Now Sold. For details of our latest stock and current auctions, please click through this link. A well executed antique Indo-Persian lacquer painted papier-mache box, dating to the 19th Century. The rectangular box, with canted corners, has been profusely hand painted in polychrome lacquer with fighting monkey demons, animals and other mythical creatures on a gold ground. The lid pulls off to reveal a blue and gold inner sleeve and a red painted interior. Suitable for use as a cigar case, or as a purse/card case.

A large hand crafted Middle Eastern copper ewer or coffee pot, dating to the first half of the 19th century. The body is formed of a substantial gauge copper, with decorative hand hammered repousse spiral detail to the shoulder and to the lid. The hinged lid sits well on the tall neck and short spout. A castellated join is visible around the middle of the body. The ewer is watertight and holds 2 litres of liquid.

Formed of silver inlay in a zinc alloy ground, the vase is decorated with flowing foliate fronds, leading up to bands of palmettes and lotus flowers around the neck.
c1800, ANTIQUE 18th/19thC SOUTH INDIAN DEEPAM OR DIYA BRONZE OIL LAMP, SIGNED
Now Sold. For details of our latest stock, please click through this link. An antique South Indian bronze temple Deepam or Diya oil lamp, dating to the late 18th or early 19th Century, circa 1800. The oil lamp, for seven wicks, stands on a tapering hexagonal column, leading down to a wide drip pan. The side of the central drip pan is signed with stipple engraved characters to one side and an incised mark in Sanskrit to the other. Formed of three parts which screw into one another, each of a richly patinated bronze. Lamps such as this are used in Hindu ceremonies and Puja rituals, lit using coconut oil and short wicks, and are considered to bring peace and prosperity.

An antique Mamluk Revival Cairoware bowl, profusely inlaid with silver and copper, Persia, dating to the second half of the 19th Century. The bowl with tapered sides, the body decorated with the Ottoman 'star and crescent' design in copper and silver and a series of Arabic script panels around the body, and foliate designs, all on a finely engraved brass ground. The areas in between filled with black composition. The base bears an engraved signature, unidentified.

The body of bell-shape form with flaring neck and a projecting rim dividing it. Formed of silver inlay on a zinc alloy ground, the hookah is decorated with a series of four central oval panels featuring flowering urns around the body, a floral swag and thin bands around the base and shoulders.
ANTIQUE 12thC KHMER CAMBODIAN BROWN GLAZED CERAMIC BIRD FORM LIME POT JARLET

The small lime pot, decorated with vertical incised lines under a brown glaze, in the form of a bird, possible an owl with beak and eyes to one side and tail to the opposing side. The flat base is unglazed. Originating from Northern Thailand or Cambodia, Khmer Dynasty (802 - 1431AD).

An antique Mamluk Revival Cairoware cup, profusely inlaid with silver and copper, and dating to the late 19th or early 20th Century, circa 1900. The cup is of tapering form, with an Arabic script panel around the body, and foliate designs, all on a finely engraved brass ground. The base bears an engraved mark, which has not been identified.

The elongated bottle vase is decorated in inlaid copper and silver with Arabic script around the body, leading up to extensive foliate designs, all on a finely stipple engraved brass ground. With an engraved mark to the lower side, unidentified.

An unusual and rarely seen antique Indian Bidriware dibba spice box in the form of a fish, likely originating from Lucknow India, dating to the first half of the 19thc Century Mughal period. Formed of silver inlay in a zinc alloy ground, the box is decorated to the lift off lid with a naive fish head, the body with fish scales leading down to the tail. The sides of the box are also filled with similar fish scales.

Now Sold. A highly decorative antique hand engraved copper bowl, North India, of hemi-spherical form standing on a circular pedestal foot, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, circa 1800. The bowl is formed of a substantial gauge copper, with engraved exterior trefoil bands and floral motifs, the inner centre with an engraved floral design. The exterior surface displays a deep brown coloured patina with oxidisation to the fine engraved detail.

A decorative pair of antique Ottoman silver damascene steel calligrapher's scissors, dating to the 19th Century. The damascened steel is finely inlaid with silver wire along the length of the blades and handles, creating a typical scrolling and foliate design. The handles to the end are hinged, opening to create finger holes. The main scissor hinge is strong and the blades cut well.

An exceptionally finely hand crafted pietra dura inlaid marble box, made in the Kashir region of India, and dating to the 2nd half of the 20th Century. The box is inlaid to the lid and sides with lapis lazuli and agate stones as well as mother of pearl forming a highly detailed floral design. The box itself is carved from white marble, the base formed from a single piece of stone.
