About us
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national organisation responsible for implementing the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme across Australia, in partnership with the 15 National Boards. Guided by a nationally consistent law, Ahpra and the National Boards work to regulate the health professions in the public interest. This includes registering practitioners who are suitably trained and qualified to provide safe healthcare and investigating concerns about registered health practitioners. On this day, 2008, then PM Kevin Rudd apologised to the Stolen Generations. The Healing Foundation is asking ‘What are you doing to recognise the 17th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations?’ We at Ahpra are marking this day by acknowledging that saying sorry is a moment in time. That the health impacts on members, families, communities & descendants are lasting and debilitating. Today Ahpra reaffirms our commitment to ensuring all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples impacted by this cruel and racist policy, receive culturally safe and racism free healthcare.
February 13, 2025, marks the 17th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. On this day in 2008, then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formally apologised to Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the forcible removal of children from their families, acknowledging the profound grief and loss caused by these actions. The Healing Foundation will be sharing content over the next few weeks to commemorate this significant event and highlight ongoing efforts needed for Stolen Generations survivors and their descendants. #unfinishedbusiness What are you doing to recognise the 17th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations?? - - - - #nationalapologyanniversary #bringingthemhome #stolengenerations #truthtelling #indigeenousaustralia
