1.1M views · 8K comments | Chicken Wings | Today William my grandson will cook chicken wings for me. He did a wonderful job and they were absolutely delicious. We also had boiled potatoes with all... | By Cooking with Brenda Gantt | Y'all. My grandchildren are here. Two of them. William is going to fix us some chicken fingers. Not chicken fingers. Chicken wings. Chicken wings for lunch. And so he's over here cutting them and fixing them. I want y'all to look at him. Yes y'all. He's working. Tell them what you're doing William. I'm cutting off this end right here. Cuz it's just skin and bone. Right. And you're not really going to get nothing out of it and so we won't just show them that little part. Hold it up and show them what you're cutting off of the cutting off this little part right here. Right and show them the other two parts. You know you got you get then you got this part where it's the actual muscles. Alright. Good meat. Okay. Alright. That's good. Let's watch him do single digging. That's good. And we're going to have look at that pile of chicken wings we're going to have y'all. Oh wait. What? Did you throw away the bad part? Throw away the part. Okay I thought he's ready the good part. No. Anyway y'all. We're going to cut all this up and then we're going to show you our recipe of how to do this. And it will be so good. Oh William is in there doing the chicken wings. Trenton and Isabella having a snack. Oh. Chicken salad with Cheez Its because and Crystal Hot Sauce. Because why? Big Momma's crackers were what? Because Big Momma's crackers a little bit still. But we're going to fix that because what we're going to do is toast them in the oven in a little bit. Okay? Y'all Liam's still cutting off the ends but we have we bought three packages. That's why it's taken a little longer. Hey y'all he's finished. Did you finish all cutting all the ends off son? Yes ma'am I did. Alright so I'm going to read out the ingredients that you're going to put them in that big bowl right there okay? Mhm. Alright you want to get your all purpose flour first. And it calls for one cup. But y'all here's the situation. That's just for one pack of wings and we're doing three packs. So let's do 22 cup cups. For one cup and you have three packs that means it costs for three cups. Three cups huh. How much is is that does that thing hold? Two. So we're doing one whole one. I just do a scant for the next one because I think yeah I just do it's real scant. About a cup baby. Yeah that's all I do. That's all I do. Alright we've got that. Alright the next thing you're going to put in is you're going to put in one tablespoon of paprika. Is this one tablespoon? That big one is. Uh huh. Okay. One tablespoon. So this would be three. That's exactly right. Three, one, Y'all like paprika. I do love that stuff. Three. Okay. Alright. The next one you might as well hold that tablespoon. Go to the teaspoon. And put your garlic powder and you're going to have to do three of those since we're doing teaspoons. Teaspoon. This is one half teaspoon. I can't find a one whole well yeah it'll be the next next size wouldn't it? There you go. Okay. Of your garlic powder. Put three of those in there. Alright? And we want to put in three teaspoons of light brown sugar. Which I should I keep it in this jar right there y'all. Mhm. Three of them. Three of sugar. Is the base recipe call for one? Yes. So we're putting in three. Uh huh. Now, if y'all are doing this at home, you just want to do if you just want to do one pack of chicken stuff, that'll be good. I put one more just in case. Mm hmm. Cuz we got a lot of chicken. Alright, now then put your salt and it cost for one teaspoon. So, we'll do three of those. And I I do those level. You going to eat you some wings today aren't you darling? Mhm. Okay. Now we want the same with black pepper. Three teaspoons of black pepper. That's going to give it some nice kick. I love black peppers. I do too. It's good for you. Let me get us a spoon now. We're going to stir that around. I'm going to get you a wooden one I think so it won't make such a racket. I'll be right back. Let's see what we want. I think. Let's see. This one will be good for that. It feel good for it. Brenda. Yes? Are you videoing? Uh huh. How many is that? Three. Okay. Alright. So stir all your ingredients around a little bit. Get them all mixed in there good. Probably easier with my hand. No it'll be good like that. Get them all mixed up in all that. Mhm. And see how brown it is y'all with the paprika on the whoop. Look came out. Look came out. Alright. Now y'all what we're going to do is we're going to grease our pan and I'll show you how to do that. Okay so we got our oven preheated to 400 degrees. So now we're going to get the pan ready. What we're going to do is we're going to put about a cup of water underneath it. Trying to help cook that chicken. Yes and what else that does on that is it causes when all that fat falls down in it won't stick to that pan. We won't have such a clean up. Yep and then we're getting some of this Crisco and we're going to spread it on the pan. That'll help. So the chicken doesn't stick. That's right. That'll be plenty right there. What'd you say, Heather? I was just. Do you need me? What are you in here doing? I was just coming to see what progress y'all on. Oh, honey. We're progressing. We're progressing. Perfect. Is it, go there and see if he's got it grease. Good. It looks like he does. Looks like he does, doesn't it? It's going to be good. It is. Gonna be good y'all. That's good enough. Let me give you a paper towel. Alright. You set up now? Yes. Alright. Look at that Trenton. He's hungry. He's in there looking. Trust. Hot sauce good back. Yeah. Uh. In the cabinet. Cabinet. I don't keep biting the fridge. Right here hon. Cabinet. Cabinet. Yeah. In the anywhere in the the bottom part. In that bucket looking thing back there. Yeah. There you go. Alright William go ahead. Alright so we're going to put our seasoning into with our wings. Uh we're going to dump it. Alright, hand me my bowl. And then we're going to mix it. Okay. Gonna mix it. Mix it good too. Get everybody COVID right? Mhm. We did wash the chicken wings y'all to start with. So they're wet. Well they're wet too. So that stuff is going to stick to them really good. Mhm. But if y'all are doing just one pack of chicken wings it's got about you know twelve to sixteen in it. You won't you just need to go by the recipe book. And the it's in my third recipe book. This one right here. Live each little moment y'all and so that's the one you're going to be getting it out of if you need to do it. It's on page fifty9 if you want to do you some. They should look like that when you get through. Should. Yeah. They should. You go have to put them kind of close together William because I'm telling you we got a big fan of them. Alright go ahead and lay them on your pan. Start right at the edge so we can get all everybody on there. I might have to do me one on another something. I don't know. About to get another pan. Just push them close to each other. There you go. Alright so y'all he's going to do that. He's going to get it all in the pan and we'll be back just a second. And let's see what you got right here. We got them real close haven't we? Mhm. Alright. Put them we're going to put them on the top shelf. The oven is on 400. Preheated 400. Yep. Mhm. With a little water. That's alright. It's okay. Alright y'all we we going to cook them 20 minutes on that side. And then after 20 minutes you going to flip them and cook them again on the other side. Alright. Sounds good. Anyway y'all we're going to have chicken wings for dinner and then we're going to go to Candyland tonight in Andalusia. And yeah go in all those little houses. William preached in one of those churches 1 day. When you were a little old bitty boy. You don't even remember that do you? I do. Do you remember the manger saying that they had? Yes. We had a good time. But anyway, we'll be back when the chicken's done. Mhm. Oh we're fixed to flip the wings. Alright. I'm going to grab this. I burn myself. We'll put we'll put those things around it good and the other side too. All the way around. And and keep it level because you ain't got that water and now you got grease in the bottom of it too. Yeah. Where the chicken did out. Alright, close that up and y'all we're boiling to some potatoes. We're going to have potatoes with it. I need to turn that down a little bit. Aren't you ready to flip em? Yup, we're going to flip em. Just like that. Look how juicy they are. Oh my gosh. They look delicious. Get them all flipped and we're going to put them back in there. They've been in there a little a little over 20 minutes. Yeah, probably twenty-five. Did you flip that one? That one right there. Yeah, you did, didn't you, okay? Alright. Well, just keep on flipping em til you get em all like you want em. Anyway y'all we're going to boil these potatoes and anyway I'm going to cut up this celery. And we're going to have it with our wings and that'll be a good thing. Alright you ready to put them back in? Yes ma'am. Alright. Get those things in there. Keep it level. We're going to brown the other side and then we're going to chow down. Mhm. It's going to be good. Mhm. It's going to be good. Y'all I want to show you something that we're going to do tonight. Y'all they're looking at old pictures aren't you? We are. I was just about to ask. Alright so right here these are paper placemats. That I got when I was in Williamsburg. And so I thought this would be a good time to use these because you know what a mess you bake when you're trying to eat a wings. So we're going to eat in here on this little table tonight. We're going to eat our wings. Alright, y'all. So, it's a time for us to take the wings out. And for goodness sake, keep that thing straight because. It's hot water and oil in there. Yes, grease down in there. A lot will start a fire in there if we spill that grease out of there. Yeah. So, take your time and kind of hold it on the other side too. There you go. See it up there on the buffet real slow. Keep it level. Keep it level. Keep it level. There you go. Whoo. There we go. There we go. Alright, just close that oven up. Just leave everything like it is. I'm going to turn it off. Looks smooth. Yes, it looks absolutely delicious and y'all look what I bought me today. I bought me a present. That we we went to an antique store. They had this this whole four of em for $12 but it was 25% off. So, I got em for I think it was seven. 25%, but anyway, we're going to have our chicken in that and our potatoes are ready. We got some sour cream and butter, salt and pepper and put out a little Creole seasoning if we want on that. And I'm going to grate up some of this cheese. So y'all enjoy. Thank you William for cooking for me today. Yes ma'am. You won't say anything to them? No. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. And and happy everything. Happy everything. Alright.
