Hand painted dining room mural

Similar to the blue dining room I mentioned in one of our recent posts, the mural in this space relates to and extends to other parts of the room... The dark green that appears in the trees is repeated on the bead-board wall below and on the kitchen cabinets. In the mural that dark green color is also mixed with other colors to create texture so it make the work cohesive, not matchy.

Artist Xavier Donnelly explains how he gave the mural at the Ghia house a plaster-like look with a common household ingredient.

‘How is that mad idea to repaint the entire background of your mural going Anna?’. Well I’m glad you asked! It’s rather more yellow than I realised it was going to be but I am embracing the cheeriness and am overjoyed with how it’s going! And if you missed my stories on this, basically we fitted coving to this room and hadn’t painted the top section because I couldn’t reach it, and long story short I couldn’t get the background of my mural to match the top of the room so have had to repaint…
