The MAGIC of Resistance🖌
Place a watercolor paper on a piece of cardboard. Let the child wrap rubber bands around the paper/cardboard. Next, let the child paint the entire paper. Let dry. Remove rubber bands to reveal the wonder of resistance. Another interesting note is to see where the pigment pooled. These will be the areas of deeper pigment. 🙌 Process Art honors each child and their individual expression. Remember, the heart of the journey is the making and creating! ❤️ #teaching #teach #art #activity
✏️ Salt as a mark-making tool!
Mark making is an important process in the creative expression of the young child. It’s interesting to provide more tactic opportunities for making marks like this salt tray. Sometimes children need alternative ways to be inspired to make marks. Making marks in sand or salt provides kinesthetic feedback. #activity #kindergarden #earlychildhood #kids #play #finemotor #finemotordevelopment #finemotoractivities #preschool #preschoolteacher #teacher #classroom #playbased #earlyyears
Tube Sculptures
THE INVITATION: This is one of those projects that can be ever-changing. It can also become a homemade tinker set. Children love to construct and deconstruct. This project is a perfect way to offer an art form that they can change and alter as they wish. 💡For children under three years old, cut the tubes in half or thirds. #activity #preschoolactivities #kindergartenactivities #teacher #play #prek #preschool #playbased #childled #processart #artactivity #finemotordevelopment #finemotor
Flower Paints 🌺
Flower Petals and crushed flowers make a beautiful palette of choices for creating paint. There's something so special about making paints with flowers. 💡 Ideas for older children: Invite the children to measure and record their paint recipes. #activity #teacher #preschool #finemotor #kindergarten #prek #play #preschoolteacher #preschoolactivity #elementary #iteach #play #childhood #earlyyears #earlychildhoodeducation #ece #playbased #artactivity #paint #painting #earlyyearsactivity
🖍 Creative Mark Making!
Mark-making is a dynamic play process. A roll of masking tape is all you need to create wild marks! Tape crayons or markers on the child’s fingers. Let the child guide you. One crayon? Two? And then let them explore the sensation of making marks with taped-on crayons. Let the children lead you in other wild-designed mark-making ideas! Play! #markmaking #finemotor #prek #teacher #teaching #kindergarten #activity #earlyyears #earlychildhoodeducation #preschool #play #childhood
🧊 Block Ice Painting 🎨
Try this refreshing painting idea on a hot summer afternoon! — Simply freeze water in a plastic container. — Pop out the frozen water onto a tray or into a shallow plastic tub. — Let the children paint it! Painting on different surfaces was a great takeaway from the Paint Play Lab in our Free to Play Summit this year. What other surface ideas do you have to paint on? #summerideas #playideas #earlychildhood #play #teacher #teaching #preschool #toddler #activity #artactivity #paint #
Through Nature Weaving
🍃 Through Nature Weaving 🍂 Me, oh my - this beautiful play invitation speaks to my heart! 💕 1. Visit a beautiful natural setting with your group. 2. Invite children to collect special items they find around. 3. When back to the classroom, use those special items as “thread” to weave the looms
Nature Play Invitation!
Thank you to mbsactivityroom for allow us to share this magic! By cutting ten pieces of paper and pinning them on a piece of cardboard, a VIP invitation to explore the wonder of the world around us is born. Imagine how minds expand as they witness firsthand the colorful world around us. Social and cognitive skills form as children work together to find the matching pieces of this puzzle in the abundance of nature! This is connected and engaged learning at its finest.

Face Collage
Possible Threads of Inquiry: How will a child reinterpret faces? How do children perceive the parts that compound a face? How can you represent parts of a face? What is the use of the parts of the face? What happens when one part of the face isn't working? How can you identify your own face? What details can you identify in faces? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Include photos of the children and faces that are familiar to them for a deep connection to the materials and the invitation!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Crushed Chalk Paint
What You'll need: Chalk, Mortar & Pestle, water, pipettes, jars/cups, spoons, paint brushes, paper, and trays or Cookie Sheets. This activity offers many experiences for a child to connect with materials. The process of crushing the chalk, observing how the chalk's properties change. Mixing the chalk with water, and exploring textures. A simple activity, yet one where the child gets to truly lead in the learning! Source: Wonder Art Workshop by Sally Haughey
The only thing that makes a “perfect” learning space is the spirit of WONDER that is intended to happen inside it. I know that educators take pride in their learning spaces. On social media, you are hard-pressed to find a photo of a classroom that isn't “aesthetically pleasing.” I get it! But aesthetics should NOT be the intention behind a classroom set up. 🌟 Perfection is NOT where the magic happens. #classroominspiration #teaching #teacher #teachertruth #classroomaesthetic⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Play is the most powerful curriculum.
I have been deeply inspired by many brilliant minds and Methods of Education. When you boil it all down, its play. Play and relationships are the way we can facilitate a learning experience that allows a child to truly unlock his or her potential. #teacherquotes #earlychildhood #ece #earlyyears #playbased
