Samantha Hermann on Instagram: "You probably already have this awesome pest control product in your house! I’ve treated Mealybugs with 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol multiple times on smaller plants with great results. I use undiluted. It’s relatively inexpensive & works on contact by drying out the pest and their eggs. It MUST come in contact with the pest/eggs to be effective, so using it as a preventative isn’t necessary. Keep the plant out of direct sun until dry to avoid any scorching. Spray at least 2-3x a week, I’ve been spraying daily because of the large infestation of mealies and all the cracks and crevices of this plant. Try to avoid the soil (you don’t want to dry out the roots) and the blooms if there are any. Have you used rubbing alcohol to control pests?"
Chantel Gray | 🪴 Plants + DIY on Instagram: "Follow me @channygrayhome for more houseplant inspo! BUT, C’MON NOW! Isn’t she pretty?! 12 months ago, when I bought this, this table was actually MUCH larger than I anticipated. I thought it’d be a cute sidetable for my plant room but it actually almost didn’t fit in here! It’s definitely got plenty of room for these plants to grow and stretch their legs! The best part is that this is mostly self sustaining! The humidity continues to circulate and keep everything damp, while the stratum (those little caviar looking things) continue providing the nutrients everything needs to thrive. Whenever I see the stratum begin to look dry (turns an ashy color) I’ll spray it down with distilled water, and that’s about it! This prevents any salt/mineral b

One of the easier ways to make a plant look more full without need to take cuttings and planting them into the pot is wrapping long vines around the top of the pot and pinning them down! The nodes that are touching the soil will eventually root into the soil! And doing this covers any bald spots on the top and makes the plant look more full and lush! Have you tried this trick before? . . . #indoorjungle #indoorplants #trailingplants #epipremnum #plantcarehacks #pothosmanjula | Reena Zaveri

79K views · 6.8K reactions | I’ve been keeping a SECRET! But I HAD to be sure!!! I’ve been suspecting that HEAT is the biggest factor when it comes to getting blooms on your plants (especially Hoya). This summer my AC was having issues in my plant room so it’s been pretty warm in here 80-90° ish. And the BLOOMS have been BLOOMING! So many people, including myself, may take care of our Hoya perfectly but they NEVER give us blooms! Take this into consideration and watch what happens! This is also a huge factor why direct sun is so essential for your Hoya! Letting them bask in the sun increases the heat they’re recieving and they grow and bloom at a much faster rate! This plant here is a Hoya Compacta - typically known as a slower growing Hoya, but I couldn’t disagree more. She grows crazy fast and is obviously blooming like crazy too! Imagine walking into my plant room and taking in her chocolate covered strawberry scent 🥹🌸 Have you experienced Hoya blooms?! Share this info with a planty friend and follow for more tips on your jungle journey! xo - Chantel | Chantel Gray | 🪴 Plants + DIY

This one is the survivor from the two pots I managed to save, lol. I couldn't wait any longer for it to grow. So, decided to try propagating it using leaves in different mediums: perlite, potting mix, and Fluval Stratum. 😊☘️🌱 #zz #zzplant #zzplants #plant #plants #plantsplantsplants #plantscare #plantcaretips #plantslove #plantsonly #propagation #propagationstation #plantobsessed #plantsmakemehappy #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantsmakemehappy #urbanjunglehome #indoorplants #houseplants #plantas #reelsofinstagram😍 #plantsofinsta #plantsofinstagram🌱 #garden #urbanjungle #ravenzz #plantparent | Kreepa Gaihre

679 reactions · 28 shares | How many people buy plants based on how easily you can make more of them?🙋🏻‍♂️ All of these plants families are able to be replicated very easily which to me makes them more valuable. In fact all of these plants (minus the Alocasia) are actually plants that were propagated themselves. One of of my favorite things about being a plant dad is when people see the jungle and I am able to give them a baby to grow for their own. And if you have any of these plants, you will always have the ability to grow more free plants! Tips for propagating: - Make sure the “mother” plant is healthy, don’t try to prop a dying plant thinking you can save it, that never works out. - If propagating in water, make sure to change the water weekly. Cuttings are more susceptible to infection which is spread more easily in dirty mucky water. - While most of these plants can tolerate low to medium light to survive, their babies need bright indirect light to give them the best chances of surviving. A few more details ⬇️ 🪴 What plants will this work for? 🪴 Most houseplants will thrive in this set up 🙌 a Pothos is a great place to start 🪴 How does it work? The cotton cord absorbs the moisture & passes it on to the leca or soil as it dries out. It really takes the stress out of over or underwatering 👏👏👏 🪴 Now what? Just refill the water occasionally & watch your plant THRIVE! Some scientists debate on whether green glass helps roots grow faster & I’m all about trying it out! 💚 especially when it’s GORGEOUS like this one. It’s the best feeling when things just 💫work✨ which is exactly what happened when this idea fell into place #gardening #gardeningtips | Mariah Harman | Houseplant Tips | carneyval · Slide x Shooting Stars
