Clannad follows the life of Tomoya Okazaki, a high school delinquent who meets many people in his last year at school, including five girls, and helps resolve their individual problems. The gameplay of Clannad follows a branching plot line which offers pre-determined scenarios with courses of interaction, and focuses on the appeal of the five female main characters by the player character. The game was ranked as the best-selling PC game sold in Japan for the time of its release, and charted in the national top 50 several more times afterwards.

THE slice-of-life familiar visual novel that i’d easily recommend to anybody looking to get into the medium. clannad sets the gold standards for “nakiges” with its fairly well paced story, variety of meaningful applicable themes tackled & lovable characters while having majority of the routes being consistently engaging on top of that.

Sorry Okabe, but Tomoya is my favorite Visual Novel protagonist.

yeah its good alot (not all) of the emotional moments are slightly melodramatic but the slice of life is great

After 7 or 8 long years i finished this game and damn. It's amazing how good it is!

It's really, really long and dense but really worth it, especially 'cause every different arc makes you understand and fall in love with each character, yes, even Sunohara.
Everyone says how sad the story is, and that is really true, but the happy endings make up for it, making it feel really satisfying and worth to fully complete it. Also it's funny as hell, every route has like 2 jokes but they spam it a thousand times to the point of it being absurd, loved that.

Overall i started regretting having taken so long to read it, but at certain point, in After Story, where Tomoya remembers certain tings that passed a long time ago, they actually feel like a long time has passed, which made that part especially sentimental.

Such a long game but worth it. I dind't cry althought I thought I would, and came close at certain points. A beautiful story that I don't think I could've fully appreciated had I played this game while I was younger and in highschool.
