My father has suffered from heart and colon problems for years. His condition is deteriorating due to the lack of medication and the difficulty of accessing appropriate treatment. The pain never leaves him, and sometimes he cries silently so we don’t grieve for him, and these reports prove that.

My mother suffers from heart disease and diabetes and is in constant need of medication and healthcare, and these reports prove that.

We have been through many wars before, but this war was not like the ones before it. Our lives were turned upside down. We became displaced from one place to another. We are the Anas family, residents of northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujaiya area. In the first week of the war, we fled our home because everyone considered our home to be in a dangerous area. We moved to the Rimal area, specifically in the middle of Gaza. There, we received the news that our home, which contained all our beautiful memories, was bombed. Suddenly, it was gone!!! Just thinking that your home, which you worked hard on and built from scratch and took a lot of your life, was gone in less than a second ! After a while, we left the sands to the Al-Zawaida area because of the heavy shelling. We stayed there for about two weeks, and then the terrorist army asked us to go to Rafah. We actually fled for the fourth time to Rafah and stayed there for two months, some of the most difficult days of our lives, as there was no way or means to live a normal life. 😔😔 After that, because of the invasion of Rafah, we moved to Deir al-Balah. Now, we are in very difficult and oppressive circumstances.

What is happening here is not just news broadcasted in the media; it is a lived reality in all its details, affecting the lives of millions.

**Daily Human Suffering**

It has been five consecutive days since the Israeli occupation forces closed the borders, a move that places us in a state of food insecurity. We live under the weight of the blockade, where food prices are rising unprecedentedly, and the ability to provide a meal for our children is a daily challenge. In this blessed month of Ramadan, we hope to be able to provide enough food to break our fast, but the reality confirms that many families cannot even meet the minimum nutritional needs.

Imagine, our children waiting eagerly for iftar, yet there is nothing to offer them. Seeing their innocent eyes searching for food while we are unable to provide it is a heartbreaking scene that ignites pain in our hearts. They also have to walk long distances to fill water while fasting, only to find that the water is not clean.

**Health and Psychological Consequences**

The situation does not stop there; the hunger that our children experience affects not only their bodies but also their mental health. Children who should be living their childhoods innocently and joyfully find themselves facing the harshness of life, leading to depression and anxiety. We see how their smiles turn into sad expressions and how their dreams fade in the face of a grim reality.

Moreover, the health situation in Gaza is deteriorating due to a shortage of medicines and medical supplies. At a time when families need good healthcare, we find hospitals suffering from severe resource shortages, many of which have been destroyed, putting thousands of lives at risk.

**Living in Tents**

In these harsh conditions, we live in torn tents that provide no protection from the winter cold or summer heat. During rainy days, our tents turn into pools of water, exacerbating our suffering and exposing us to significant health risks. We face daily challenges in securing a safe shelter for our families, living in constant anxiety about how to provide a place for our children to seek refuge.

**A Call for Support**

A Plea for Help from Gaza: A Family Seeking Safety

My name is Sara and I live in Wisconsin, USA and I am fundraising for my friend, Maryam and her family who are living in Gaza, Palestine. Maryam and her husband, Alaa, are young parents to a baby boy who was born amidst the atrocities occurring there. This fundraiser is set up to accumulate funds for day-to-day survival, as well as a hope to raise enough funds to leave the country in pursuit of safety, if and when the border reopens.

Baby Muhammad has only known Palestine as a war zone and although his parents are doing everything they can to provide for him and to keep him safe, basic necessities like food, water, and diapers are exorbitantly priced, not to mention scarce. The ultimate goal is to raise enough funds to be able to leave through the Rafah border crossing, but unfortunately, the border crossing has been destroyed due to nearly a year of bombing, so no families have been able to get in or out of Gaza for the past several months. This bombing also makes it very difficult for aid to get in to help the refugees who are still in Gaza like Maryam, Alaa, and Muhammad.

The Gaza Strip is a very small section of land in occupied Palestine with more than 2 million residents packed into a space only about the size of Las Vegas, Nevada. The space that Palestinians are allowed to occupy is shrinking daily as the Israeli occupational forces are destroying land and homes while also decreasing the size of the “safe zones”. The reason I put safe zones in quotations is because it has never truly meant “safe.” The Israeli air strikes happen everywhere, even in places where Palestinians are promised is safe.

I urge you to assess this situation as though this young family of three are your neighbors, or your cousins, or friends of a family member. These are people who are dreaming of their survival. The Palestinians are some of the most peaceful and good-hearted people on this planet, who have a true zest for life and only want to see their children grow up in a world where fear isn’t the primary emotion being experienced.

I have been in consistent communication with Maryam and devised a plan to transfer funds from GoFundMe to Maryam and Alaa directly, through the bank of Gaza.

This is my whole story. We live a very painful life. Please be by my side so we can get through this pain together.
