Azzedine Alaïa has always admired the work of Madeleine Vionnet. The red colour, the bias cut in chiffon, the pointed cuts, the feigned nudity and the naked back with a clever cleavage formed by twists (twisted fabric) are all tributes from the designer to the seamstress. Created in 1997, this work met with renewed success sixteen years later, on 10 February 2013, when singer Rihanna wore an identical model on the red carpet leading up to the Grammy Awards ceremony.
