Perception of time varies from time to time and from space to space; it has never had a single apprehension. It is the human experience that gives time a sense. At this point, Tilly's definition of time might be useful: Time is an invention, the humanly-negotiated concordance of two or more sequences, sequences whatsoever. No single sequence establishes a time, and no time exists outside of human convention. Despite its appearance of superhuman reality, time reeks of culture; it centers on shared understandings about relationships among sequences. Time, therefore, changes as shared understandings and choices of sequences change. 1

The next step was to change the (wooden) house into a building of stone which eventually became a fort from where they fired at the local people. 1
