Wait, why does that tree has a text adventure game, yoko taro what's wrong with you?

It's a bit jank to play, but everything else about this game is the best. Story, characters, writing, music, and worldbuilding are 10/10.

I think a lot about how Kaine knew what the stakes were this whole game, but said nothing because she didn't give a shit. That little tragedy to me is at the core of what makes this game so good, even compared to the more playable (?) Automata.

One of the best casts in Japanese RPGs, too. I would die for Emil, and probably for Kaine (but again, I don't think she'd care...)

only started playing this because of some of the environments, which are very cute. unfortunately, everything else is pretty shit; story, dialogue, pacing and combat. the first 5 mins of walking around the main village and watching little chicks walk around were the highlight for me, it was all downhill from there

despite the remake and sequel this is still yoko taro's magnum opus. i will never forget you papa nier
