
Hue is a stark puzzle platformer where you shift the hue of the world, creating rifts when colours collide. In this world, everyone sees in grayscale. Anne, a researcher specialising in colour theory, has created a mysterious ring which grants the ability to perceive and alter colour. After a fracas with her research assistant, she disappears into a coloured void. You play as Hue, Anne’s son, as he discovers fragments of his missing mother’s research and learns to perceive and alter colour for the first time.

Hue is a puzzle platformer game. you play as a kid who has access to a power that changes the background color, and makes same colored items disapear
as you progress in the game, you unlock more and more color you can shift to, allowing for more complex puzzles
there is some variety in the puzzles, but it did feel a bit samey to me
there's a little story about the protagonist's mom, but it's nothing crazy
I think the game could have been more abitious visually, like the color shifting could have had more consequences than just making some objects disapear

Hue could've been one of those nice little indie games that absolutely floor you, but unfortunately that's not the case. The main issue I have with this game is the puzzle design. For about 90% of the time, the puzzles are simply braindead easy, and that is coming from someone who usually really struggles to solve puzzles in video games. The other 10% is the most frustrating and tedious puzzle design I've ever seen in a video game.
These latter puzzles often consist of a series of things you'll have to do to solve a puzzle and it's usually pretty clear what you have to do but if you only screw up once in your execution, you will most likely die and have to start over which is just a very very annoying experience. It also doesn't help that controls feel a bit floaty. In some cases you had to maneuver in very close proximity to some deadly lasers and if you misclicked once, you guessed it, instadeath. I also sometimes had the feeling that it didn't switch to the correct colour. Maybe that was me being imprecise but it still felt very off and happened continuously throughout the game.
The story was just there and the way they presented it was a bit lame. You would usually just run through an empty hallway while listening to some mildly interesting philosophical questions.
I liked the soundtrack though, it was the kind of soundtrack you'd expect from such a game.
Overall this was a mix between a boring and frustrating experience but I still finished it because it was short and I was too stubborn to stop playing (I was close to quitting once or twice though lol).
