Bakugou to give way to Duke Todoroki’s carriage as this was the last time they would be able to open the gates.
A knight watched the roads and noticed a white carriage and recognized it immediately.
“Open the gates! Duke Todoroki has arrived!” he called and the gates were opened.
Duke Todoroki has arrived.
--
Izuku finally was able to get out bed after three days. He was putting the final touches to his hetha painting and his eyes started to change color to gold. The Miracle began and his creation slowly stepped out of the painting. Izuku became startled.
“W-Wait...” He started to panic as the creature step out and broke through the floor, “It’s too big...”
The estate started to tremble and everyone beegan to notice. Katsuki went to check on Izuku.
“Oi, Izuku, is everything good? The entire estate is shaking...” Katsuki entered Izuku’s room and became startled at what he saw.
Izuku turned to Katsuki, nervous. “A-Ah...”
“Izuku, get behind me...” Katsuki growled when he saw the hertha and drew out his sword.
“Wait, Katsuki!” Izuku exclaimed, hugging the hetha, “This child is okay!”
Katsuki noticed Izuku’s eyes and stared at them, bewildered, “Izuku...your eyes...”
“Ah,” Izuku looked away covering his face, “S-Sorry, it must be unsightly.”
“No, it really suits you...” Katsuki said, honestly.
Izuku flushed. He didn’t expect that.
They stayed silent for a moment before the hertha made noise that caught their attention.
“...Let’s move the hertha to a bigger place...” Katsuki said and Izuku looked at all the damage made.
“...I’ll make it up to you, Katsuki...” Izuku said.
They moved the Hertha to the training grounds. Izuku was patting the beast while the knights nervously looked.
“Izuku...how come you’re so calm?” Katsuki asked.
“Ah...” Izuku looked at the Hertha and placed his forehead on the beast’s head, “I can feel this child’s heart and hear its feelings,” he smiled.
Katsuki narrowed his eyes, a vein popping out of his head, “You...used your miracle for what?” he growled, “If I recall, you become more sick the more you use it.”
Izuku swallowed thickly but continued to smile. “I just wanted to help Katsuki.” He walked toward the Alpha, “Wouldn’t the subjugation be quicker if you knew the beast’s weakness?”
Katsuki looked furious, “Izuku...I didn’t ask for your help, I don’t need it.”
Izuku felt a pain in his heart, “But wouldn’t it be better?”
“If it harms you, then I don’t need it.” Katsuki argued.
Izuku still smiled he walked away from the Alpha, “But Katsuki...until winter ends, let me help you...” he turned to the Alpha who scowled at him, “In return, I want you to hold me tight.”
Katsuki stayed silent. Izuku thought he was asking too much. He just wanted the warmth of the Alpha that he had been exposed to. If he gets that, then he would die happily.
“Then...how about just the hand?” Izuku asked and Katsuki sighed.
“Alright, I’ll promise to hold you, but!” Katsuki lifted his finger, “I don’t need you to help me, if it risks your health, there’s no need.”
Izuku smiled. He was hurt by the fact that Katsuki wouldn’t let him help but he was fine with the promise.
“Sir!” The butler rushed to approach the Duke, “Duke Todoroki has arrived!”
“Fucking finally,” Katsuki gave a sigh of relief, he turned to Izuku and motioned to follow.
They walked to Katsuki’s office where someone was sitting on the chair. The person got up and Izuku was shocked at how tall the person was. But what stood out more was how gorgeous he was.
“I was about to leave,” the man spoke.
Katsuki clicked his tongue, “You know I would come.”
“I was happy that my friend sent me a letter,” the person smiled. But it seemed to have pissed off Katsuki even more.
“Fucking....” Katsuki stopped talking.
All eyes went to Izuku who was shuffling nervously. The stranger approached the Omega with a smile.
“Shoto Todoroki,” he introduced himself, “I have heard so much about you, Izuku Midoriya.” He offered his hand but before Izuku could take it, Katsuki stepped in and grabbed Shoto’s hand, glaring at the other Alpha. “Ah, you have such rough hands, Bakugou.”
“Shut up,” Katsuki growled.
‘Are they really friends?’ Izuku wondered.
The trio sat down and began discussing the recent events.
“So, Izuku made a magical beast just by looking at it once and brought it to life?” Shoto asked and Katsuki nodded. “That seems to mean that he has the miracle of creation.”
Katsuki narrowed his eyes, “...Explain.”
“Well, the Miracle of Creation is the most rare and most powerful power,” Shoto began explaining, “Creating things that exist and things that don’t exist, even just creating people,” Shoto stared at Izuku, “It’s the closest power to God.”
Izuku smiled.
“But why a magical beast?” Shoto asked.
Izuku opened his mouth, “To make it easier for the subjucation to go smoothly.”
‘So it was for Bakugou...’ Shoto sipped his tea.
Shoto looked at Izuku and felt a sudden nervousness. Now that he could see Izuku he can tell that the Omega was dying. He watched as Izuku smiled at an annoyed Katsuki and they had their small conversation. He wondered if Katsuki knew.
Shoto placed his tea down, “Before we talk more about artist’s disease, Izuku I have something for you.” He pulled out a letter that had the Midoriya emblem stamped on it. Izuku froze on the spot, eyes wide. He started panting and Katsuki held the Omega’s hand.
Izuku started thinking about how his father scolded him. All he could hear is his name being said in resentment.
“Izuku, it’s okay, I’m right beside you now,” Katsuki said. “We can get rid of the letter if you don’t want to read it.” Katsuki turned to Shoto, “We can also throw this bastard out for doing something pointless.”
Izuku relaxed, taking a deep breath, “No...it’s okay,” he held Katsuki’s hand, “I have to read it to get it over with, though I know the contents.”
Izuku opened up the letter and began reading.
‘I heard the news that you are in the North,’ it began, ‘To act so fearlessly, what are you doing? It doesn’t matter if you’re engaged, do you know that this will lead to baseless rumors?’
Izuku sighed. As always, he only cared about the family honor.
‘If you had any complaints, you should have said them. Did you have to create such chaos in the household?’
Izuku wondered when his parents ever listened to what he had to say.
‘Tooru’s condition has worsened because she barely sleeps worrying about you. You’re the older brother but you are causing such an inconvenience.’
Izuku was dying. Tooru was not. Was her condition so bad that he only considered her and not his own?
‘I will make up a brief story so stop bringing shame to the family f you don’t want to be kicked out.’
Izuku stared at the words and silently got up. His face was devoid of emotions.
“Izuku?” Katsuki called out as he watched Izuku walk toward the fireplace and threw the letter in.
‘In the end, Father did not recognize that I am sick,’ Izuku thought, ‘But then again, if he admitted it, then...’ Izuku sighed, “It’ll become troublesome for him.” Izuku said aloud as he watched the paper burn.
“Izuku...?” Shoto asked, looking concerned.
Both Alphas started to ask if he was alright. Izuku came to his senses.
“Ah sorry, was it wrong to throw away the letter here?” Izuku asked, turning to Katsuki.
“No, it’s alright,” Katsuki sighed.
“Sorry, the contents of the letter were so obvious...” Izuku smiled. Suddenly, he felt the Hertha calling him, feeling a pain in his chest. Katsuki called out to him. “Katsuki...the hertha...”
Shoto approached, “The creation and Izuku seem to be connected, let’s go see what’s going on.”
The trio arrive to see the hertha freaking out. The knights all assembled and Katsuki grabbed Izuku by the waist, holding him close and drawing out his sword.
“Wait, there must be a reason for the child to act this way, I can figure it out!” Izuku exclaimed.
Katsuki glared at the knights, “I told you to leave it alone!” he growled, already understanding that the hertha was intimidated.
“S-Sorry,” the knights responded.
“It’s okay, I’ll figure out how to calm it down,” Izuku smiled. Katsuki looked at Izuku and was about to say something but Shoto interrupted.
“Since I know more about miracles, I can be of assistance,” Shoto said and Izuku and Katsuki turned to him. Katsuki looked pissed. Shoto ignored him and turned to Izuku. “How long do your creations last, Izuku?”
“Uh, about a few hours or a day, at most,” Izuku responded.
“Oh good, then you can recall it if you call to it,” Shoto smiled. Izuku nodded, understanding the situation.
Katsuki ordered the knights to step away from the hertha and whispered something to Izuku. The Omega’s heart thumped and his face heated up. Everyone backed away and Izuku approached his creation. He kept what Katsuki told him to his heart as he grabbed the Hertha’s face.
He smiled.
‘Izuku, do what makes you feel at ease,’ Izuku hugged the hertha, ‘Since I will protect you no matter what.’
--
The damages made to the estate were slowly being fixed. Katsuki had been busy dealing with that while Izuku came to terms with his family.
The kindness that he has received has shown him the path he could walk. He didn’t have to compare his talents with anyone because there is somene who would tell him that he was doing amazing. Izuku learned that he didn’t have to hide his pain anymore because there would be people who listen. Because even if he was in pain, there would be a person to listen.
Izuku learned that he deserved to be loved.
Izuku sighed as he finished up writing his only and final letter to his father.
“Izuku, what are you doing that you don’t answer when I knock?” Katsuki called out as he entered Izuku’s room. The Omega turned to the Alpha and smiled. Red eyes looked at the letter that Izuku had just finished writing. “...Is this your answer?”
“Yes!” Izuku continued to smile, “I think it’s time to say my farewells.” He looked down, “My parents will curse me, won’t they?”
Katsuki held Izuku’s hand, “Let them be. Kids don’t choose their parents. It’s their choice to have kids and those kids are just stuck with them.” Izuku looked at Katsuki, “Because of that, they should be held responsible and they should take it properly. No worrying about money, a warm place to stay, and eat until full. A parent’s responsibility is never over. So, it’s okay to complain, Izuku and if someone does curse at you,” Izuku’s eyes widened, “I’ll be by your side, I’ll never leave your side.”
Izuku smiled brightly, “Thank you, Katsuki.”
“Of course,” Katsuki crossed his arms over his chest and smiled with satisfaction, “If you’re grateful, can you give me a bit of your time?”
Izuku followed Katsuki to the third floor where the doors opened to show a room prepared for Izuku.
“Katsuki, this is...”
“An art studio,” Katsuki scratched the back of his head, “I figured to get you one. Even though it’s not as good as the South, I tried with what we have.”
Izuku looked at the bright room. He recalled his time at the Count’s residence where there wasn’t a proper art studio. Izuku’s room was in the corner of the house and no matter what time of the day it was, it was still dark. It wasn’t ideal conditions to work in.
Izuku gave a bright smile. He walked through the room and touched the canvas. Such an extravagant wish for someone who was not going to live for much longer.
“I don’t know how to repay you, Katsuki,” Izuku said.
“It’s a present, Izuku,” Katsuki spoke, “I don’t need anything in return.”
“But, all this for someone who’s only supposed to be here for half a year?”
Katsuki stared at Izuku, “You already did enough with the Hertha.” Izuku swallowed thickly. That was correct, the damages that the hertha made, Katsuki was paying for all of the repairs. “Besides, you don’t have to stay here for half a year,” Katsuki said, “You can stay for longer than that. Even if you have to return to the Countdom, this will always be your studio.”
Izuku had always dreamed of having his own art studio. A place where he could enjoy the one thing that makes him happy. Out of any gift, this was the most priceless one. So, why does it hurt his chest?
Izuku hasn’t forgotten that he and Katsuki agreed to annul their engagement.
“I can’t keep coming and going, Katsuki,” Izuku looked at the Alpha who’s eyes widened, “You’ll find someone new, there’s no way I could ruin your reputation.”
“...What? Someone new?” Katsuki looked confused. Izuku only smiled.
“Even if they’re just words, thank you so much, Katsuki.”
Katsuki frowned. He grit his teeth and caved. “...If you need anything, let me know.” He left the room, unable to say anything else. Katsuki didn’t know when he had started to think about Izuku all the time. He worries for him and wonders if he’s going to be alright. He hated the idea that Izuku was going to be leaving soon and wished their time together would increase. From Izuku’s perspective, it was obvious that he would push his boundaries because they were both forced into the engagement, but Katsuki was slowly starting to think that it was alright.
“What are you thinking about?” a voice that suddenly pissed of Katsuki was heard and broke Katsuki’s thought.
“The fuck are you doing here?” Katsuki grumbled.
“I’m here to see Izuku, I asked Chiyo some things and just want to confirm.” Shoto spoke.
“About artist disease?”
“Yeah.”
Katsuki sighed and patted Shoto’s shoulder. It surprised the taller Alpha. “Take care of him.”
Shoto was at a loss of words and wondered if Katsuki’s heart was slowly changing. He nodded and walked toward where Izuku was.
“Izuku? Are you here?” Shoto called out. Izuku was mulling over the words he said to Katsuki.
Izuku responded, “Y-Yes!”
Shoto entered the room with a serious look on his face. Izuku becme nervous.
“Let’s sit down and discuss your disease.”
Izuku was nervous as Shoto explained that he had asked Chiyo about his condition. Izuku wondered if the doctor had said everything.
“To be fair, I already knew,” Shoto said, and Izuku looked at the Alpha, “Those with your miracle always had their life as collateral.” Izuku swallowed thickly, gripping his pants. “Izuku, I want to help you,” Shoto began, “But I need you to understand that my family has a history of collecting people with talents like yours and because of that we have written down the histories of those who also had similar miracles to yours.” Izuku but his bottom lip. “Most people with your ability were driven to madness to the point the only thing they could think of was there art and using whatever means necessary to bring their art to life, including using their blood and body.” Shoto took a sip of his tea, “They held nothing to them except their paintings.” Shoto eyed the nervous Izuku. “As I said, I want to help you, Izuku,” Shoto put his tea down, “And in order to do that, I need you to open up to me and tell me if you have any of these symptoms, okay?”
Izuku nodded.
“Besides madness, did you feel an increase in sensitivity and emotions?” Izuku gulped. “Furthermore, it is said that those with the miracle become hypnotized with what they paint and that their creations were the only things that understood them which is why they become attached to the one thing that understood them.”
Izuku clenched his hands together. “Everything is correct.”
Shoto’s eyes widened. There was a moment of silence but Shoto smiled.
“I’m not here to scold you. I am the same with my music. I used to play so much that my parents would come to see,” he said, “It’s not your fault, you had no one else beside you.”
Izuku smiled, relaxing a little.
“Do you have plans of ever presenting your works?” Shoto asked.
“No...I just like painting is all,” Izuku responded.
“Then, can I ask a favor?” Shoto smiled and Izuku tilted his head.
“What is it?”
“I want to see your paintings. To be precise, I want to see you using your powers,” Shoto smiled.
“Oh, if that’s so then I was planning to drop a letter off at the Countdom, so why don’t I paint you the doors.” Izuku said.
Izuku stood at the large canvas and took a deep breath. Shoto silently watched.
“I’m going to do this quickly.” Is all he said and began.
Izuku was always good at memorizing things especially if he’s looked at it long enough and freely painted the doors with no issues. Shoto watched in amazement. The strokes, the confidence, the precision. Out of anyone, Izuku’s skills were the best of the best.
Izuku panted, his chest feeling stuffy. He struggled to paint when he suddenly heard a beautiful note being played by a violin. Izuku turned to see Shoto playing his instrument and suddenly the pain disappeared.
‘So, this is his miracle,’ Izuku thought.
The melody was gorgeous as Izuku continued to paint until completion. His eyes turned to a golden hue once more.
Izuku put his brush down. “Finished.” Izuku smiled, “Shoto...that piece...”
“Izuku,” Shoto’s face turned serious, “I think I might have fallen for you.”
Izuku’s face turn to disbelief, “Pardon?”
“Ah, how was the music?” Shoto changed the subject.
“It was beautiful.” Izuku took a step away from the Alpha.
“I’m glad, I made the piece right on the spot. That’s how beautiful your painting is.” Izuku flushed.
“We can open the door, now.” Izuku said.
The doors opened and Izuku was introduced to his room. Shoto looked curious.
“Is this an unused room in the Count’s estate?” he asked.
“No, this is my room,” Izuku said with no emotion.
“Oh...it doesn’t look like an Omega’s room...” Shoto was blunt.
“Yeah, my sister’s room is more like that since she needs it more.”
“I see.”
Izuku held the letter he had written to his family in his hand. He wondered how he would get through all the servants and his family to send the letter. Suddenly, he heard Shoto speak.
“Cover your ears,” is was he said and Izuku did so.
A song played but Izuku couldn’t hear it well. He looked out the window and started seeing the servants falling to the ground, sound asleep. Izuku was shocked at the ability. It was an amazing ability.
A few moments went by, Izuku walked through the Count’s estate where everyone was asleep.
“Is the letter bidding your family farewell?” Shoto suddenly asked.
Izuku nodded, “It’s that and a statement to not look for me.” He smiled, sadly, “The count would not believe that I’m sick until I’m on my deathbed, he will begin to regret when he sees my cold, dead body.” Izuku laughed, “But soon after, he’ll get angry, asking why I didn’t tell him sooner and until the very end I was being an annoyance to him.”
Shoto gave a sad look.
They continued walking until Izuku noticed Tooru in the hall. He suddenly became worried and approached her sleeping figure. He asked Shoto to help move her to her room. Izuku patted his sister’s head and whispered something to her. They left the room and continued to walk to the Count’s office where Izuku laid his letter right on the desk.
Izuku looked out to the window.
“You know, Shoto,” Izuku said and the Alpha listened, “It’s not as bad as you think. The family acheived happiness and harmony through one’s sacrifice. As the elder brother, I lived for others. But for once I wanted to live on my own terms in my final moments.” Izuku smiled, “So, I want to leave my paintings behind for everyone to remember. Not as Izuku Midoriya but as just Izuku.”
Shoto smiled, “Then I’ll make it happen.”
The two returned back to Katsuki’s estate before anyone woke up. No one was aware of what happened.
--
The Count had left the Estate for some business, when he returned there was a commotion. The staff explained that everyone felt like they had awoken from a nap. Everyone was on the ground and had no idea how much time passed.
“Write a report of what happened,” the count ordered. He was annoyed at what happened and wondered why someone would go through such an effort. He looked at his desk and noticed a letter. “Who sent this letter?” He asked.
The butler shook his head, “There was no letters that came today.”
‘Then who...?’ The Count opened the letter and read the contents, he recognized the handwriting but couldn’t figure out who it was. He read the letter.
‘Count Midoriya, if I start my letter like this, I’m certain you would first think about who this is.’
The Count was surprised at how well the person knew him.
‘I wanted to say so many things if the chance arose but now I find it meaningless.’
“Don’t tell me...” the Count grit his jaw.
‘I am ill. So, there is no reason for me to return to the estate. Please think of this letter as my last greeting.’
“Izuku.”
The letter that was written to the count was cold and harsh.
‘I want to be known as ‘Izuku’, not as ‘Izuku Midoriya’. My art will spread wide to the North and the rest of the Empire.’
It was not a threatening letter.
‘You always told me not to be a hinderance to this family. Up until now, I have always obeyed you . So this time, I will ask of you for a favor.’
The Count’s eyes became dark.
‘Don’t tarnish my name as it spreads far and wide. The long wait is over. Right now, I have a one-sided love with someone whom cares for me. It’s no longer about Tooru or older brother, but a place where I’m the main character.’
There was pain in these words.
‘And words like ‘It’s because I love you’ that are used as shields don’t exist in this world, but scoldings filled with affections.’
“This ungrateful brat!” The count slammed down the letter. He continued reading in anger and his eyes widened.
‘You probably will get angry and call me ungrateful and that I should have told you sooner. But I ask you, did I really not say anything? Was I really the obedient child who never cried to you?’
“Izuku...since when...did you stop crying?” The count said.
‘It’s not that I said anything. It’s just that I gave up. If you want to meet me, please make arrangements to see me in the North as I have no reason to go home anymore. And please prroceed with my funeral arrangements as you see fit.’
The letter ended and the Count furiously threw the letter to the ground.
“Contact the Duke immediately! Tell him to send Izuku back!” The Count yelled.
“The North has closed its borders, however...” the butler looked nervous.
“I don’t care, he’s being affected by the North. An obedient child like that would never talk back!” The Count slammed his hands on his desk.
The butler spoke up, “I really do this that Sir Izuku might be sick...” he proceeded to tell that he had received reports of Izuku being sick in his room. But the count dismissed it saying he was busy and to ignore it as Izuku was old enough to handle himself. The Count was furious at the butler for not reporting it and insisted he should have continued to report it.
Tooru was listening from the outside and covered her mouth. She was certain that what she had experienced earlier was not a dream, then. She remembered her brother’s words, ‘Tooru be well, be healthy always.’ That sweet voice that always took care of her.
“No dad...” Tooru entered the room in tears, “Brother won’t return...”

Since then, Izuku let go all attachments of his past and decided to move forward with being beside Katsuki as much as he could. Because, he had fallen in love with Katsuki. So, the more time he spent with the Alpha, the more happy memories he made.
He only wanted to make happy memories with Katsuki and leave him with those memories. Out of his request, Shoto did not mention to Katsuki about his terminal illness and explained it as such when Katsuki prodded the question to Shoto.
Shoto began researching more into why Izuku’s condition is worsening. His body was deteriorating, according to Chiyo. He couldn’t handle foods and vomited all of it, his seizures were getting worse and he collapses easily.
Shoto didn’t want to think of it, but he’d have to ask Izuku directly.
Chiyo had finished her check up and left the room when Shoto entered. Izuku was laying on bed after falling sick after having tea with Katsuki. He knew right away, that Izuku hid his pain and ran to his room to hide.
Shoto sat beside Izuku on the chair.
“Izuku, can I ask you something?” he said.
“Sure,” the Omega smiled.
“I just wanted to ask because I found this weird but did you know that a lot of people who had the same miracle as you, died much later than you are right now,” Shoto was blunt and straight to the point. Izuku swallowed nervously. “I’m going to ask you so please answer, do you know about the taboos?”
Izuku’s eyes widened and gave a confused look.
“I see, you don’t know,” Shoto sighed. “The taboos are something those with miracles must not do no matter what.” Izuku gripped his arm, “You cannot ressurect the dead, or turn back time to change the past.” Shoto watched Izuku’s reactions, “Next, you must not create humans as that is the job of Gods, not humans.”
Izuku held his hands together, tightly...
“Finally, you cannot use miracles to kill.”
“...What happens if they break a taboo?”
“They either lose their life a part of their body.” Shoto sat up and crossed his arms over his chest, “So, did you break a taboo?”
Izuku swallowed and looked away with a smile, “...No.”
“Then it’s weird for you to have such a high price to pay for your miracles,” Shoto explained, “I need to see if there’s another cause.”
Izuku looked nervous and spoke, “If you know the cause, will it help in making me feel better?”
Shoto blinked, “Well...no. But I figured out a way to delay the progression. Al you have to do is not make the final stroke in your works.”
Izuku thought for a moment. It seems plausible.
“If you send me your unfinished works, then I will fulfill my promise that I will make you the most famous artist.”
Izuku thanked Shoto and the Alpha left with the promise that no matter what happens, he and Katsuki would be by his side.
--
It was late at night and Izuku was writing in his journal. His thoughts shifted into how he could repay Katsuki. He flushed at the thought of offering his body.
Katsuki had to leave for preparations for the subjugation as monsters had been seen roaming the area. He said he would be late and entered Izuku’s room after knocking and thinking he collapsed.
In the end, he watched Izuku stay in his own thoughts, muttering random things. Katsuki couldn’t help but find it cute but he immediately shook away those thoughts. He approached Izuku and spoke to gain his attention.
“Are you feeling better?” Katsuki spoke.
“Katsuki!” Izuku smiled.
“I knocked but as usual, you didn’t hear me,” Katsuki clicked his tongue.
“Sorry, I was deep in thought,” Izuku stood up from his seat, “Have you finished work?”
Katsuki wasn’t actually finished but he just wanted to let Izuku know the plan before he left. He didn’t know why he felt the need to do so, but he felt like he had to.
“No...we’ll be setting out deeper to investigate.” Katsuki sighed.
“Oh...you’re leaving again,” Izuku gave a sad look.
Katsuki decided to change the subject since he hated Izuku looking upset. “I came to check up on you, you seem to have been a bit pale.”
“Oh, yes! Chiyo tended to me.” Izuku smiled.
Katsuki didn’t mention anything about Izuku’s illness as he remembered what Shoto told him about how Izuku doesn’t want him to know.
“If there’s any issues, you need to tell the butler, okay?” he said, in the end.
“Okay! You be safe on your trip, Katsuki!”
“I’ll see you in two days,” Katsuki said.
“Around what time in two days?” Izuku tilted his head innocently.
Katsuki felt guilty as he said by dinner time and noticed the sad look on Izuku’s face then changed it to lunch time. He scolded himself for lying because he knew he would brely make it for lunch. But the smile he received from Izuku was enough to make him determined to be able to do it.
Katsuki had spoke to Shoto about Haron that had helped Izuku feel a little better. Shoto was surprised by the stone and said that maybe a clue. Izuku also said that stone helped him so as Katsuki set off to the deeper parts of the forest he threatened the beasts to give him all the harons they could give.
If it was for Izuku, he would kill as many beasts for him just so he could get better.
--
Izuku wondered around the garden, worried about Katsuki and hoped he returns safely from the investigation.
“Are you sure you should be out in this cold weather?” Izuku turned to the voice to see Chiyo who smiled at Izuku.
Izuku smiled back, “I’m just worried is all. Katsuki said he would return tomorrow but I can’t help to worry so I decided to take a walk.” He explained that he made sure to bundle up and Chiyo seemed satisfied.
“It feels like you’ve changed,” Chiyo noted.
Izuku looked at the doctor and smiled, “Really? I’m glad.”
He had been thinking...the more he made fond memories, the more he’d accept death happily. Because it meant that he stood up for his own life even if it was in his final moments.
“Spring has come for me...” Izuku muttered as he walked through the snow.
--
The carriage came to a halt. The Bakugou’s butler stepped out and offered his hand. Izuku took the butler’s hand and stepped out of the carriage. He wore a heavy blanket as the snow was falling heavily. They were in the outer parts of the northern barrier because Izuku couldn’t wait for Katsuki at the estate. He wanted to see the Alpha as soon as he could.
“I’m sorry for bothering you with this,” Izuku told the butler who smiled.
“It’s not a problem, the knights here are also eagerly waiting for Master’s return, so it’s fine that his guest feels the same,” the butler said.
Izuku smiled but a sudden sound gained the attraction of the Omega and the butler. The knights started to react and check the walls.
“Stay here, Sir,” the butler said, “I’ll check the situation.” Izuku nodded and the butlet left him near the carriage. The sounds became louder and the knights were rushing with their swords.
“A group of hertha have started attacking the walls!” one knight announced and Izuku hid behind the carriage peeking through the window and seeing the choas.
‘It should be fine...’ Izuku thought, ‘They have precautions even if Katsuki isn’t here...’ He felt a sharp pain his chest because he has been fighting a seizure since the start of the day but he was insistent on going to see Katsuki’s return. He calmed down for a moment and took deep breaths.
“Dammit!” another knight cursed, “The lord and Captain aren’t here! The walls might fall!”
Izuku thought of what he could do to help. He knew Katsuki would be there soon. He looked in the carriage and stared at the briefcase he brought with him. It had art supplies that he used on the way to the outer walls. He thought about it for a moment and knew that he had to do something to hold everything before Katsuki arrived.
He didn’t hesitate as a dark feeling overcame him and he reached for his bag. He was certain that he had drew a sketch of the hertha before putting in the last stroke. All he had to do was paint it. He didn’t bring his materials but then he remembered one piece of information Shoto had told him about those with the Miracle of Creation.
‘They used blood and skin as materials.’
Izuku felt a sharp pain in his chest but it didn’t stop him as he bit his lower lip. He had to do it.
As the panic continued, the butler arrived to check the scene.
“Has a message arrived from the master?!” he asked in haste and all the panicking knights stopped for a second.
“Y-Yes, but we weren’t able to respond...” one knight said.
The butler looked out the window at the situation and hesitated, thinking he should take Sir Izuku out of the way and head back. As he was thinking, a loud boom was heard from inside the wall.
“Ah! A hertha is inside the walls!” someone yelled out as a herth burst through the walls. Everyone was shocked as the butler saw the Sir in the hertha’s arms.
“S-Sir!” the butler said in shock.
“Ah, don’t worry about this child,” Izuku stepped down from the hertha, “I wanted to help so I made this child.”
“Even if you say that...” some of the knights hesitated and Izuku smild, turning to his creation.
“Hertha, I have a request,” he patted the beast, “Please chase away the hertha.”
Everyone seemed hesitant but they let the hertha roam free. Izuku smiled away as people watched in amazement as the beast threw the other beasts back.
“Sir Izuku,” the butler looked concerned, “Your hand...”
Izuku looked down at his hand as it was bleeding and Izuku laughed it off saying he was fine. He continued to watch his creation roam and fight back the hertha.
‘Only until Katsuki gets back here,’ Izuku thought.
He suddenly heard a voice, ‘...Kill.’ He heard the voice and turned to ask the butler if he said something. The butler looked at him confused. ‘I will kill and take over.’ The voice spoke more. Izuku looked at the hertha.
“It couldn’t be...” Izuku muttered.
He watched as his creation began to kill. The voice filled his head.
‘If you can’t find it, I will kill you.’
It ate the hertha that were beginning to retreat.
‘It’s not here, I need to eat something else.’
‘Where is it?’
‘...It’s here.’ I found it.’
Izuku rushed over to his creation. Feeling his creation’s reaction, that warm feeling he feels is the same as having the Haron. Izuku approached his creation and stopped it.
“Hertha! Let the others go!” he exclaimed.
‘Master...’ he heard the child’s voice.
The other hertha fled the scene and Izuku thoroughly scolded the child he created.
“What’s this about ‘Master’?!” Izuku pouted and the hertha looked hesitant. “Are you really not going to tell me?!”
Suddenly, the sound of horses could be heard and Izuku’s attention was brushed away.
“Izuku!” he heard a familiar voice call him and Izuku was immediately gathered up in strong arms, protected by a sword.
“K-Katsuki!” Izuku exclaimed.
“Everyone! Get this hertha--”
“Wait! This hertha is mine!” Izuku quickly interrupted.
“...What?” Katsuki glared at the beast. “What are you talking about?”
“It’s the drawing I created,” Izuku said.
“But your eyes are the same as usual?” Katsuki noted and Izuku was surprised.
Everyone calmed down and Katsuki forced everyone to go home. Izuku was forced to suffer in silence as Katsuki glared at him.
There was only one person who could help with the situation.
--
“Sir Todoroki, the master has returned and he would like to meet you,” Shoto was sitting in Katsuki’s office staring at a gold gem. He was curious about it but put it away.
“Hmm,” Shoto walked out of the office and wondered what was going on, he had come to visit Izuku who aske dhim to attend lunch but he wondered why Katsuki wanted to see him. “I wonder what is going...” he paused when he saw a large hertha, a messy Izuku, and an annoyed Katsuki, “...Here.”
Shoto froze at what he was looking at. He sighed and the trio decided to sit down for an explanation.
“Well...” Izuku looked away from the glaring eyes. He knew he was in trouble for breaking his promise to not creating annything and using his miracle but he just wanted to help. “I just wanted to be able to support everyone before the herrtha broke the wall,” he looked at Katsuki, “I’m sorry, I broke the promise but I just wanted to help by the time you got there...”
Katsuki stared at Izuku and sighed, “I’m not mad...if I got there faster then you wouldn’t have to had done anything, so it’s my fault.”
The atmosphere became lighter and Izuku and Katsuki stared at each other for a while, forgetting a certain someone. Shoto sipped his tea loudly which startled the pair.
“You two seem to be getting along,” he smiled and the pair awkwardly looked away from each other. Shoto stopped teasing the two and continued. “Izuku, have you tried to call back the miracle?”
Izuku nodded, “About that...the hertha wasn’t ret--” As he was talking, a splurt of blood escaped his mouth. He was shocked and covered his mouth. He didn’t feel any pain but his head began hurting and he collapsed.
He heard the passing concerns of everyone calling out to him. The servants rushed to get the doctors and Izuku was carried to his room. Katsuki stayed beside him the entire time.
“Are you in pain, Izuku?” there was panic and concern in Katsuki’s voice.
Izuku was breathing heavily. He continued to spit out blood and felt like his heart was going to explode. He was in so much pain but he was just very scared.
“Am I going to die?” Izuku cried, looking at Katsuki, “I don’t want to die...” his face and shirt was covered in blood.
“You’re not going to die...” Katsuki said, “I won’t let you die. The doctor is coming.” Katsuki called out to everyone in the chaos and wondered where Chiyo was, he sent Shoto to grab her. “Izuku, are you in pain?” he asked again. It was obvious that he looked like it hurt. “Tell me, don’t suffer on your own.”
Izuku sobbed loudly, “It hurts, Katsuki,” he gripped to the Alpha’s suit, “It hurts so much,” his voice shook, “My heart feels like it’s going to burst.”
He sobbed and cried until his body felt weak and his arm fell to his side. Katsuki’s eyes widened as Izuku’s breath became hoarse.
“Izuku?” Katsuki called out, “Oi, Izuku, wake up!”
That was when Shoto burst into the room with Chiyo.
“Bakugou! Give him this!” The other Alpha passed over the Haron and Katsuki didn’t hesitate to use it. He placed the stone on Izuku’s chest as it glowed and Izuku’s breathing relaxed.
“Hold it, Izuku,” Katsuki said in a gentle voice as the Omega woke up but still struggled to move. He clasped the haron in his hand and closed his eyes again. His complexion started to get better and Chiyo finally said that she would take over.
“Bakugou, outside for a moment...” Shoto said and Katsuki nodded.
“Todoroki, could the reason for Izuku’s seizures be because of the hertha?” Katsuki asked when they closed the door of Izuku’s room.
“It seems to be,” Shoto responded, “Since there is a price to pay for miracles.” He sighed, “It seems that it takes a lot of life force to create the hertha.”
Katsuki growled, “Doesn’t that mean we need to kill that thing?!” he started dtomping toward the beast and was stopped by Shoto.
“Wait, it’s too late, the creation already exists and it’s out of Izuku’s control.” he explained.
Katsuki clenched his fists in frustration, “To think that Izuku is in so much pain and I can’t do anything...”
Shoto smiled, “That’s not true...” That caught Katsuki’s attention and he roe his brow, “You see, I tested the haron before coming here to see if there was any reaction to my miracle. And based on what we just saw, Izuku’s condition stabalized because of the haron.”
“...What are you saying? The haron has something to do with curing Izuku’s condition.”
Shoto nodded, “Exactly,” he smiled, “And I have another assumption regarding Izuku’s hertha. According to the onlookers, they reported that the hertha ate its own kind.”
“Wait, that hertha?!” Katsuki was shocked, “It not only ate the corpse but you suspect it ate a haron?”
“That’s right, it might be the reason why Izuku lost control of the hertha.” Shoto pointed out.
“This is the first time your nonsense is hopeful,” Katsuki commented.
“It’s just a suspicion, but I need more haron to prove it,” Shoto let the comment slip over his head.
“How many more do you need?”
“As many as you can get.”
Katsuki grinned wildly. Winter would hit soon and all the hungry monsters will descend the mountain which will lead the demon subjugation to be in full swing. Based on the size of monsters, the size of the harons would vary and the Alpha planned on hunting all the biggest ones.
“I’ll be sure to kill them and bring it back,” Katsuki grinned, “For Izuku.”
