Stair Access For Storage

🙋‍♀️ Should they ask for access under the stairs...? It’s common to see the area under the stairs blocked off. I’d prefer some sort of access for storage when building a new home. Spacing studs at 24 inches can save you on lumber costs and improve energy efficiency by reducing thermal bridging cold air from outside transferring through the studs. For those prioritizing energy efficiency, consider an exterior layer of PolyISO insulation around the whole house, this would drastically reduce thermal bridging regardless of stud spacing. They keep the wires organized in the attic. When I go in my attic the blown-in insulation covers all the wiring running across the ceiling joists so I’m often stepping on these wires. Wiring is not typically installed like this because it saves money on material. If you use something like Ti-D wire, you’ll be paying more for material, so it’s up to you if it’s worth it.
