The paper discusses a significant aspect of the conflict at the level of local history. The onset... more The paper discusses a significant aspect of the conflict at the level of local history. The onset and the intensification of the military clashes, between 1946-1949, led to a massive and extensive evacuation of the countryside from its population, which was directed to the closest or furthest safe urban centers. The article tries to address on five main issues: the scheme and the way in which the National Army evacuated the mountainous countryside of the prefecture of Trikala as well as the consequences of this policy, the way in which the local administration managed the internal refugees in terms of housing and care policies, the attempts of political control, but also the social contradistinctions that arose from the coexistence in the same society of impoverished internal refugees and prosperous natives.
Ο Ελληνικός Εμφύλιος πόλεμος, ως γενικό φαινόμενο που επηρέασε την ελληνική επικράτεια, έχει αποτ... more Ο Ελληνικός Εμφύλιος πόλεμος, ως γενικό φαινόμενο που επηρέασε την ελληνική επικράτεια, έχει αποτελέσει πεδίο σημαντικής βιβλιογραφικής παραγωγής. Δεν συμβαίνει, όμως, το ίδιο- τηρουμένων των αναλογιών- σε επίπεδο τοπικής ιστορίας και συγκεκριμένα για τον νομό Τρικάλων, όπου η έλλειψη επιστημονικά τεκμηριωμένης βιβλιογραφίας για την περίοδο του Εμφυλίου πολέμου είναι κάτι παραπάνω από εμφανής. Αυτή η έλλειψη ίσως οφείλεται στις σχεδόν ανύπαρκτες πρωτογενείς πηγές στα γεωγραφικά όρια του νομού, εξαιρώντας βέβαια τον τοπικό τύπο της εποχής, ο οποίος στον βαθμό που έχει διασωθεί είναι προσβάσιμος στην ιστορική έρευνα, ή ενδεχομένως στην έλλειψη σχετικού ενδιαφέροντος για τη συγκεκριμένη περίοδο. Το σχετικό κενό και το προσωπικό ενδιαφέρον για τη δεκαετία του 1940 αποτέλεσαν τα εφαλτήρια για την επιλογή του συγκεκριμένου θέματος- Ο Εμφύλιος πόλεμος στον Νομό Τρικάλων: από την Απελευθέρωση ως το τέλος του 1949- ως πρωτεύουσα μεταπτυχιακή διπλωματική εργασία.
