After spending a year on Twitter building up my reputation, I find that I can barely stand to be there anymore. This is mostly due to rampant unchecked bigotry and twitter’s tendency to let everyone know what everyone is thinking constantly. Ive felt vulnerable on there for a long time and scared to post any opinion due to the alt-right’s tendency to dogpile LGBT positive posts. Tonight i saw a trans artist delete their art due to massive transphobic bullying and it made me feel absolutely hopeless in ever achieving trans equity.
The only way i can stay sane and calm my paranoia is by logging off. This idea is difficult for me to conceive seeing that since i was 12 ive longed to be a popular artist whose work was actually paid attention to. After finally feeling like i achieved that I realize that its on a platform that literally drives me to suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. So now i have to choose between my dreams and my sanity and i have no idea what to do.
My only option is to be on this dead platform that only a fraction of my friends visit anymore. I am not doing well at all, but i appreciate the care even after ive been long gone.
