3D Touch Screens in museums act as an interactive experience kiosk for visitors as they are invited to “touch and explore” the 3D models. Visitors can touch a screen to zoom in, rotate and examine the objects at their own pace – using gestures similar to a smartphone. This allows the audience to obtain a better understanding of the objects' formal qualities and feel as though they are in control of the object.

In May 2014, an exhibition in the Westman Islands about one of Iceland’s biggest natural disasters, the Heimaey eruption in 1973, was launched in a new building on the slopes of the Eldfell volcano. The eruptive fissure that opened, was only 150 meters from the closest houses but eventually the flow of lava covered the entire town and crushed 400 houses in its path.
