Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, located in the Westfjords is super remote, rugged, and breathtakingly beautiful. It is truly a hikers paradise. You can only access Hornstrandir by ferry and then by foot. 🥾 Hiking here is only accessible from about June-Aug when the ferry runs. I recommend going in late July if you want to see the wildflowers in peak bloom and have the best chance of good weather (although still unpredictable). I also recommend spending a minimum of 2 days here. There are two options for hiking Hornstrandir: Option 1 (Self-guided): Take the ferry from Isafjordur (make sure to get a reservation ahead).
